Honda Redwood City

Here’s my update, seniors when taken advantage of are often ashamed to share details. What I learned is my mom went in to the service dept after she thought she had a nail in her tire, after inspecting her tires they determined she needed new tires. Honda redwood city charged her a fortune for the «nail inspection» and decided to also charge her tires and installation!
Shady!!! Whatever happened to taking care of loyal customers!!!
Needless to say she still has problem with the tire gauge light which perpetually is on which Honda has not been able to fix…

This is my first review on Unilocal and a really really bad experience (which is similar to the one posted below by Katharine A.) with this company nudged me to write this review. Me and my wife went to the shop to buy the car and even gave the test drive. Everything looked good up until the point we negotiated a good price after which we were even provided the ‘car retail statement’ (basically an agreement between Buyer-​Seller) denoting the price at which the car will be sold. The same day when our credit union was about to approve our loan, they pointed out that agreement ‘expiry’ date was not filled. When we tried to contact the dealership again regarding the same, we were being told to expect a call back since their ‘manager/​specialists’ was/​were busy. The same went on for two days afterwhich we went to dealership and notified them of their ‘error’ in not filling out the field, due to which San Mateo Credit Union is unable to ahead with approval and requested them to generate a new statement with ‘expiry’ date. The manager then shocked us by saying they will not be able to honor the price at which they agreed to the sell the car on the paper.
The whole thing left a bad taste vis-​a-​vis dealing with them. Keep in mind that, with these guys, nothing is final until the very last moment you get your hands on the car. My take is that they were playing around with us until the moment they got hold of a customer (s) who was willing to pay a bit more than us (we weren’t even notified of a competing offer (s)).
On the other hand, i felt that other car dealers in the area, especially the one in Palo Alto were very professional with pricing and their commitment to honor the written agreement. Best of luck, if you found yourself dealing with these guys in the future.

Neff Castro and Steven the shop foreman were great repairing my 2014 Honda accord. I would highly recommend them for repairs.

Very courteous and helpful staff. I had an issue with an errant nail (stupid construction site near where I live) going through my tire and needing to be removed and the tire repaired. I called the shop as soon as they opened at 7:30am, and the staff member was polite and told me I could come in sans appointment if I was willing to drop it off early and not wait for it to be looked at (they had apparently 60 appointments the day before, so securing one on the day I went in seemed impossible). When I arrived, there were no cars in front of me in the line and I was able to pull my vehicle right up to the front. I got out and checked in with a service advisor, explained the problem, and he advised he’d call before they proceeded with any work. I waited in the lounge for a ride back to work (apparently it has to be within 5 miles – I was a little over that but the driver was fine with it), which took forever. Easily about 40 minutes, which sucked. I think they launch their first trip at 8am, so not sure why they were so late. Maybe the driver starts later or was delayed? Either way, outside of that – the process was smooth. The rep called me on the ride back (I may as well have just waited at the dealer if I knew that), and I gave him the green light to proceed with the service…$ 39 for a tire patch, essentially. Labor charge was pretty high, and perhaps I should have asked about that, but I just wanted it fixed and ate it. By 11am or so, it was all set to be picked up, incredibly. Pays to drop off early I guess. Since I didn’t want to wait for another laborious shuttle back, a co-​worker dropped me off, I paid, and was off. Overall, a real good experience, and will definitely utilize this dealer’s services if I need work done while I’m at work myself (I usually go to Berkeley H, but it’s too far now… new job and all, you see) in the future. They also have a Starbucks coffee maker inside, TV to watch while you wait for the shuttle, and pretty comfy chairs and tons of magazines to make the time pass faster, and making the pain of waiting for a ride back a little more easier to swallow.

It might be the closest one, don’t take the bait. Waited a full 1.5 hours for the «courtesy» shuttle to show up

The salesperson was very friendly and it was good to work with him over the course of two days (one day for my test drive, the second day for the paperwork and finalization). He never pressured me as I was deciding on what car to get, and I feel comfortable that I got the right car for me.
When I was deciding what other options to place onto my new vehicle, I did feel a bit of pressure – but nothing unseemly or wrong. I would have been much more suspicious if no one at the dealership was trying to encourage me to consider other options; I recognize the dealership has to make a profit too. But once I spoke my mind, every person I worked with was understanding and accommodated me.
On balance, a painless and exciting experience for what is likely the biggest purchase I’ve ever made in my life.

