Thistle Electric

Gerry and his team at Thistle Electric are exceptional. They installed a high amperage line and wall charger for an electric car. Gerry handled the city permits and inspection (which passed with flying colors). He’s an excellent communicator. The finished work looks great, and they cleaned up after themselves. I look forward to using him for future electrical projects.

Wondefull service, very professional, reasonable and all work was done sooner then been promised. It’s always a pleasure to do business with people who care. I would highly recommend this place. I am agreeing with 5star reviews/​this business deserves 10!!!

Gerry and Thistle electric installed our 240 V nema outlet for a Tesla. It was a complicated install, which they handled quickly and professionally. After the cabling was drawn from the panel, they patched all the openings in the ceiling, leaving them paint ready. While they were on sight, they also identified some mistakes (not to code) from our previous electrician, which they repaired at very little cost to me. All in all a very great experience!

Gerry is a straight shooter all the way. I was lucky enough to be set up with him by my realtor when I bought my house in Redondo. I had a bunch of inspections that day and Gerry was there to listen to an air conditioning guy that was trying to upsell me on a unit I didn’t need. Gerry went out of his way to make sure I got exactly what I needed for more than a fair price. Not only that, his work is impeccable. He brought my house from 60amps to 100amps and had to run new copper wiring from one side of the house to the other. This was so I can run air conditioning which I had no idea that beach city houses don’t usually have. He basically walked me through the whole thing. Really an amazing guy, great crew and like I said, impeccable work. I will use Gerry for all my electrical work, I wish he did more! Contractors are scary in this world and finding a good electrician seems impossible. Gerry is the one! Thanks again my friend.

Gerry was very responsive. He was booked out 2 weeks, but offered to call if any cancellations occurred. He called a couple days later with a time that worked perfect for us. We ended up solving the problem without Gerry, turned out to be a light switch we weren’t aware of that was pressed half-​way causing I guess a short. Gerry was understanding.

While I’m guessing that Gerry is a good electrician, I had some difficulty connecting with him. On my first contact, he left me a message asking ME to call him. No big deal. When I did, he seemed to have little sense of urgency about setting an appointment to come to my house. It was left a little wishy-​washy, as to what day he might contact me again. I sent him a message, via Unilocal,with a recap of the discussion and address/​contact details. I did not hear back from him, so I texted him this morning. He responded that he could not visit today, and would «keep me posted,» on his availability. That won’t work for me. I’m traveling a lot on business and need to be very specific on times.

I called Thislte last night with a residential electrical issues. Gerry replied right away and we set up a meeting for today. He and his crew came over, found a lurking issue which he fixed, and identified the main issue. The problem was outside in the main line, an Edison issue. Gerry told me who to call and what to say. Edison surprisingly came by within a few hours and fixed the corroded part. All done, inexpensively and quickly. Thx!

Thistle Electric did a great job for me! They were very quick to respond and very professional. I tried calling many different electricians and did not get any response. He was not only incredibly professional, but also very kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Gerry and his team were great to work with, very knowledge, friendly and dependable. Gerry was our last quote for the project and the only one that quoted code book and pick up on a code violation that saved us heart ache. He was very easy to work with and priority was to provide us with quality work. The inspection went quickly and passed with flying colors. I would recommend Gerry again and intend to use Thistle Electric in the next phases of our electrical overhaul of our new house.

OUTSTANDING AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I had a fairly large electrical job for my home remodel. It came down to two licensed electricians, and I’m glad I chose Gerry, the owner of Thistle Electric. Gerry personally spent a lot of time with me even before I signed a contract. He performed two thorough walk-​throughs and gave me a lot of great ideas and suggestions that I accepted. The job included recessed lighting throughout the entire house, ceiling fans, wiring for a chandelier, wiring for pendant lights, hanging lights and a chandelier, switches, bathroom exhaust fans, a hard wired smoke detector/​fire alarm system and running speaker wires throughout my entire house. There were a number of other small items as well, in addition to other issues he ran across during the project. Gerry always clearly explained what he found and what he recommended. He discounted additional work and went above-​and-​beyond in every aspect.
Gerry and his team had to make an enormous number of holes in my ceilings in order to run the wiring for the recessed lighting, ceiling fans and smoke detectors, since there is no attic crawl space. Yet another thing I liked about Gerry’s proposal is that he would patch the holes at the end of the job and before he left. Most electricians want nothing to do with patching holes, but Gerry said he would do it. This is something that other electricians did not offer. The painters that came in behind him commented on how high quality his patching was, and how it saved them a lot of time – and saved me money I would have had to pay a painter.
Each day, Gerry and his crew took great care in their preparation and cleaning up after themselves. He was there every weekday and completed all he could in the first two weeks. Then, he came back intermittently until everything was done. It was an enormous amount of work, and although I had doubts about everything turning out as I envisioned, Gerry assured me that everything would be done, work and look great in the end. He was absolutely correct! Now that everything is done and my house is back together, everything looks fantastic, works perfectly, and I am so happy and pleased with the work and outcome.

