Tiny Scholars Daycare – Chinese Mandarin Immersion School

I came across Tiny Scholars when searching for a new Mandarin immersion preschool for our son. After a very negative experience at another immersion school, we made sure to do our due diligence so we wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. In my initial phone conversation with the owner Teresa, she explained her philosophy which was very much in line with ours so I arranged a tour of the school. We were immediately impressed with Ms. Teresa, her school and the environment she created. As a former teacher, she has the experience and background in childhood development we were looking for. This is an in-​home daycare in which the entire first floor has been transformed into a lovely space for the children. Our son usually takes awhile to warm up to new people and environments but we were surprised at how quickly he felt comfortable during our visit. It is evident that a lot of thought was put into setting up the space, from the reading corner to the art wall to the outdoor play area. The space fosters creativity and self-​exploration. Even minor details, such as multiple sets of each toy to prevent fighting, were considered.
Since our son has started, we’ve been extremely happy with his progress. At first we were a little hesitant that he wouldn’t learn as much Mandarin with a dual immersion program but he has proven us wrong. We often find him singing songs in Mandarin and he’s even able to carrying on a conversation with his grandparents! We couldn’t be happier with Ms. Kelly, who teaches the Mandarin portion, and the work she has done with the kids. Together the teachers have created a weekly curriculum/​theme that is fun and age appropriate and keeps our son engaged while learning.

We couldn’t be happier with the entire staff at Tiny Scholars and we’re so glad we made the choice to enroll here. Our son loves going to school, adores the teachers and looks forward to seeing them everyday. We love knowing he’s in a safe, caring and nurturing environment.

I can’t say enough great things about Tiny Scholars and the owner/​teacher Teresa and her staff of excellent teachers! After much research for a daycare and language immersion school, this school was our first choice. After multiple phone call conversations and checking out the school, it was such a big relief to know that my daughter would be in a loving environment where she can be comfortable and express herself. Everything from the books, layout, daily schedule, personalized drawers, toys, and activities really was on point! I appreciate that it was designed for the children. If I were a toddler, I definitely would want to come to this school! smile emoticon On top of that– they don’t charge more to potty train and it’s not a penny pinching business like the other schools I’ve spoke with. There are so many great things to say, but these are just a few of the many! I’m thankful we found a place where our daughter can excel in language and communication, learn mannerism and politeness, be creative, have fun, and create friendships at such a young age. Finding the right fit for our high-​energy son’s preschool education took a lot of research. I knew we wanted a language immersion program because exposure to multiple languages was a top priority. We found Miss Teresa and Tiny Scholars and could not be more pleased with our decision to go with the home daycare environment. Tiny Scholars has a solid curriculum placed in a relaxed home atmosphere so our son can transition easily from staying at home into a structured school environment later on. We are excited that in conjunction to Japanese and English at home, our little one is being exposed to Mandarin, Chinese. The dual immersion program has proved to be a great way to stimulate his verbal skills because at least half of the day is conducted in English so he is still able to communicate with confidence and ease. I appreciate how bright and clean, organized and stimulating the facility is. When our son hands me a completed art project or tells me how much fun he had at «school» with a big proud smile on his face, I know he’s enjoying his time away from home, maturing and growing and that is invaluable towards his attitude towards learning for years to come.

While visiting a friend in the South Bay, I went with her to tour a Chinese immersion family daycare in Redondo Beach. This place is a gem! Too bad we live so far away.
You can tell the owner put in a lot of thought to set up the space for the children. The playroom is arranged to promote self exploration and they converted a bedroom into a classroom.
The place is clean, has a ton of toys for the kids to play with and a library with both Chinese & English books.
I love how they offer a low student teacher ratio and they teach Chinese and English.
The owner seems to be really passionate about working with children and I could see how much my daughter would learn here.
