Smiles by Design At Town Center

This is long over do! I started seeing Dr Keller a year ago for TMJ issues. He is the most caring dentist. Everyone in his office is amazing. Mia who is the first one to greet you is by far the best receptionist at any office I have been to. She is so welcoming and just makes each visit so easy. Dr Keller has been such a great dentist for me because his approach is not just about your teeth but your whole body. That’s very important to me. He has gone way beyond what typical dentists have done for me in the past. I would highly recommend anyone to go there and switch dentists.

I’ve started going to this office over 5 years ago and I like the very friendly and super nice staff. Although I always have someone else that cleans, they are all amazing, friendly and take the time to explain what I have to do to get a healthier mouth.
I noticed in my recent visits (I do 2 per year) that their focus switched from general dentistry to cosmetic dentistry, botox and things like this. I don’t mind or care if they sell it, but nowadays you get asked every time, if you are interested in invisaligne, whitening treatments or anything else that has nothing to do with general dentist work. I have said no to those all the time in the past, so nothing changes really for them to ask again.
My appointment last week, was the cherry on top and I seriously consider switching dentists now. Again, everyone is friendly and nice (staff is awesome), but the fact that you can only see a doctor now if you have major concerns, ticks me off. The cleaning girl was awesome, but the doc will only come over if there are concerns, otherwise, he will look at the x-​rays later and I would get a call in case there is anything of concern. Really? I expect the doc to at least take a quick peek at them, while I am already taking time out of my day (they are only open from 8 – 4 anyway) to visit the office. I am not really in the mood to come back in case there is anything to talk about.
I also got informed, that from now on, they will let the patience do their own billing with the insurance? We have to pay up front and get paperwork home to send to the insurance to get reimbursed? This is the last straw for me, since I am not a dentists office and have no idea how to deal with insurance, get information and other things I would need in case there is more than just a cleaning? I am pretty sure he makes enough money, but to let your clients bill the insurance??? No way!
I am really disappointed to say the least and even tough I love the staff here and the doc was nice when I was able to see him in the past, this is not worth the hassle. There are other dentists out there that gladly do the billing job, plus take the time to review your x-​rays.

Firstly, I had been going to this office for 5+ years because I liked my first hygienist and Dr. Shawn (his borderline surly brother, Beau, was better avoided). There is a lot of accessory staff in this office and they were usually pleasant with not many errors over the years. Apparently one can now get cosmetic Botox and dermal fillers done here too but I stuck with general dentistry.
Anyway, recently I was getting some molar work done which required a couple of visits. I had an insurance concern, specifically that I anticipated our dental coverage to be canceled soon, which I brought up with the staff at the first appointment and was told specifically not to worry about it. Except I was right to be concerned because what they told me was wrong and, once the work was completed, I had to pay the $ 500 balance that insurance would no longer cover. The office manager was minimally concerned when I politely discussed the situation with her and insinuated that no-​one on staff would have misinformed me like that. It was an unpleasant and expensive experience. Time to find a new dentist.

Dr Beau Keller is amazing. I used to grind and clench my teeth at night, and was doing a great job wearing them down. Dr Beau recommended an orthotic, I’ve had it for 2 weeks now and it’s worked out perfect. It’s very comfortable and cured all of my symptoms. I am very happy, will defintaly be a patient for a long time!

I have been going to Smiles by Design since Dr. Shawn Keller took over the practice. The staff is always helpful and well informed. They call you twice to remind you of your appointment a week prior and two days prior.
They always have the latest and greatest which makes the whole going to the dentist a great experience. I have always been greeted with a smile and always felt welcomed. I recommend this place anywhere I can. I use to drive two hours because I didn’t want to go anywhere else. They have always checked my insurance benefits but as a patient and also working in the medical field I know that it is patient responsibility to check and know my own insurance plan. They give a discount if you pay in advance as well which a lot of places don’t.
I use them as my primary dentist and have never had a problem with them. Unlike some of the other bigger companies that feel like a slaughter house. I am always reassured about what they are doing and they have always made sure I was comfortable.

If there was a way to mark zero stars I would. This office has a very nice, upscale office. They were not clear on if what they were doing was covered by my insurance policy. Nor were they willing to make that effort to check with my insurance and «do battle» like most doctors would be willing to do for a patient. The doctor and front office were not very good at working with me as a new patient. I have issues in my jaw, and the doctor saw this problem and was willing to do me a «deal» which was so awesome at first until I found out that my insurance ended up paying the full price. so I bleed my insurance and paid 300 dollars for a crappy mouth prosthetic that I can not even use. Now I have a prosthetic I can not use, not money in the insurance to get a proper one. They doctor has not returned any of my calls in regards to getting the «new» one because my insurance ended up paying full price for a half done project. Just be weary when making appointment and know your insurance information. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone that is actually in need of help, not just a pretty, and high tech place.

Office staff and hygenists were awesome, but the doctor I had was not very friendly at all and did not seem happy or welcoming to me as a brand new patient. He didn’t even stay with me long enough for me to ask my questions!

I have no beef with the brothers Keller, who appear to be fine dentists. But I will never go back there, because I have serious concerns about their regard for the well-​being of their patients and staff. I woke the morning of my appointment feeling quite sick, so I called to let them know, and was astonished to find that they would charge me a $ 50 missed appointment fee. In other words, they were providing a financial incentive for me to come to their office when I was sick and possibly contagious. I know that I would much rather pay $ 50 than potentially infect a whole bunch of other people in their office… but I don’t know if their other patients feel the same way, or if some sick schmuck will show up and cough his germs all over me to save $ 50.
Just about every medical office I’ve been to lately has had a sign in the lobby saying something to the effect of «If you have cold or flu symptoms, please stay home.» This is the first one I’ve seen that threatens you with a fine if you do.
