Select Beer Store

I promise this is a true story– After a Laker game in about 77, my buddy pulled in front and I ran in this store (Riveria Liquor, back then) for a six pack. As I approached the counter, two young black guys entered the store with guns and demanded money– The owner grabbed his under the counter. I turned and dove back by the beer cooler as shots rang out. Not knowing who won the gun fight I went in back room and climbed on top of the cooler to hide. I heard the store owner calling police and I hollered at him, knowing he’d won the gun fight– Telling him I was coming out. When I did he accused me of being involved and forced me at gunpoint to lie next to the dead kid, blown nearly in half– I still have nightmares !!

Great resource for craft beer. Selection isn’t overly intimidating, but they carry many west coast labels and my usual east coast loves (ommegang, dogfish, etc). They have about one cold case dedicated to each style (ipa, stout, etc) and a dry shelf area with many similar labels plus some.
On a Saturday night pickup, I noticed that most tables/​bar seating were full of people in a very chill way. They had a good dozen beers on tap. I had asked the bartender for a suggestion for a sour beer and was a little disappointed in the recommendation when I cracked it open with a friend. But if you know what you want, good place to go!

This is one of my happy places! The selection of great craft beers is expansive. The servers are very knowledgeable and courteous. The clientele is diverse and not the bunch of drunks that you find at your local sports bar. There are NO TVs which allows for conversation without shouting to be heard.
Because this is not just a bar, you can take home single bottles of beers that you like. The selections on tap are excellent. The hand-​drawn signs above the taps are wonderful. No food is offered, but they are open to you bringing in your own food. Relax at a table with friends or make new friends at the bar. I can picture myself playing backgammon with a friend here.
There are many events throughout the month when they introduce a new brewery. I’ll see you there!

This is our local to-​go spot. I have only lived in Redondo for a little over a year from Culver City where we had lots of cool bars. I never thought I’d find anything I would enjoy as much here in the South Bay but alas Select Beer Store!
I love coming in and having Chris greet us with a big smile! Everyone who works here is awesome! Yeah the beer selection is amazing but what makes it better is the cool vibes of everyone who works here.

Very cool place with a great tap selection. Nice employees and and inviting environment makes this a fun place to hang out and we will go back many times. I love that they support local breweries with their drafts.

I love these places where you can buy a single craft beer that piques your interest from the coolers! Like Sunset Beer in Echo Park, this place has a wide range of beers from around the world (tons of Belgians if you like that style). Pick a beer, they’ll open it for you and you can enjoy it right on the premises. They have samplers and drafts on tap too if you prefer. No food, but you can have food delivered and/​or bring it in. The staff is nice. I only wish there was a little more cozyness inside, it is very stark, i think the ambiance could benefit from a little more soft surfaces to flatten the noise/​echo level and create more of a homey vibe vs the industrial one it currently has.

A very solid store. Not just your typical liquor store. The entire place makes you feel like you’re in your dad’s den simply full of beer from wall to wall. The fun knick knacks on the walls plus the seating spots add another touch of cozy to the atmosphere. Another thing that separates this place from a typical liquor store is that they host events. Not too long ago there was a chili cook festival and a mini Oktoberfest. PLUS, Select Beer Store has a bar including tastings. This place is awesome!
You’re here at the Select Beer Store to try something a little different. I say only a little different because you still have some of your familiar beers, but also many unique and more rare beers. If it’s something you want to drink before heading out, they offer a service where you can drink your beer of purchase from inside their very own store. A few bucks extra to do so but I say it’s worth it.
I’m definitely a fan of this place, however, it might cost just a tiny bit more for a bottle here than at other competitive liquor stores. On the plus side, the service is very knowledgeable and very friendly. It’s not run by a lonely guy with the usual «uuuuhhh» attitude. You have genuine people here with a personality that shouts, «please, take our beer and drink with us.» Service is definitely top notch.
When you put everything together, this liquor store puts together both purchase and fun experiences together. That’s what really sets this place apart. Looking back, to call it a liquor store would be an insult. Come see for yourself if you have never been to Select Beer Store. Prepare to see fun, like minded crowds and wonderful booze selections.

