Dr. B is just awesome, always calm, always patient, taking the time to examine you carefully, and to explain the results, procedures and prognosis. He’s seen me for a kidney stone, which included a few weeks wearing a stent; for prostate enlargement and biopsy (him and the nurse made me feel less bad, considering, let’s say, my position :-) and for stuff like a swollen testicle. I trust him 1000%

I saw Dr. Bruno in the emergency room for a gigantic kidney stone. He was so nice and patient and answered all my questions. I had my first follow up today and he was just as wonderful.

Dr. Bruno has been my father’s urologist for over 3 years now and he is amazing! He has a great bedside-​manner, gentle, thorough and takes his time. My dad is a very reserved and shy man but feels very comfortable with Dr. Bruno. He is also very easy to get a hold of, if we ever have any questions or concerns. The only negative is that I’ve encountered a very aloof receptionist over the phone twice. Not Dr. Bruno’s fault. Maybe she just had a bad day, I know the office can be very busy and hectic.
I strongly recommend him if you are looking for a kind, caring and very knowledgeable Urologist.

This is a great doctor who knows how to listen to a patient and seems very caring. I felt very comfortable talking with him about my medical issues and trusted him with his therapy suggestions. When I didn’t get positive outcome from one course of medication, I called his office, he responded right back with a call and changed the therapy. No waiting, no hassle, new prescription went right in to the pharmacy.
The cystoscopy itself also went very well, even though I was really nervous. I have to give credit to his staff as well, the nurse reassured me and answered all of my questions about the procedure and involved risks. Dr Bruno also was kind enough to refer me to another specialist when I asked.
This is a doctor that I believe is competent and truly professional in his field, yet human enough to acknowledge when a med problem surpasses his area of expertise, and has a certain calming energy from which any patient can only benefit. If you are looking for a good/​great! urologist, I would highly recommend him!

I also found his bedside manner to be excellent, after my surgery he spent the necessary time explaining the results of my procedure to my wife, which made her very comfortable he visited with me in the hospital and was in no hurry to leave .

I agree with all the 5-​star reviews of Dr. Bruno. He is incredibly compassionate, patient, and engaged. His bedside manner is practically the best I have experienced living in the Bay Area. He answers all your questions, makes you feel at ease, and takes his time. His staff are always friendly as well and I’ve experienced very little wait time in their offices. He is superb and I’d recommend him to anyone needing a urologist!

Dr. Bruno is an amazing surgeon and urologist. He operated on me, after I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. He was always there for me, for any question and concerns. Dr. Bruno’s office staff is as amazing as he is, always helpful, and very prompt in responses through phone or email.
I do hope that you will never need his services, but if you look for a surgeon at heart and soul, Dr. Bruno is your best choice!

Dr. Bruno is a very kind, knowledgeable, helpful doctor. I am not sure what the other reviewer is so upset about. If something /​someone is THAT GOOD … you sure will have a LINE … Dr. Bruno was very kind and never arrogant, he went out of his way to treat my husband at the end of his very long work day. Then the next morning he came to see my husband as early as 6:30 a.m. before he started his normal work day just to see how he was doing!:

Several months ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Two weeks ago I underwent robot-​assisted prostate removal surgery, and my surgeon was Dr. Dieter Bruno. The entire process was textbook perfection, from beginning to end. Dr. Bruno did all the diagnostic things necessary to confirm the diagnosis, at the same time explaining to me and my wife in detail what he was doing, the nature of the disease, what test results meant, and what our treatment options were. We chose surgery as our course of action, and we knew that the good doctor was the professional to perform that surgery. Dr. Bruno radiates confidence and knowledge, with a warm, sincere smile, a firm handshake, and a good sense of humor (no small thing, when dealing with serious matters like cancer). Everything happened just as he said it would, and the personnel at the the hospital (Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, CA) were warm, friendly, and competent. My stay there was as pleasant as it could be under the circumstances. Recovery at home was almost effortless — little to no pain and I am already fully reengaged in life and work. It’s almost like it never happened. I can’t say enough about Dr. Bruno, and I’m sure that this process went the way it did, with the outcome we’d hoped for, largely because of his steady hand on the wheel. Thank you, Dr. B.

