My husband insisted on having a live band on our wedding even though I believe having a DJ is a lot more flexible, fun, easier, and cheaper. We talked about our budget and he started looking. I thought for sure he would give up the idea after finding out how $$$ the live bands are here. Surprisingly, he found someone within our budget! Linda and her band was the most affordable live band we could find. She was actually willing to lower the price more after several negotiations. We were worried about their talent & skill at first. After going to witness their performance at a restaurant, we figured even though it wasn’t the best we’ve heard, but they were definitely competent enough to do their job. After putting down the down payment, I was a little bit annoyed that Linda wasn’t very responsive after wards. It could take her 2 weeks to return an email. Perhaps it is true that you don’t really need that much interaction with your band till the week before the event, but it was still a bit nerve wracking for me. At the day, like expected, they were competent and experienced enough. We were pretty pleased with the ceremony(Linda had a guitarist play music for the ceremony), but the reception music could be better. There wasn’t any major mistake or deal breaker, but you could catch little slips and errors every once in a while. Overall, my guests were happy but they did comment that the music could have been a bit better at the dance floor. I still prefer the DJ idea if you ask me now. If we had to stick to the live band idea, we’d probably hire Linda and her band again. For the money we paid, they were plenty good enough. However, if you are the type who is willing to spend megabucks and want your event to be as perfect as it can be, you should probably go for somebody else.
