Humanimal Connection is a 501c3 not-​for-​profit, no-​kill, cat rescue run entirely by volunteers. Humanimal Connection has been working since 1998 to facilitate healthy, helpful relationships between humans, animals, and the environment.

All of our cats come microchipped, altered, de-​wormed, vaccinated to date, FIV & FELV tested & come with a free veterinary health exam for you to use upon adoption

History

Established in 1998.

Since 1998 Humanimal Connection rescues homeless, unwanted, abandoned and sometimes abused and neglected, kittens and cats. Humanimal Connection also rescues kittens and cats from other shelthers (for instance, other shelters who euthanize).

Humanimal Connection provides these kittens and cats with medical care, human affection, and then works non-​stop to find them the forever homes they deserve. For more about kittens and cats available for adoption, click here.

Humanimal Connection also provides assistance and guidence to those with a feral cat situation (through humane trapping, socialization, and/​or colony management). For more information on feral cat colony assistance, click here.

We adopted little Piper two weeks ago, and we could not be happier with her and the folks at Humanimal Connection. Even though she mostly grew up in a cage, Susan and the volunteers at HC (Anthony, Joni and Jon) had socialized her so well that she had no trouble adapting to a home (she is especially fascinated by nature shows on television).
The adoption process was easy and quick– we wanted to be sure it was the right match, so we visited a few times, but the HC team was very accommodating. They clearly care a lot about the animals and want to make sure the adoption will be a success for the people and the animals. We followed their advice for introducing Piper to our other two cats, and everything has gone smoothly.

just checking in after adopting a 2nd kitty from Humanimal. Lance is a healthy and playful little guy who is getting along well with Bok Choy, adopted back in January. Even though he was probably away from his mom very early in life, he is quite cuddly and sweet, owing to the excellent foster care from Humanimal volunteers. We are quite happy with our kittens and are very thankful these volunteers take the time to rescue these kitties and care for them so lovingly until they find homes. We are trying not to make our other cats jealous but we are just so crazy about Lance

If I could I would give Humanimal Connection 10 stars! I adopted a kitten few weeks ago and was so happy Susan Brown took the time and cared enough to make sure my new kitten was going to the right home. Adopting a pet is a big responsibility and Susan Brown has the best interest of her animals! The staff is wonderful, caring and dedicated to placing animals in loving homes. I highly recommend this organization!

Rude Rude Rude!!! DO not Use This As a Connection For Adoption. We are a loving family of 4 and tried to adopt a cat and got nothing but criticism from Susan Brown! Susan, You claim their are so many cats needing a home. Why turn a perfect family who would love to care for a new member in their family with your attitude and and criticism. You have a lot of 5 stars! Maybe your just having a bad day. Not good for an Adoption business!

We just adopted the 2 cutest kittens from them about 2 weeks ago.
The volunteers are friendly & knowledgeable, they seem to take great care of the cats and they really care.
If you’re looking to adopt a cat (young or adult) i recommend you go through them for sure!

This group gives such great care to the cats that they come across. Each cat gets one on one time and socialization so that they can be the perfect kitty for you. They are NO KILL and NO PROFIT and don’t just hand off cats that have issues or are shy and thus harder to adopt. They work with you even after you adopt. Their dedication touched me so much that I spend much of my time volunteering for them!

We adopted two sister kitties via Humanimal Connection at San Mateo Feed and Supply. This is a wonderful, awesome organization that makes the process of adopting very easy. We LOVE our new family members, Leyla and Zoe. These two precious kitties were rescued from a Los Banos animal shelter by Humanimal Connection and were scheduled to be euthanized. When those two precious faces stare up at me, I get chills thinking about close their little lives were to being ended. Truly, we are blessed to have our new kitties and it only took them 2 hours to completely adjust to life at our house.

I am very very happy with the cats we adopted through Humanimal Connection. It’s clear that they were well loved and cared for by their foster parents. The paperwork and followup was excellent and extremely well-​organized. Clearly this organization knows what they’re doing and really cares about the animals in their care. I will turn to them again when I need another kitten.

