Well That Was A Great Location. … My Family Did Well There For 28 Years Or So… If I Was Younger And Wealthy… I’d Open A DeSimone Market… LOL

Goodbye Haggen. You are like that awkward coworker who came in for a week before getting let go. I hear you are closing all your stores. Prices were WAY too high. Even during your going-out-of-business sale. Another shopper was pushing an empty cart, saying how she found zero deals because 60% off your prices was STILL more expensive than that of your competition. So true. SMH. An employee told me that this location is making way for a Smart & Final Express. That is why most fixtures and store cookware were not on sale. Inneresting…

This is the first time in my life that I’ve gotten to watch«Corporate Incompetence» up close, this store is closing. The sad part is that the local folks will be out of work and the incompetent people at Haggen Headquarters will probably keep there jobs. Hopefully«Ralph’s» will re open here.

I was asking one of the employees if they were going to «make it» the last time I was in there. Hardly any customers could be seen and after an expensive makeover from the previous Albertson’s tenant, I didn’t think it could last long. I hear now they in in BK. Can anyone confirm this? It has nice produce and products, but the prices are certainly more in line with Whole Foods than Albertsons.

Very convenient to my home however I only go there in an emergency 1. Expensive. Compared to other chains they seem significant priced higher 2. Poor selection. Tried to buy boneless skinless chicken thighs. None who doesn’t carry that? Bread aisle routinely cleaned out only one brand of pita chips… I could go on 3. No ambience or energy. Seems like even the employees don’t want to beg there. 4. Poor bakery section. Very little to choose from It’s the closest store to my house but I routinely drive right past it to head to another grocery store.

Wanted ice cream. Besides a limited selection and most of the ice cream was covered in ice like it sat in the freezer for years, all brands of ice cream were 6.99 a quart! 6.99 for a quart of ice cream is ridiculous. I went there a few times prior to that visit and I agree, the shelves were empty. What they do have, they want the premium price for it. I understand that they have to make a profit, but to do so by trying to sell things at an insane price? It’s no wonder they are going out of business. I won’t be back.

This was my local store. Tried very hard to like this store. Went in today, and there shelves are getting very empty. London Broil on sale but they were out. No more organic chicken. I said something to the cashier and she said they were out of a few things. A few things? Everything is more expensive. Parking lot is empty. Will be switching to another store.

It was an armpit when it was Albertson’s and it’s not much better now. An energy drink was $ 2.39 each on the shelf. Picked up a packaged up 4 pack and they wanted $ 11.69 for the 4 pack. I asked the cashier about it and he said, it’s $ 11.69. No offer to get 4 cans or resolve the issue, and he was very distracted talking to the employee in line behind me and another employee behind him. None of them offered a resolution. Thanks but no thanks.

My wife shops here infrequently and repeatedly complains to me because the prices are too high. We went to Albertsons before it became Haggens and noticed that prices were generally much higher than Ralph’s and Von’s. And Haggen seems to be carrying on that tradition of steep prices. I’m not sure why Haggen does not seem to care enough to fix this bc I have a feeling they will not do well in California. Groceries are kind of like gasoline and folks will drive just a little more to get a cheaper price if the local station is a little high.

I’ve been trying to give this place a chance since the change over from Albertsons, but I just can’t help but see all the differences. This is my neighborhood grocery store, my go-to like traders is for others. Prices are much higher, the fruits and vegetables don’t look like the better quality, but most of all we miss the friendly staff. Employees use to be happier and provided quality service from deli, to veggie to bakery And of course the cashiers. Now, I hear more negative talk at the register among staff, and complaints. We are not greeted with a warm remarks from the veggie/fruit stock personnel anymore. The final draw was this tuna salad croissants sandwich pre-made at the deli that I picked up earlier today around 10:30am. When I was biting into the tuna salad sandwich, I felt a couple of crunches and thought was that a celery or onion??? Then I spit it out and saw a peanut. I was shocked. The ingredients did not say any peanuts. This was concerning because obviously they are not being careful when they prepare their foods in the deli. With all the peanut /but allergies, you would think this cross contamination would not occur. My children are allergic to peanuts and if they took a bite of this we would be in a anaphylactic situation that may have lead to a significant adverse event. Luckily, someone was watching out for us and my kids opted to order a burger at the snack bar vs. Eat this cold tuna sandwich that was contaminated with peanuts. Thank God… It was me and not them!

