To sum up in one sentence: excellent food and service, authentically French and with a personalized touch.
Went for dinner Saturday night. Man played French music on the accordion, very charming. Aimee came and greeted us soon after we sat down. I had the fish special (something like a sea bass, cooked in parchment paper) and bf had the filet special. Both were delicious and incredibly tender. We didn’t order any starters but our server (who may have also been the owner/Aimee’s husband?) brought out salads because he said the chef said it may take a while for our food. Salads were very tasty. Food came out promptly. Dessert was cream puffs filled with ice cream and covered with warm chocolate sauce, our server’s recommendation. Yummy way to end the meal.

Great place, but it closed a couple of weeks ago. Notified Unilocal four times; they’ve done nothing.

Love Aimee. She’s a total sweetheart. She hosted my mother’s birthday (on a Monday, when they’re usually closed) and my high school graduation dinner, and she did a magnificent job. There used to be a guy who played the accordion by the door. I miss him. :(
A lot of people are whining about the prices. Personally, with the ambiance and the food, I think it’s pretty fair. (I’ve had the occasional issue with service, too, but not when Aimee’s on board.) However, as I broke graduate, I understand your pain and have a solution:
Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday Nights, Aimee’s offers a 4-​course dinner for $ 19.95. You get: Soup du Jour, Aimee’s Salad (my favorite), Choice of Entrée:
Blanquette de Veau (Veal Stew) with Potatoes and Vegetables or Fish of the Day or Gnocchi with Roasted Red Bell Pepper Artichoke Cream Sauce, and the Banana Mousse Napoleon served with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce for dessert.
Now that’s a steal.

Had dinner here with some friends last night. Ambiance was nice, service was good and the presentation of the food was awesome. Prices aren’t cheap, the food was just average and it was crowded (servers kept bumping in to my chair)
I had the French Onion Soup (decent), crusted halibut (just OK, the mashed potatoes with it with pretty average), and the hazelnut cake (decent). My wife had the butterfish special which was good but pricey.
Overall, a decent experience though.

Very nice atmosphere, the owner came out and talked through the menu for us. I ordered a steak and it was pretty good. overall, will recommend for a nice dinner.

I can’t believe for a year I have lived just 5 minutes from this place and never tried it. From the outside it looks a little generic, though not unpleasant, but still never managed to catch my attention. Trying to secure a last minute reservation through open table, Aimee’s topped the list, so I decided to try it, especially considering how close it was. How glad I am that we did.
Walking inside any notion that this is a generic establishment was quickly dispelled as we were warmly greeted by the owner. From then on the service was attentive but not overbearing. The food was quite slow in coming out, but we didn’t mind as we were a large group having a great time chatting, and it was certainly worth the wait. Almost everybody on the table had a different dish, and everyone was convinced their choice was the best. I went with the special Filet Mignon, which tastes every bit as good as it looks. The last time I had a steak this good was at a Michelin star restaurant. The deserts were every bit as good as the main courses, with the soufflé being my personal favorite of all those I tried.
As previously stated we were a large group, so it’s hard to gauge what the atmosphere would be like for a couples reservation, but I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough! Price wise I feel it was very good value, working out to about 65 a head having had plenty to drink, mains, deserts, and coffee.
Very much looking forward to returning to this establishment!

OMG I LOVE THIS PLACE! Had the filet mignon and it was to die for! They have a weekly special i believe its from Monday to Wednesday and it comes with an app, the filet mignon entrée, and a crème brule dessert all for $ 30. Everything is amazing!!!

It’s too bad that the great comfort food couldn’t save the below average/​poor service we had last Friday night at Aimee’s. The waiter kept making excuses and just couldn’t execute on things as little as getting wine to the table, a replacement fork, bread, etc. Things took far too long and we were there for over 2 hrs — everyone else was looking sad and bored at their tables.
Insult to injury was the waiter circling the 20% tip amount.

We went there on a Thursday night. It was the first time that we dines at the restaurant. It had a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Our waiter was wonderful and so was the owner/​manager.
We had the fillet Mignon special and the braised lamb shank, plus salads and appetizer. All were deliciously prepared. A wonderful place for a special meal.