We were fortunate to be living in the area when my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer by Dr. Bruno’s partner, Chris Threatt. Dr. Bruno was busy with other patients when we went for our consultation, and we had to wait an extra hour, but it was worth it. The reason he runs late is that he takes time with his patients. He explained all the alternatives clearly, and by the end of our consultation, my husband and I knew exactly what course of action to take. We both had complete confidence in Dr. Bruno as a surgeon, and he didn’t disappoint. The surgery went well and my husband had a great outcome – he ran a marathon two months later!
We did not find Dr. Bruno arrogant at all. On the contrary, I thought he was gentle, kind, and respectful. My husband had just lost his job and Dr. Bruno gave us a break on the charges beyond what our insurance paid. I recommend him highly and would gladly send my friends to him.

You will not find a more professional, competent, or committed doctor anywhere. I was sorry to read the one negative review since my experience is over the top with Dr. Bruno. I have been his patient for over a year and he has been insightful and candid about what options I had medically. I had surgery and needed to have post op ER trip (not his fault). Instead of just letting the ER doctor perform a routine procedure after 9PM at night Dr Bruno was sitting at the front desk when I arrived. He reminds me of the way medicine was 30+ years ago with the true family physician. I feel so lucky to have found him after having a nightmare experience at Stanford with the so called «one of the best urologists in the country». Dr. Bruno is a gem in the corporate medicine world we now live in. I would recommend him to anyone that has urological problems and wants someone that cares. He does not pad the bill and the wait to see him once you arrive varies by time of day just like all other physicians. Things happen and doctors run behind. You can always call ahead to see if you should show up later. It is also not hard to get an appointment especially if you need immediate attention.

I was referred to Peninsula Urology and Drs Bruno & Threatt by Sequoia Hospital after a stunning evening of kidney stone fun in the emergency room. Dr Bruno was able to see me the next day, and what ensued over the next three weeks was simply the most thoughtful, professional and kind medical care I have received in my 46 years. Kidney stones are nasty things, and Drs Bruno & Threatt and their entire staff could not have been more patient with me in every aspect of care. From recommending the ideal treatment (which for me was laser surgery) to the many many questions I had during the recovery period, to follow-​on health advice, I only sensed their sincere interest and respect for me as a patient. Also, I was astonished at the availability of the doctors and staff. When I called on a Sunday evening with some post-​surgery concerns, the medical operator connected me with Dr Bruno in less than a minute. This is the place you should come for kidney stone services, hands down. I only wish all my health care providers were as competent, caring, and available. I would be glad to answer any questions about my experience at Peninsula Urology.

Complete waste of my time. This guy may be really good but really arrogant. Not to mention that he made some wiseguy crack about one of my personal appendages. Last but not least he wanted to do things to me for no reason but charge my insurance company more money. I waited in this guys lobby for an hour past my scheduled appointment and even more time in the medical room for him to tell me I’m fine. He could have easily told me over the phone. This guys a joke!

I contacted Dr. Bruno for a second opinion regarding prostrate surgery. I brought 2 others to the interview, including a physician. After over an hour listening to his answers, we were all impressed. I chose him as my surgeon within 1 minute after that meeting. The surgery went well, my recovery was quick, and I actually enjoy the follow up visits. He is extremely competent, and quite likable.

I highly recommend Dr. Dieter Bruno at Peninsula Urology in Atherton. He is a very skilled surgeon and has a very calming disposition. I was referred to Dr. Bruno by my OBGYN for an emergency procedure, so I had very little time to research his credentials (which it turns out are top-​notch). It was a complete ‘leap of faith’ for me to place myself in his care, and I could not have been happier with the outcome. He has dramatically improved the quality of my life.