VERYDISAPPOINTING, based on all the press about the company being an ideal blend of traditional large chains and Whole Foods, with unique and special features. they are not any better/more special than other major chains but AREMOREEXPENSIVE! And they are absolutely nothing like Whole Foods and similar. they deserve 3 stars for being average but get dinged one for false expectations based on their own claims and quotes to the press!

I just visited Haggen for the first time since they made the switch over from Albertsons. It looks basically the same as it did before, the only difference is the signage. It seemed like even the products they carry are the same as before. So if you loved Albertsons, do not fret!

Today was my third visit since the transformation from Albertsons and I left without buying anything. What I was there for was a piece of chuck roast to make pot roast. The only thing they had in the prepackaged selection, were cuts around 1 lb., and I wanted something around 3 lbs. Went over to meat department and asked for a larger cut when the counter guy finally finished a lengthy conversation with a lady that didn’t apparently buy anything. I asked for the package size I needed and he promptly tells me I’m 10 minutes to late because the person that cuts meat just left for lunch, something I’d never encountered when the store was Albertsons. Since I was there primarily for meat for the pot roast I planned to make and any other regular grocery items on my list, I left the cart empty and went to Ralph’s. Interestingly, at Ralph’s I encountered the exact same situation, asked the guy that was stocking the case and he went into the back and brought out 3 different packages of about the same weight, so I had a choice. I’m not a big Ralph’s fan, but I even less of Haggen fan now. Saved over 20 cents a pound too.

This use to be the old Albertsons. I like the new store. I can tell there’s more variety in the seafood and meat department. Everything else is pretty much the same. I heard from a worker that Haggen’s philosophy is to source locally and sustainably so that’s a plus. The only knock is the service at the fish counter could be a little better; there’s a young lady who didn’t have a great attitude(I had asked a question about their pink shrimp and she annoyingly responds«I don’t know»), hence the minus one star.

I was worried of the change but i like the change. The produce is way better and local. I could tell what was left from albertsons as it was from mexico. They have more stuff now like the cactus leaves and even poke!(though the poke isn’t the best ive had, its progress). The same great employees! as when it was albertsons. It also has the same excellent guacamole. I buy my pet food at the petstore(right next door) so i dont know about those prices. The parking lot has been a lot more full since the change too. I think the liquor Isle could use some better selection. Thats my only suggestion so far. Prices seem in line with what they were before.

I didn’t like this grocery store. I went to the flower department and there were prices missing. The staff members ignored me even though I was right in front of them. I like the large open isles. But prices are not the best. The selections are lacking also.

Haggens replace Albertson’s, which was my main grocery store. I heard rumors it would be more upscale, like a cross between Whole Foods and Route. It definitely is more upscale, with a much bigger floral department and an expanded deli offering upscale cuts of beefexpensive as well as more upscale. Definitely some prices have gone up, no more 30% discount for six bottle wine purchase, instead they offer a 10% discount on four or more bottles of wine. I stopped in today to buy a few things and check it out. There were a few changes, the floral department is much bigger, and the deli has expanded. I bought a few crabcakes and Ahi poki to take home for appetizers. I had to try a bite of the poki, it was so good I finished the whole container myself!

Although the exterior is different, the interior of this new Haggen looks just like the Albertsons it replaced. Actually, worse. It’s a dimly-lit, dreary, uninspiring atmosphere. No colorful displays, just downright depressing. I stopped in today hoping to find the organic pre-pack greens I love to eat daily. I did find them, but the selection was lacking. Figured I could at least pick up some cat food I always buy elsewhere… until I saw the price. Um, no. Maybe some sliced ham at the deli, I thought. Half of it was brownish. No to that, too. They get a star for carrying EcoSmart non-chemical bug spray, just as Albertsons did. As I left without buying anything, I realized why the parking lot was so delightfully vacant of cars. There were only a couple of shoppers in the store. If this place wants to charge upscale grocery prices, they’d better step up their game. I’d go back for the EcoSmart spray, but for no other reason. I guess me and the cat will do pizza delivery tonight. We’re hungry!

Up until a couple of days ago this was an Albertsons. Now brand new market. Glad of the change. More Grocery options! Next time? Yes next week.