$ 150 after tip/​tax for two people, steaks, wine, split appetizer. Charming, good food.
We ordered the most expensive things on the menu. had a filet and a New York Steak. New York came with French fries and some kind of sauce. Overly aged meats. Which makes them tender, but looses the succulent hearty steak flavor in my opinion. Filet was better. Would prefer more creative french side dish than french fries.
Go to a french restaurant for the flair of cooking, not a slab o’ grilled meat and french fries. I should have ordered something else.
Owner is sweet, but too sweet for me. French people are not like that. I’m thinking she’s a little… chisley. working the angles too much. pimping out her frenchness.
They had bright colored stickers in the window next to our table from every social media networking website you could imagine. The waiters are nice, but feel like high school kids not pros is another example of chisley feel I got. Probably underpaid… I’m just saying there are Cheesy undertones to the place.
Fine dining, but not that fine. nothing I’m going to care to remember. If you go here order something more daring. I might be overly harsh in my review, I might have just missed out on the full experience by ordering the wrong thing.

What a refreshing French restaurant. Owner is so sweet. Our dinners were so good. We will come back when we are in town. Service was very, very good. We love this restaurant.

Went here on a Friday night for dinner– we didn’t have reservations and didn’t get to the restaurant until 9pm and so I was worried the kitchen was going to close. However, upon entering the restaurant and being greeted by Aimee herself, she said they would stay open as long as we needed it. :) She’s a super chic Parisian woman with Chanel glasses.
We ordered the appetizer of the day– Beef Cheek ($ 17) and then the entrée special of Filet Mignon ($ 30) and the Bouillabaisse ($ 20). I loved the rose I ordered (don’t remember the name) and he got some Belgium beer.
Everything was delish and the customer service was wonderful– Aimee asked us our names and called us «sweetheart» and «sweets» and «dear» all evening. Definitely felt well taken care of and she checked up on us often.
I wanna come back to try the fruit tart! Looked so yum.

Their used to be a really good French restaurant near South High (close to Candy Cane Lane area) that my family and I would go to. Their pea soup was to die for! Unfortunately, they closed it down. YEAAAARS ago!
Last year, we went here for my dad’s birthday dinner. When my mom saw the owner, she couldn’t believe it. It was the same owner from that previous French restaurant! ANDDD. the owner happened to remember the whole fam. :D
He gave us his specials of the day, which was this potato cheese soup.BIZZOMB.
& I think it was a range of seafood and lamb.
I got myself some gnocchi. which was my first time trying it. I don’t think it’s really my thing, but everyone’s food was super yums.
Can’t wait to come back!

This place is just ok… I wasn’t that impressed by the food and definitely didn’t think they were worth the prices. That said, I did love the ambiance (they had an accordion player which was nice). I really really wanted to be blown away by the food. Aimee recommended we try the special appetizer, the ahi tuna tartare. That was actually really good — fresh fish, avocado and surprisingly watermelon! I probably liked this more than anything else, though it was a $ 19 appetizer (yikes…). My boyfriend wasn’t feeling well and decided to order something small, and went with a salad. He asked for some chicken in it (it didn’t come with chicken) and thought overall it was good but not great. I did really like the walnuts in it. He was surprised to see that when we got the bill, the salad which is normally priced at 9.95 became $ 18 — that’s a lot extra to charge for some chicken on top. I ordered the veal skirt steak which didn’t really blow me away… there was enough for me to take home so it was a larger sized dish. Perhaps if we had ordered off the specials menu it would have all tasted better, though it would still have been overpriced. I don’t know, in my opinion, you can get better food that is less expensive or comparably priced elsewhere. Aimee’s was nothing to write home about.

