Love this store! Very helpful folks. I had two kitchen drawers that broke in two different ways. They had the old back bracket to repair the one drawer and it even came with the screws and nails that were needed. They also recommended a particular type of wood putty to repair the broken track on the other drawer. Good old fashioned service.

This is a nice little hardware store. The prices are a little higher than big box stores, however they have good customer service. They will return items with receipt or store credit without receipt.

Typical loose fasteners section is OK but not enough stainless steel selection and what they do have is not of high quality. Plumbing is same– just enough selection to get you by. Not saying HD is better but certainly, to stay in business, you need to stock what others don’t.

Great little local hardware store with most everything you can find in a ‘big box’ store without the hassle of too many people and too little parking. Needed some hard to find little screws and the help they offered to help me find them was wonderful (and they had them). New management so much better than the old management. I am back as a fan!

Forget about Lowes, Orchard Supply Hardware and Home Depot… Kurt True Value Hardware has most solutions to every problem and can fulfill many needs locally.
Their prices are fair and service is where they truly earn their marks.
I fully support businesses like Kurt and don’t nickle/​dime price shop the small stuff where if you go to the big retail chains, you’ll spend your cost savings on the gas and value of your time, where if you just go to Kurt, you’ll not only find comparable value, but both convenience as well as courtesy.
I had widow screens made here, they’re less than $ 20 each, brand new, custom and ready within the next day.

Hands down best prices and BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE around, you can’t find that anymore! I feel like I’m family when I’m there!

Classic True Value… lot of little things you may need with any home repair, but don’t have to wade through the superstore nightmare. Parking is a challenge, but there is parking around the back.

I am giving them 5 stars for customer service alone. When I walk in, I am always asked if I need help. I usually do have questions. I like to buy stuff at estate sales and fix them up for my home. I like vintage items. I was surprised to learn I could have a basic lamp re-​wired starting at $ 10.00. The down side of the great pricing is I keep buying vintage lamps, lighting, and even a chandelier. Recently they made me a modified bedroom screen so my cats could go in out the window. The design is not what I had envisioned, actually it is better, one would not know if was for a cat entry. The price on that was extremely reasonable.
When I go to the big box hardware stores, I have to track someone down and I find someone usually outside of the department I need the help in. You rarely get someone who provide you with feedback. Or ask you if you considered doing ‘this’ way, a better way.
I can be pretty handy myself, but sometimes I run stuff by the staff to see if it feasible.

You owe it to yourself to go here if you are reading this review. I’ve been trying to find hardware for a porch swing for quite some time now. Big box store was fairly hopeless. Doesn’t seem like it would be something that would be hard to find — but I was having a lot of trouble. I came here, two seconds later I had a nice little kit that was exactly what I needed.
It’s a smaller place, so I’m certainly not saying they have everything under the sun, but I will 100% come back here for hardware first before going to the big box — especially if I need something specific.
The service was really friendly and knowledgeable and I actually ended up picking up some other things I needed that I could not find elsewhere. I would highly recommend this little hardware store. These are the kind of places that we need to frequent, keep around and keep successful.

Always have a great experience at Kurt’s. Staff have always been very helpful and even though it seems like a small’ish store compared to the likes of Home Depot … they always seem to have what I’m looking for. Support the Mom and Pop Stores!

This is the kind of place you go with a problem. I’ve come in asking for things I thought they’d laugh me out of the store for but the patient staff is always helpful. They’ve even McGuyver’d a few things for me when no one else would even come up with a suggestion. Need a new screen, a window fan, toilet tank rig, a piece of pvc cut for a school project? This is the place to go. I live and own a biz locally and the convenience and helpfulness isn’t something I find anywhere else.

Exceptional service. Very helpful staff. Stopped in for the first time. needed a faucet stem. The gal went out of her way to make sure I got the correct stem, and then her assistant advised that we could simply fix my old stem by replacing the washer, which they did for me without asking. It was like a $ 50 consultation for a 75c washer! Highly recommend this place.

I have shopped here probably 100 times… I recently completed a DIY remodel of my house and I stopped in almost every day. The reasons for the solid 5 stars…
–Selection… of course this is not a lumber yard or nursery… but they have just about everything else you will ever need in terms of paint, hardware, cleaning, hand tools, power tools, their plumbing and electrical selection is not only complete but also so much easier to find what you need. They also have lots of little sections you might not expect like audio/​visual stuff, garden chemicals, insect repellent, etc. If you don’t know if they have an item go ahead and call them up… a real human will answer the phone immediately and help you.
–Prices… the prices here are very competitive with the big box stores. If you catch a sale on paint or a particular item you may actually save money.
–Service… this is the best part… when you have a question about something they don’t just point you to an aisle where you have to search endlessly. They are happy to take you to the exact spot and make sure you get the correct item you need.
–Convenience… this is great. There is plenty of parking (remember there is more parking in the back). The is always plenty of helpful staff, and almost never a line to check out. From the time you park you can generally get in and out in 5 minutes even chatting with the staff.
Make you life easier, save time and gas, support a local business… give KTV a try and you won’t be disappointed.

If you live in the South Bay, you need to go to Kurt’s. I am always surprised by the selection and low prices. I was always disappointed by Home depot, (except Torrance, they are awesome) but after Kurt’s, I don’t need Home Depot anymore. They make you feel like you are the only person that matters at that moment, even when it’s busy.

These guys are amazing, Always there to help and usually have what you are looking for. It’s like the good old days of Neighborhood customer service that got lost with the Home Depots of the world.

I have now stepped foot in here myself, so I can write a first hand review. Well, it looks like a hardware store. It’s a bit of a hodgepodge mess… In a good way. The employees were friendly and helpful. There were at least 2 that were checking up front to see who needed help.
My hubby bought the wrong size brackets to secure a dresser to the wall (we have a monkey 2 year old). I went in and someone happily got me the next size up, rang up the difference in price and had me out the door in 2 minutes flat. They were very friendly to my son.
I was shocked to see a shelf of toys for kids. It seems like this store carries a little bit of everything you might need for your home. It’s great to have these smaller, convenient hardware stores.

Remember customer service? Went out the door with Home Depot .
Waking into Kurt True Value is like walking back in time, when the neighbor Hardware guy could always be counted on for advice and help on home repairs.
These guys are really on top of it and help point me in the right direction to get in and out with exactly what I came for.

Oh the choices… Lowes, Home Depot or Kurt’s, sure the big Boxes stores might save you a few cents on your purchase but considering that you need to know exactly what you are looking for and which aisle it resides in you will spend more time looking for it at the big box stores, if you are lucky you might find a big box employee that can direct you to the section you are looking for but for the most part you are on your own, so you go to Kurt’s; ask one of the friendly, helpful employees, they take you to the aisle you are looking for help you find the exact item, take you back to the register, ring you up and you are on your way home in less time than it would take you to walk to your section (providing you know where it is) at the big box store. So if your time is worth more than a few cents, if you want to talk to someone knowledgeable about the parts you need to complete your project and most of all if you want to be treated like you matter then go to your local neighborhood hardware store.

I love this place! It’s so conveniently located in the neighborhood, it takes me just a short walk if I need to get something fixed. The staff here is always super friendly and extremely helpful when you have no idea what to get. It’s definitely my go-​to place for quick hardware items!