I just started coming here since I work next door, I’m not much of a beer lover but the ambiance and friendly people keep me coming back! all the beers I’ve tried so far are really good! The bartenders are really friendly nice and funny especially Ryan

A cool store that has seating, open space, and plenty of beers from around the world. They also serve beer on tap. Great place to come by and grab a drink with broskies, or to take someone on a casual date.
The tables aren’t the most comfortable and the room can get kind of loud, but temper expectations and enjoy the beer and you will have a good time.
2 things I wish they did differently. One, stay open later (only open until 10pm). Doesn’t need to be 2am, but 11am or midnight would be cool. Two, have more Asian beers (Tsing Tao, Asahi, etc.)

Nice place to come for a beer before going home. Wish they had wine options also, and a few snacks.

Cool, chill place to hang out and try some new brews. You can pay $ 4 for samplers on draft. I like how they support local breweries like smog city. There’s beers on tap, refrigerators and shelves here… a huge selection of beers that are harder to find. Servers had good recommendations and were really friendly. I enjoyed the atmosphere and will defiantly come back :)

This is a pretty cool place next to riviera Mexican grill. They only serve beer so if you’re looking for something to munch on go elsewhere. They have a huge selection of bottled beer along the left wall and they have maybe about 12 – 14 on tap. I tried one if their red ales I couldn’t remember what it was called but it was great. Reminded me of a red trolley ale.

This place has 5 stars for a reason. Service, selection, A+++
The drive is a bit far for me but always worth it. They have beer on tap, beer in the fridge, beer on shelves. This is craft beer heaven. Good rare finds here as well.

Their beer selection is RIDIC in all the best ways possible. I imagine it’s impossible to enter this place without coming out broke but stocked with beer.
PARKING: Shared lot with ample street parking.
Note that they don’t serve any food, but when we brought in some snacks, they didn’t mention anything. They have a handful of beers on tap, but you can also make your selection of their EXTENSIVE stock and pay a small open bottle fee.
They have Stone Green Tea IPA in stock! Must come back to buy!

This is the best bottle shop and tasting room in all of the South Bay and possibly in L.A. or So Cal. It is also a hidden gem since it is only packed on special events, even though there are some key regulars that take up some of the stools at the the bar, but there are plenty of tables and standing room in front of the coolers and beer shelves.
You can bring your own take out food in here and there is a good selection of restaurants in the Rivera that you can get food or have it delivered. Or I always make Select my first stop before going out,
In addition the owner and the staff are all beer experts!

Grand selection for all taste bud preferences, plus ever changing beers on tap, which means you can also enjoy flights.
BYOF-​bring your own food. Casual (store with tables) and cool vibe. Bartenders are all knowledgeable and very friendly.
Great place to chill with friends and enjoy a good brew or two, three, four… you get the picture. Plus, they have trivia on Tuesdays.

God, can they stop serving good beer so that I can have more money in my wallet.
Shout out to the crew there (Brittany? Not sure which spelling it is), Wes, and Chris! So far, they have suggested plenty of good stuff. Staff is very knowledgeable and they have tried plenty of their products. Don’t be afraid to ask them!

A small but carefully curated selection of craft beer bottles/​cans and craft beer flights available on draft.
Bartenders are really welcoming and friendly. They’ll help you choose a beer if you are an indecisive person like me.
They have tables in their store where you bring dinner to pair with beer. My friend picked up dinner at The Standing Room.

Woah I actually am feeling a tad guilty that I have yet to review this place– especially since I make a trip here two/​three times a week
Select Beer Store is like having a local liquor store. minus the hard alcohol /​/​fizzy yellow beer and substituted for an amazing selection from micro-​breweries across the US along with a wide array of international beers, and tons of limited time release bottles
Oh. And did I mention there are 18 beers on tap that rotate weekly? Yeah.
Basically craft beer heaven
Rather than BYOB its BYOF– Everyone is more than welcome to bring in outside food, there is plenty of seating space, always good music playing, and everyone on their staff are just great people who enjoy great beer.
When you visit be sure to try some of the beers on tap, or– just grab a cold one out of the fridge section and crack it open in store for a small corkage fee. This place is my goto place to pick up beers for the weekend, or to experiment with some of the crazy stuff they get in store; I’ve had everything from a Coconut Curry Hefeweizen, to a Tart Lychee Sour, and just this week an Imperial Porter infused with Chai Tea… Crazy and delicious
Select Beer has completely spoiled me– no grocery store beer isle will every look the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great beers on tap and for purchase! I like that they change their beers regularly so you can try out different things. Awesome that they offer taster glasses. The bartenders are really friendly too. I just wish there was more parking =P