Overall:
This place was pretty good. There were some things I wouldn’t recommend, but for the most part — I was quite satisfied. The only reason we found this place was because my friends and I were looking for a restaurant that served Foie Gras. They wanted to try it because the ban on July 1 of this year.
Food:
+ Appetizer Dip: mixed between salsa and guacamole to start off. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but it was SOOO delicious that I even took my calamari appetizer to dip into that guac/​salsa concoction.
+ Calamari: This was really plain. I would not recommend that dish.
+ Foie Gras: Very buttery and delicious. It didn’t taste as heavy as the Foie Gras I had at the Gordon Ramsey. It was quite appetizing and it was served like those fancy steaks (garnished with a «chip» decoration) along side of some scallops.
+ Escargot: I’ve had Escargot in France and in America and I have to admit that this was the worst Escargot dish I have ever tasted. The buttery sauce didn’t have much flavor, but the snails tasted like they were burnt. I was disappointed I ended up paying for that dish.
Drinks:
We also asked for the sweetest wine and boy oh boy, was it sweet? It was delicious. We got 2 sweet drinks, one was a light crisp sweet taste & the other one was the sweetest wine I have ever tasted… no wonder they only give you a tiny serving of it because it can be a little overwhelming.
Service:
I can see why this place has high ratings. The owner of the place (Aimee) is very friendly. She is this sweet old lady that usually greets you at the door, may even kiss your cheek, takes your hand, treats you like you are family and takes you to your seat. She definitely makes you feel like you are very welcomed into her restaurant. There was also an accordion player that played some music, while you are eating, which made it even cozier.
Environment:
Ambiance was very nice and modern. It was a little crowded and we our seats were pretty close to the next table, which was a little awkward.

I really enjoyed dining here. We had no reservations but Aimee (the owner) said it’s okay. She greeted us warmly at the door.
One of their specials was the seared Foie Gras, with seared scallops in a pomegrante reduction, it was soo good! Presentation was great.
For dinner I had the duck breast, duck confit, brined vegetables and scalloped potatoes. It was very tasty and delicious. The duck confit is a bit too salty but nevertheless cooked very well.
For dessert, I had the grand marnier soufflé, it was very good. Fresh out of the oven, took about 15 minutes.
Our waiter was nice, attentive and recommended a great french wine which was also good. I will look for the bottle and add to my collection at home. I don’t like too strong bordeaux wines and this one was perfect.
Overall, a great evening with great french food, great ambience, classy without being stuffy. Even had live french music.
This one’s a keeper and I will for sure be back.

A delightful evening of elegant French cuisine. We decided to go to get in some foie gras appetizer before the ban and it did not disappoint. I had the filet mignon which was great and tried some rack of lamb which was tasty (best part is right up on the bone).
For dessert we tried the berry cobbler, crème brûlée and chocolate mousse which were all very good. My favorite was the berry cobbler. The mousse is extremely rich and thick.
The best part of the dining experience was having the owner Aimee come out and talk to us about the food and her life. She is very charming and delightful.

We were in the area, and going to another place to eat, but saw Aimee’s in passing and remembered it being mentioned in Los Angeles Magazine.
We came in and between the smell of the room, noticing the place was clean, and the completely charming Aimee, we changed our plans.
Started with a bottle of wine, and our great female Russian server walked us threw the menu.
We started with the soup of the day, which was potato and artichoke. Moved on to a wonderful fresh salad with basalmic dressing.
My wife order the Veal Oso Buce on risotto, my choice was the Coqa Vin with roasted vegetables. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Mousse.
Everything was wonderful, and perfectly executed.

I went there a few month ago it was good (and that’s a French who tells you) ;-)
They made a mistake with the starter (wrong type of foie gras) but they offered coffee and glass of wine. Staff is very friendly.
I recommend it.
There was as well an accordéon player, great.
Bön appétit !

Their souffles are still one of the best I’ve had and Aimee? What can I say, Aimee still one of the sweetest proprietors around; always makes us feel so welcomed.
However, our dinners this weekend just wasn’t up to par. My coquilles Saint-​Jacques was bland with over cooked pasta. Of the two Bouillabaisses ordered at our table, one had a bad mussel. The service was slow and we had to follow up with our server for a number of our requests. Our server overall was ok but was either not very knowledgeable about the food or was not proper trained on how to make recommendations.
Next time? Maybe just go for the soufflé.
