Redstone Stables

I would estimate that I’ve been on several rides with Redstone Stables, probably at least six over the past 10 years. Most of the rides were summer time trail rides, one was a private ride for our family members the day before our wedding, and the other was a carriage ride for our wedding pictures and then the ride to the ceremony. The horses are great and while Randy is pretty quiet and unassuming, he works hard and loves his lifestyle. Redstone is one of my most favorite places in the world and most times I’m up there, I try to squeeze in a horseback ride. Definitely recommend.

Most of the party of 8 had a great time sitting in one of 2 sleighs. Well one was a sleigh and the other a cart with 2 bench seats. It was blizzard conditions and 16 out with wind blowing and it was interesting trying to keep the snow covered blankets over our vital parts.
$ 30 a person for a 30 minute ride

Though I have a lot to say i’ll try and keep it short. Redstone Stables was amazing. First of all the Staff/​Guides, from the first phone conversation to the end of the ride was amazing. Courteous, flexible, professional knowledgeable and just down right good people. The property is GORGEOUS and huge. If you want to ride in the mountains, holy cow. We rode through streams, along side a river and could see the mountains. We had a scheduling conflict and ended up doing a sunset ride. It was awesome. Randy was such a gentleman, as was the 2 guides we had. There was a female guide that was very sweet and just fun. My husband got to talk to the head guide up front. Can’t remember his name but he took his time with us and they were all cheerful. Can you imagine after a long day of riding and people still being professional? These folks were awesome. We will be back! I also learned they do carriage rides, and sleigh rides which we will be doing in the near future. Can’t say enough about these people.
The horses were so well mannered! The 3 of us loved our horses and were pleasantly surprised at how sweet they were. There was a farm dog there that accompanied us on the ride. So cool!
One more note… I checked around for prices and oh man are they reasonable. I check with one place at Maroon bells in Aspen and they not only were ridiculously expensive, they were always rushed and very short. So glad we went with RSS. Don’t be judgmental, if you want a better price and amazing views. go with Redstone Stables! Thanks guys!

These cowboys have got it going on.
A friend and I happened upon this place during our road trip. We’d never been horseback riding and had discussed how cool it would have been. As fate would have it we pulled over to check out the amazing old coke ovens and take some pictures. I parked the car out of the way and noticed a sign that advertised horseback rides. Destiny!
We walked up the path and we first greeted by Trooper and Sergeant the sweet little ranch dogs. Then Blondie a huge working horse but a gentle giant, came up to say hey. She got a little upset and nipped at the other horses and mules if they came up to get some attention, Lol. Next we were greeted by cowboy Randy.
A ride will cost you 50 dollars for an hour they take cash or credit. What you get, for your money:
We were able to brush the horses and go up the mountain around the surrounding property. The dogs came with us on the ride and were very well behaved. Their presence also helped me to feel more relaxed and safer since there are bears and other large predators in those beautiful mountains. My paint horse Cody was a perfect gentlemen he obeyed and respected my lead even though it was my first time. He climbed up and down hill, jumped a stream and the views up there were just breath taking. The cowboys are very polite, professional and Randy has a ton of great stories. I felt very safe in his hands.
We were even able to work out a deal since we were short on time to do a half hour each instead of the hour.
I look forward to going back and doing the full hour riding horses in the mountains with cowboys next trip to Colorado.