If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would. I was planning on buying a car from this dealership. They called me twice that day confirming if I was able to make my appointment. I call back Jorge (their salesman) to confirm it and it was all settled. We come in an hour early and sit down while I waited for him to bring the car.
He comes back and says, «I’m sorry that car you’re looking for was sold last night. I apologize, I was really busy.»
LIKE WHAT?! We drove 20 miles from San Francisco through traffic just for them to say they made a mistake after confirming my appointment two times! Waste of time and gas. if you’re looking for a car, go somewhere else. They aren’t professional at all.
I spoke with their GM a little after and he said he was sorry and would do anything to get my business with another car. Still really disappointed.

The staff in the service area are all around, absolutely fantastic. Friendly, polite, and super helpful. As with any service shop, best to schedule an appointment. The do offer a courtesy shuttle, but I’ve personally never had to wait more than an hour for basic maintenance. :)

I generally don’t give bad reviews on Unilocal.But was so offended that I wrote his as we left this lot. Unfortunately Unilocal doesn’t give you the option for 0 stars as that is what this business deserves! My husband and I (7 months pregnant) went to go see a car. We stood around for 30 mins before anyone was even ready to talk to us. We knew more about the car we were interested in then this clown (I don’t think he was a salesman). There 4 least concerned salesman just chatting in one corner… The only other person who talked to us was a service guys who told us to move our car 2 times. I’m not sure how they stay in business or what type of deals they have. But service is simply offensive. Don’t waste your time no inventory/​crappy service.

Carolina is amazing! She is so sweet, competent and personable. She went with MY flow and I wanted to get in and out of there and didn’t pressure me into ANYTHING I didn’t want. There were a LOT of options and when I said NO she said ok, no problem, just know this is an option. I never felt hassled or «sold» she is VERy sweet. I LOVE MY NEW HONDA HRV!!! xoxoxo

This review is for the Sales Department.
I recently bought a 2015 Honda Civic LX. Got a good deal on price. However, I have been having serious issues with them on my specific case.
I was only given 1 car key at that time since they did not have 2. They mentioned that I would be contacted soon to come in and program my second car key.
Guess what 5 months, 20 calls and 1 visit later I still don’t have the second car key. Its a classic case of sales treating customers as idiots once the deal is done.
Every time I call and speak to various people, they have a template response.
Sorry to hear that, what’s your first name, whats your last name, whats your phone number. I will follow up and you will get a call soon.
I feel like I am being treated like an idiot since I gave them my business. Not sure what to say more than this.

If there was an option minus 10 stars i would do it…
Here is my story, and it will not stop here at Unilocal,i will make sure it goes beyond and beyond… i went to this dialership and a sales guy or who ever he was approched me, i was looking for a Honda Ex, he told me to wait 5 minutes, he had to bring the car from across the street, for me to test drive, so i did. After a test drive i told him that i had an offer from another honda for XXX amount, and i told him if they can match it, or if they can do better than other dealership. He told me to wait again, so here i am waiting 15 min, he comes back with 3000 or so more than the other dealershipp offered, and trying to pull a bull sh. t that this is the best they can do because it is the slowest month, Come on i am a Finance manager, i know how it works, but that is not the problem. I have been recieving text messages from my husband, on a deals that he has recieved from other Honda Dealers and it was 3 – 40 004 less, so i decided to show him an invices from other dealerships, since he thought i was lying and wanted to get a cheaper price, so here i am giving him (didnt get the guys name) but from what i remember its the guy who is sitting right at the front by the door and has tatoos on his hands. Anyways, he takes my phone, and takes it to the manager or whoever he is in the room to show the invoice, he is gone for a minute or so, i couldnt wait anymore so i walk into the room, and what do i see, THEY ARE SCROLING through MY PHONE AND READING MY MESSAGES THAT I HAVE BEEN WRITING TO SEE IF I WAS LYING WITH THE PRICESS ON THE CAR!!! What the F… CK, who the hell does that??? So the poit is… i will make SURE that this will go beyond Unilocal,This message will go to the owner of the place and beyond!!!

