Specialties

Keep It Simple, or KIS, is a farm and feed store, with an emphasis on organics. We do our best to source as many of our products locally and carry feed for a variety of animals. If we don’t stock the feed you are interested in, please let us know and we are happy to try and source it and get you a competitive price. We carry feed for chickens, rabbits, ducks, horses, sheep, goats, and more!

We also pride ourselves in our wide selection of organic soil amendments, which we have available in large bags and also by the pound. We stock everything you need for both the indoor and outdoor gardener in our hydro shop. While we do have hydroponic supplies, we are very passionate about soils. Our goal is to move people away from using synthetic chemicals and pesticides and over to a more natural, sustainable way of growing.

Lastly, we are a specialty nursery with an emphasis on unique edibles and pollinators.

History

Established in 2012.

The original owners of Classic Nursery, Leon and Linda Hussey, are now back with a new business that includes a farm and feed store, specialty nursery, hydro shop, and much much more!

This property was formerly a nursery and landscape company. We are still a nursery but the focus is on edible plants and pollinators with very few ornamental selections.

The feed store is an entirely new direction for the business but we are excited to be working with local animal owners.

Meet the Manager

Tad H.

Manager

Tad is the manager at Keep It Simple and has run the online store for Keep It Simple Organics for the past 10 years. Tad orders all of our feed in the store and enjoys chickens, rabbits, and all the animals on the Farm! The feed store came about due to his enjoyment of his own backyard chickens. In addition to the feeds store aspects, Tad is passionate about soil and works with our indoor gardeners as part of our hydro department staff.

I’ve driven past this place for years and never stopped. Today, I went and was so pleasantly surprised. This place is huge and is an adventure, definitely bring your kids. There is a play structure and many places to run and walk even a nature trail. I picked up a few plants and accessories and thought the prices were very fair. I would definitely come back here anytime. At checkout the guy was happy to answer my questions about caring for my new plants. They accept credit cards with a $ 15 min purchase the sign said.

This is a 7 acre property offering «all things organic, related to growing plants and growing animals».
Their farm/​feed store has many organic products. Their organic hydro shop offers a wide selection of soil amendments. I haven’t explored their specialty nursery where they have edible and medicinal plants — will have to when I have more time.
Stop by their greenhouse and garden where they raise hens for eggs which they sell. Don’t get attached to their hens. They have some pretty friendly chickens who will come right up to you. They are not for sale :(. I buy non-​GMO feed for my chickens here and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

This is just a lovely place to stop in where people are always helpful and friendly. They really take the time to make sure all your questions are answered.
It’s a feel good place where they care about the community and the environment.

Keep It Simple is a sanctuary. Go there and bear witness: happy staff, happy customers, plants, animals, bacteria and even the manager Tad. The air there is infectious (not the bacteria, it serves to fortify the soil) and it gives my soul and senses a boost. I would like to keep it a secret but word of mouth is surely spreading. This nursery has the best customer service ever !! I am a gardening newbie and I went here on a saturday evening. Liz there patiently helped me with what I needed to buy to grow herbs and vegetables. She stayed almost 20 minutes past the closing time to help me out. I came back the next day with some pots and another girl there helped me pot the cilantro and mint starters I purchased. I ended up buying 3 bags of organic soil from them. These folks sure offer great customer service.

We love this family friendly farm! Our 4 year old really really loves it here. They are so friendly to us and we especially were happy with the service we received from Robert — he made a point of letting our daughter get close to the animals and do some feeding and handling.

What a fun place to come with the entire family! Mom and Dad got to shop, while the kiddo played. Then we all went on a hike along Bear Creek. :) We came home with quite a few healthy plants and when I finally convince my hubby to go for a few chickens, I know where we will be going. ;)

I’ve bought many healthy plant starts here, and about a month ago decided to finally take the leap and buy baby chicks: 2 black star, and 2 Brahma (the ones with the feathery feet). The people at Keep It Simple were SUPER DUPER HELPFUL in answering all my newb questions and making sure I went home with all the right stuff to keep the chicks healthy and happy. Now, a little over a month later they are all doing really well and we’ve been back a couple times to stock up on feed, grit, and other things we’ve needed.

This place is AMAZING! for the urban gardener. I love it there. The set up there is so cool. They have things for inside and outside critters. They have chickens and ducks walking around and even a little food machine so your kids can feed them. All the staff is really knowledgeable and friendly and can help you pick out just the right thing every time! Heather took care of my last time I was there and she expanded my garden to new horizons and I am so excited to grow everything! She had a lot of really good tips and walked around with me chatting through my entire time there. So whether you are an experienced gardener or just an enthusiast, I would highly recommend stopping in here. It’s awesome!

I was delighted when KIS opened – finally a feed store in Redmond, so I no longer have to drive to Woodinville or Issaquah or Bothell for chicken food. What surprised me is how incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful everyone at KIS has been. I have a few urban chickens and am about as far from being a farmer as can be. They’ve given me advice on all kinds of things, always patiently and without a hint of «what a stupid question!» The property itself is also worth a visit. On a stressful day, walking around their garden and watching the various animals is a tonic.

I LOVE this store!!! They sell a great variety of edible plants and if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they will try to source it for you or point you in the right direction. They have very friendly and knowledgeable staff and the store location is easy to get to. They have quality feed/​supplies for chickens/​rabbits/​quail/​plants and also offer classes with hands-​on for those who want to learn more (I recommend the bee keeping class!). They support local artists (sculptures/​animal enclosures/​feeders/​feed…) and suppliers and provide great educational field trip opportunities for local schools. Seriously… check out the Salmon swimming upstream in Bear Creek through the back side of their property!
If you are looking for livestock, they sell chicks and also sometimes have small rabbits. They have on-​site chickens/​ducks/​bee hives/​rabbits so you can see functional enclosures on a working farm setup.