Gerry and his crew are knowledgeable, friendly, dependable and clean. They take great pride in doing high quality work and ensuring everything is done to code and the right way the first time. It’s fair to say Gerry is meticulous, which is just what I wanted and needed. Not to mention that you don’t want to take shortcuts with electrical work. The risk and possible consequences are obvious and should not be taken lightly. I could tell from day one that Gerry knew what he was doing and would do it right, safely and to code.

Gerry, the owner of Thistle Electric, is an outstanding electrician, a good businessman, highly ethical and a very nice guy. He was always available to answer my questions, and we had numerous conversations during the course of the job, in person and by phone (if I as at work), to ensure we were on the same page and that I understood everything that was occurring with the project. I would highly recommend Gerry and Thistle Electric, and I intend to use them in the future for all of my electrical needs.

Gerry and his team are amazing, professional, fast and most importantly… efficient. I had Gerry install recessed lighting in my living room and kitchen and he gave me a great recommendation to invest in LEDs. This was a great recommendation!!! The lighting is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. I love how detailed Gerry was and how meticulous he was with measuring out each light so it was balanced and even. I already have set up my next appointment with Gerry. He’s amazing and reasonable!!!

Gerry was very professional and was gracious enough to fit us into his schedule when he had an opening last minute. He and his crew were knowledgeable and informed me every step of the way as they worked efficiently. They took the care to vacuum and sweep up afterwards.
Would definitely recommend him to anyone and will hire him again for additional work on my condo.

Super nice guy — very knowledgable and straight to the point.
I didn’t get to use him for our job (we haven’t hired it out yet) but hope we get to use his company. Unfortunately the price was higher than we expected so haven’t been able to do the job yet. We’ll see what the future brings though!

Gerry and his team at Thistle were amazing! They did great work installing my large light fixtures and they made sure it was done properly so I would not have any problems in the future. I really appreciate the care they took while installing my fixtures. He was very reasonably priced and would recommend him to everyone! I am a frequent Unilocal user, but I’ve never actually written a review, which I understand I totally should given that I rely on the number of user reviews myself.
I had Thistle come out and assist with an issue I was having with one of my outlets in the kitchen. Gerry arrived with a staff of two, who assessed the situation and shared their findings with Gerry. He then explained to me what was happening, how he intended to solve the issue, and got my ok before moving forward. They then executed making some repairs/​changes and Gerry supervised and offered commentary/​assistance as needed. They then tested everything and I felt very good about the whole process. I’ve already asked they come back in the future to assist with an additional need I have.
They are a busy crew, so it might not happen right away, but they are up front about that and work out when they can schedule you in.

Very good work, a pleasure to deal with, and beat the competitor price by over 40%! Would use them again in the future.

Found Thistle through Unilocal and couldn’t have been more happier with the results.
Let’s break it down.
Responsiveness: I called them before they were open and got a call back within a few hours.
Timeline: They were very frank about their bandwidth and couldn’t get me an exact date until they were sure they were available and during that time kept me up to date as we firmed up the service date.
Results: I had a 120V outlet installed which required. They did an assessment of the house to make sure the install was done right. Checked the attic, crawled under the house, etc. Left no mess, explained, what they did, and did not require any patch work.
Clean, efficient, thorough.

Gerry and Francisco are the absolute best gems! They were both highly efficient in upgrading our old panel from 60 amp to 200 amp. DWP requested the upgrade to run up to the roof line and without hesitation Gerry handled the request without a problem. They did such a fabulous job! Now we’re able to run our powersaw without it blowing a fuse anymore.
They also ran a wire to our backyard for our jacuzzi hook-​up. The jacuzzi delivery team were extremely impressed by the quality and pristine work on the hook-​up and installation of the spa pack.
Everything is also properly permitted, thanks to Gerry’s highly ethical work values.
Gerry is top notch and we were very impressed by his professionalism and work. We highly recommend him!

Gerry and his team are masters in their craft. Not only did they correct the previously shoddy work, but they went above and beyond to ensure the work done was of the highest quality and no mess was left behind.
Even though they are extremely busy and have other work booked, the communication never falters and Gerry does not keep you hanging. He will call or text to let you know if there are any delays, but he got the job done on schedule, at budget and the end result was perfection.
I cannot recommend Thistle enough. I know we will be going to them for any future needs.