David Nice is the best! Things got off to a rocky start when I got an airbag recall letter from Honda Canada (I have an Accord which was imported from Canada) but went through two employees at this dealership who said they could not honor the recall because of what Honda corporate told them (Honda corporate told me the recall was indeed in effect, as did the letter and recall website.) I kept getting bounced around between Honda US, Honda Canada, and this dealership, and no one entity wanted to take responsibility for the recall. Once I got connected with David Nice here, he got everything squared away in just a few hours. Really appreciate his work to get a complicated international airbag recall sorted for me so quickly.

This is a very delayed review, just found it in my drafts.
I bought my 2013 Civic LX from Honda Redwood City new in Dec 2014 — it was a great experience, hands down. Extremely helpful staff and the General Manager (Raul) was also very nice. Even though there was some issues with the paperwork, they were quick to apologize and to fix it. I can’t give enough praise for how easy they made it to walk out with a new car.
My problem comes from an interaction a mere two weeks after buying the car, I had a question. Unfortunately for me my sales rep (Roman) had the day off. Instead they routed me to the sales manager (Benjamin) on the floor at the time (around 2PM). After I started to ask my question, Benjamin rudely interrupted me and started to yell over me.
Honestly, it just left a very sour taste in my mouth, and frankly it shows how much they care about their customers. Eventually after talking to the GM, I got a very forced apology from Benjamin who clearly didn’t believe he was in the wrong.

I originally visited the dealership to evaluate their used car inventory. However, after much analysis, I decided to buy new. Honda RWC had many listed CRVs on the web, but no color choices, so I didn’t have a good idea of what they had in stock before I went to the dealership. I arrived, saw the salesman and he initially tried to convince me that I still wanted to buy used. I looked at the new options on the lot and didn’t see the exact car I wanted. I took a test drive of a CRV that I liked– but it didn’t have leather seats, which was my #1 requirement for the car. I told him I needed leather seats but wanted to drive it because I hadn’t previously driven a 2015.
I asked the salesman to look at options within their inventory system for my specific color of choice/​feature preferences and also told him that I was a USAA customer that had already received a price quote from their dealership through the USAA «true price» system for that specific combination.
We sat down to talk about price and car. (My dad was with me). The «first» price given to me was decent and almost in line with my guaranteed price from USAA– but when I started asking questions about what was written on the sheet of paper in front of him the discussion quickly devolved. He quickly shifted the conversation to «payments» even though I kept stating that my financing would be through USAA (not his dealership) and that I only wanted to discuss bottom line price. Then he told me he had mistakenly priced the car that I had taken for a test drive and the price was actually thousands more than his previous quote.
Although I did not want to purchase that specific car (it didn’t meet my requirements of leather seats among other things), this switching between cars and quotes really raised a red flag. Any calculations/​documentation he reviewed with me did not include the actual car specs. and were merely numbers with an emphasis on monthly payments (again, beyond inappropriate as my financing was NOT to be through the dealership). The salesman also told me a completed «credit application» was required for car registration and wanted it filled out BEFORE we negotiated the price for the car. This included my social security number– which didn’t sit well with me. I held onto the paperwork and was glad I did.
He then presented me with another piece of paper and continued to talk in payments rather than price– ugh. The price was high, several thousand dollars over the price I had been given FROM THEIR DEALERSHIP via USAA true pricing. I purposely had not given them the quote I had received via USAA up until this point, as I had actually already received better quotes from other local dealerships and was hopeful that they could match that price. Again, I gave this dealership the first shot at a sale, as I had liked the salesman. My name should have been in their system and they should have known the exact quote I had previously received. After another long wait (the third), the manager came over and introduced himself to my Dad, not me. My Dad then told the manager in no uncertain terms that he should address me, and not him, as I was actually the one buying the car.
The manager told me that he was sorry that this happened and they «didn’t know» that I had received a quote from them already. He then told me that the price I received was «internet only» and that I was actually confused. He then told me Honda «only produced a few in the US» of the specific car I wanted — which simply isn’t true as I had spoken to other dealers who have 3 or 4 available in the next couple weeks. I don’t mind waiting for the car I want, but I DO mind not getting the BEST price for the ACTUAL car that I want. He then told me that the paper didn’t list specifics on the car because all cars come standard with trims from Honda and there are never any additions, but he was willing to print out a general listing of features and options for me. When buying a car, I want to talk about a car with the paper emphasizing what I want – not a bunch of information that I don’t care about. Had I accepted the original «offer» I might have purchased the wrong car, with the wrong trim, without the specifics I desired… all from the way that they try to present «paperwork.» The greatly inflated price was just icing on the cake.
The next day, at least 5 phone calls came from the dealership. No one apologized, a couple even got mad at me and told me to buy the car somewhere else – which I did – at almost $ 5,000 below the exorbitant price quoted to me the second time by Honda RWC.

