I had a question/​conflict with the payment after Chef Dion served sushi at my party– I was charged for a service that I never received. After he ignored several emails and a voicemail over the course of a few days, I was finally able to get ahold of him. Instead of addressing the problem, he made serval nonsensical excuses and then stopped responding. We have no been able to get in touch with him since.
After spending more than a thousand dollars on his sushi services, I find it incredibly poor business to ignore a customer when they have been overcharged. Will not be using his sushi/​services again.

Decent sushi for delivery but stay away from Chef Dion and his catering services!!! My company had ordered from Fishontap for a client event and were impressed with the sushi and on time delivery. Chef Dion had mentioned when he made the delivery that he also provided event services and we could have them on site for our next event. The cost was substantially more ($ 1200 for 30 people) but we decided to give it a try for a fun more customized experience. This was a HUGE mistake. On top of the flat rate per person prices, we were contracted for a sushi chef ($ 300) and an assistant chef ($ 150) which was fine because it was all part of creating a unique experience for our guests.
Before the event we had pre-​selected several rolls that he indicated he would be making throughout the night, and he let us know that our guests could make requests and he would make special rolls and he would make them in real time as long as they used the ingredients he brought and we had included in the contract. He arrived on time and proceeded to set up but the assistant chef still hadn’t shown up when the event started. Once my guests arrived I was busy entertaining and several people told me he was «exasperated» at the request for special roles and was unfriendly. At the time I assumed that he was just a little overwhelmed, and running behind since the assistant hadn’t showed up and he was working for 2. Everyone can have an off day and he was so great to work with prior and had been upbeat and fun when he first arrived and we were getting set up.
He brought flimsy 3 inch cocktail plates to serve on, that fit a few sushi pieces but didn’t leave room for the soy sauce treys, edamame or seaweed salad we were also serving. Given we were hosting this event in a boutique clothing store (all white everywhere) I had brought out some larger more sturdy plates to use that everything fit on and I thought would help to avoid spills and potential damage to the venue. When I did that he chastised me loudly in front of my guests telling me the plates were too big and people would eat too much. I explained to him why I was doing it and he continued to disagree with me loudly. If he felt there would be a shortage of food he should have pulled me aside rather then saying it repeatedly in front of the clients I was entertaining. It was completely inappropriate, unprofessional way to handle the situation. Not to mention embarrassing. Given it was a group of all women, we over estimated on the head count in-​order to make sure we had extra and as expected at the end of the night we had a bunch of sushi left over.
The morning after the event my event coordinator reached out to Chef Dion and asked him to refund the $ 150 charge for the assistant chef since he hadn’t arrived. He ignored her email so I followed up with a phone call and email the next day. Finally the following day he responded via email (rather then returning a paying customers phone call) saying that he had 2 events that day and the assistant was for set up. He couldn’t have done both events without the assistant chefs help so he was unwilling to refund the fee.
Not only was this not how he positioned the assistant chef on my contract, but this response still didn’t make make sense given the assistant chef was at no point at my event. Best case he provided a contract that was unclear, and when confronted about it he handled it unprofessionally. Worst case he’s making it up because the assistant didn’t show up and he didn’t want to refund the money.
I’ve attached my contract with him so all can see the line items as he presented to me. It didn’t indicate the person was for set-​up, the person was offsite, or any of the other excuses he threw at me after the fact. Looking at this contract I had no reason to believe anything other then that he would be there and he would have an assistant there to help him.
Overall this is a bad way to conduct business, and he provided a poor experience for my event. He won’t be getting my business again or the 5 other colleagues of mine that throw these type of events on a weekly basis. In addition, the venue we held the event likely would have used him for events they do outside of mine but they were also unimpressed with his demeanor and professionalism.

Chef Dion aka Uncle Sushi is a delight to be around. I had the pleasure of meeting Dion while working for the same company out here on the East coast. We remained friends of course because he’s such an awesome person. I can’t speak for the taste of his Sushi but from the pictures I see, I’m sure they’re worth 1000 words!

We had an event at a Benefit Makeup Salon for about 30 women, and Chef Dion dropped off sushi for us! He was very helpful when helping me design the perfect menu and sushi amount, and he made sure it was within our budget. He showed up with all the supplies and extras you could ever want, and the sushi was delicious!!! Thank you Chef Dion for the great experience, we will be calling you again! :)

With only 2 days notice, Chef Dion made the impossible possible.

Just had some delicious sushi from chef dion at a holiday party. Amazing!!!

I really want tot hank Chef Dion and his crew for making my sister’s wedding an unforgettable night. We knew that we wanted sushi for her wedding but these guys blew it over the roof with their sushi. First of all, the presentation was so gorgeous and really made the venue stand out. The quality of the sushi was just so fresh and delicious. We got a lot of compliments over the food and we area very happy that we chose you guys to do it for us! Thanks a bunch!

Chef Dion was beyond amazing, the sushi was delicious it looked incredible, was very fresh. He played amazing relaxing music all through the night, and even hung out and partied with the guests after which everyone appreciated:)) I would recommend Chef Dion for any party large or small!

What a blast! Chef Dion helped my girlfriends and I (and brother!) make memories for a lifetime! He made some delicious sushi treats for us, as well as gave us a fun, interactive and very helpful lesson! I hosted the sushi lesson party at my house and was so impressed by Chef Dion. He came over early, got everything set up, created a very positive and upbeat vibe for the event AND did most of the cleanup! I actually got to truly relax and enjoy a party at my place without running around all night. It was such a unique event and one that will always be remembered. Everyone had a blast and left with smiles and very full bellies. Chef’s food, energy and talent are all superb and I highly recommend hiring him:-)!

Chef Dion’s sushi catering company, Fishontap, is an absolute delight. I have had the pleasure of attending several events catered by Fishontap, including one that I hosted in my own home. The sushi was phenomenal and the instruction was fun for those interested in learning. Personally, I’d rather just invite Chef Dion back and have another party!

Chef Dion is amazing! I won a sushi party from Fishontap at a silent auction fundraiser for Mychal’s Learning Place, a nonprofit organization that serves children and adults with developmental disabilities. Chef Dion came to the house and entertained us with his sparkling personality and most unbelievably delicious sushi. He taught us how to make spicy tuna rolls and hand rolls. We all drank sake’ and had a great time! My friends were all very impressed by Chef Dion’s skills. We would definitely do this again!

Chef Dion is one of the kind! We had a birthday party and were looking to do something different, I called 5 sushi catering companies. I tell you, the only one who was responsive and had a great personality is Chef Dion. He works with your budget and communicated every step so you do not have any questions and feel comfortable. On the day of the party, he showed up early and on time, he had bunch of food surprises and his sushi was very tasty and delicious. The only thing people are still talking about from that night is Chef Dion and his awesome personality and of course his amazing food. Thank you Chef, I cannot wait for another party to have you join us. Choosing you was the best decision I made, you rock!

Hired Chef Dion for my birthday party last November for 30 of my friends. Was the best birthday I’ve ever had! He came prepared with an abundance of appetizers including pot stickers, edamame, spring rolls etc and then proceeded to make sushi on the spot with fresh fish, veggies and fruit. So much amazing food and plenty left over. He was also gracious enough to make up sushi on requests from my guests. Add sake and wine and its a perfect night in!

I was looking for a «different» way to throw a surprise birthday for my girl and this fit the bill. Chef Dion met my friends at my house while I took her out for a few hours and by the time we returned he had a full sushi bar set up with delicious rolls made to order. He was flexible, gracious, professional and well worth the price and my gf and her friends were delighted. Thanks Chef D. for helping me make her birthday an outstanding event!
