History

Established in 2008.

Pop Physique opened its doors to Silverlake in the fall of 2008 and has since spread across L.A., up the coast to San Francisco, and across the country to Florida and Baltimore. Pop Physique was created by Jennifer Williams, a former professional ballet dancer and Pilates instructor, and her husband Deric, a brand developer. Jennifer studied ballet at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, and danced professionally with the Cincinnati Ballet, Dayton Ballet, Ballet Met, and the Sacramento Ballet. After having children she became certified in Pilates and taught for seven years. She discovered the Lotte Berk system and was so impressed with the results that she created her own company and class that has quickly become one of the most popular and challenging barre workout brands around.

Meet the Business Owner

Elena C.

Business Owner

Elena C. joined the Pop Physique family in 2009 and immediately fell in love with the workout and energetic vibe of the class. Elena grew up in Santa Cruz, CA studying ballet, and found that Pop Physique worked her out in a similar way, and left her sore for days– she was discovering muscles she had forgot existed. She quickly became one of the most popular teachers at the Westside Pop Physique– known for a fast paced, upbeat, and challenging class. Elena also has her 200 hour Yoga teacher certification through White Lotus in Santa Barbara, and found that Pop Physique helped her deepen her practice by giving her the extra strength she needed to attain certain advanced arm balances and inversions.

The changes she saw in her clients posture, strength, and esteem from taking Pop Physique were what drove her to open her studio– nothing is more rewarding than seeing clients feel good about their bodies and gain strength and flexibility all while having fun.