My first visit at Honda RWC 5÷18÷15. A Warm and Inviting Welcome & Excellent Customer Service apon arrival from Diego G. Check in Service was very quick and Diego was very detailed when explaining my Services being performed. Cold bottled Water & Hot coffee & Tea available while my short wait. I highly recommend making an appointment to get IN & OUT!
Thanks Heather (cashier) who checked me out, for your early morning Polite & Professional Service. I definitely will be returning for All my Honda service needs! Highly Recommended, and worth the drive to this Location…

Okay, I’m not Yoda but I have to say this, my experience here with Mike Pulphas left a bad impression on both of us.
Came here because my friend was shopping for a used car. She was going to pay ALL CASH, and she we got here, Mike was the first person we saw.
First off, no greeting. We greeted him.
Secondly, he laughed when she mentioned getting a used car and said, «you can’t afford a new car or what?»
So, I stepped in and said we were looking at low mileage Civics, either a coupe or a sedan.
He showed us one car, and when my friend didn’t like that one he said, «you don’t know what you want, get a new car or don’t waste my time.»
Then he kept saying, «show me the money,» like he was Jerry McGuire or something.
I told him she had a check, it’s not like she’s carrying around a briefcase full of cash!
Then he asked if I was going to drive the car or if she was going to drive the car.
Um, it’s going to be her car. But, he basically ignored her.
Needless to say my friend DID know what she wanted and if this guy would have taken the time and wasn’t so rude, maybe she would have bought a car there.
She had a budget of $ 19,000 including tax and license fees that she was willing to shell out for a used car, but she definitely won’t be coming back here.
Neither will I if I want to buy a Honda. This guy was out of line.

We went to this dealership to buy a car for my mom and it was the best experience ever! The people at this dealer are amazing. Super friendly and not aggressive at all. They all seem like family.
Steven was the one that helped us with getting the car, he was the best! He was knowledgable, professional, friendly, funny and patient! We all adored him and definitely plan to go back for regular oil changes and services right next door.
We spoke with the other salespeople there as well and they were very entertaining, funny, social, and polite. We loved it! Steven is awesome!!!

Been here twice for an oil change and never had a problem. I phoned in for an appointment, got it done quickly, got a phone call reminder, then took my car in. Took minutes to get my car, then I was off to work. Got a call in 2 hours, car was done, picked it up later, and was out the door.
The service desk team were knowledgeable in answering my questions, extremely nice in giving me a mail-​in oil change discount, and assisted me quick. Oil changes are easy, so, no problem with the new rich synthetic oil and oil filter pumping life to the motor!!! They also give the hook ups of checking the tire pressure (yes I checked), top the fluids, check the battery, and tire wear.
My 5-​speed stick 2013 Honda Civic drives like a champ now, and I do not have to worry about another oil change until probably next year since I drive so little!!! This Honda team is superb, extremely fast, courteous, and very helpful in giving useful tips. Thanks for your service!
Overall: Excellent service and excellent customer service!!!

Came here today to buy fluid at the Parts department, WOW big mistake! It seriously took forever (like 25 minutes) for the clerk to get to acknowledge us and complete our transaction (which took one minute), even though we were right in front of him. Now to be fair and give context, I know he was trying to assist another customer who was there first, which I totally get, but you still need to address new customers and let them know you’ll be with them; but not this ! The service in the parts departments gets 1 star since the price was the best around.
Note: I’ll never come back to this location for any parts!
