History

Established in 2008.

Kala Koa concert events have showcased some of the hottest talent in the world — from legendary Hawaiian slack key guitarists and singers (Southern California Slack Key Festival, Aloha Falsetto Festival) to some of the most respected flamenco talent in the country (Los Angeles Flamenco Festival).

I’m proud to host the majority of my live events at the beautiful Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, home to state-​of-​the-​art Sound and Lighting Systems, computerized climate-​control systems and plentiful FREE parking.

Now with the new L.A. Guitar Festival as part of an annual lineup and a new ongoing acoustic series, I look forward to bringing even more innovative and family-​friendly performance events to the South Bay of Los Angeles in 2011.

Business Owner

Mitchell Chang is the owner of Kala Koa Entertainment and the Producer/​Creator of four landmark Festival events: the Southern California Slack Key Festival (2008, 2009, 2010), the Aloha Falsetto Festival (2008, 2009), the 2010 Los Angeles Flamenco Festival and the upcoming 2011 Los Angeles Guitar Festival. These Festivals broke new ground by tapping into previously underrepresented niches and brilliantly captured new markets with fans who return year after year to fill the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.

A graduate of the University of Hawaii music program, Mitchell is also an accomplished and well-​known ukulele and Hawaiian slack key guitar instructor and performer.