Our good friend found an abandoned kitten (just a day or two old) in Menlo Park that needed to be bottle fed. He couldn’t keep it, so we agreed to figure out what we were doing. We happened to be driving by one of Humanimal’s Kitten Adoption Fairs in RWC and went in to ask for advice. On the spot, the volunteers who were experienced at fostering helped us to understand exactly what needed to happen, arranged to get vet care that afternoon on a Saturday. One of the volunteers even ended up fostering the abandoned kitten herself, sent us pictures to know she was alive and well and gave this cat a second chance, who was later adopted by a wonderful family. Six months later when we were ready to add two feline friends to our family, Humanimal helped us make a great connection. The animals were clearly loved and well cared for… and the volunteers are an amazingly dedicated group. Highly recommend based on our experience.

My daughter and I were passing a kitten adoption fair at a pet store in Redwood City and went in to have a quick look. Two hours later we came away with an adorable kitty who is now called Bentley. It was obvious that all the kitties get the best of care and Bentley was extremely well adjusted. We have two dogs and an older cat and he fit right in. He’s very playful and loves to hang out with the family. He knows how to use his litter box and is no trouble at all.
We had a very enjoyable experience with Humanimal Connection. The volunteers were very friendly and flexible and obviously work very hard to ensure the well-​being of the kitties in their care.

One of the very best organizations out there helping rescue kitties. I adopted two sisters, Zelda and Audrey, from Humanimal. They are the most wonderful cats HC did everything possible to help me with the girls and acclimating them to their new home. Susan even gave me bowls for their food. If you have room in your heart for a feline companion, look no further than Humanimal Connection! you and your new kitty will be glad you did!

Excellent organization. I drove from Marin to Redwood City to adopt my beautiful cat, Becker (now known as Adonis.) He had been rescued off the street and cared for by Humananimal Connection. I couldn’t have been happier with the way they handled the adoption. They even paid to have a lump on his head checked out by a vet (it turned out to be a simple bone spur.)

I adopted two amazing kittens about a month ago via Humanimals. I have adopted through the Humane Society before, but I like Humanimals better, because I was able to find out the history of my kittens. My kittens were placed with a foster family until they were able to be adopted and so they were well socialized. Also, they came microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, spayed, etc.. . Plus they got a free vet visit included with the adoption. If you are looking for a cat or kitten, this is a great place to consider, but no matter what — ADOPT!!! There are too many unwanted animals in this world and buying from a pet store or personal breeder just promotes the breeding of animals, which is not needed considering that there are already enough out there as it is without intentional breeding.
My kittens are totally cool. Lila plays fetch and actually drops the toy that she is fetching right into my hand! Lily is a total lap cat and can’t give me and my kids and husband enough love. I am so happy that I took the two sisters together. One is great, but two are double the fun :-) LOVE them!!! ADOPT!!!

I’m a sometimes-​volunteer for Humanimal. I came across their kitty display at Petco/​Redwood City and decided to offer some help.
I’m blown away by the effort and dedication of the full-​timers, and the flock of regular volunteers. Those kitty cages are better kept than my own kitchen! — scrubbed clean twice daily, food freshened, cats and kittens loved up and looked over.
What continually amazes me is the group’s resolve to put the cats’ welfare first. Given the sheer number of feral and abandoned critters, I’m sure it’s tempting to cut corners, maybe adopt out to less-​than-​perfect homes — y’know, look the other way a little bit. Doesn’t happen.
Kittens either go in pairs, or go singly to homes where another young cat awaits. The new owner (s) must fully commit to providing a healthy, supportive environment for the new family addition, and get a full education on what that means.
I adopted my three before I crossed paths with Humanimal — and three’s enough! But when I’m ready to adopt again, I’m going through Humanimal. I have complete confidence in — and admiration for! — this excellent group.
Oh, and high-​fives to Petco and San Mateo Feed and Pet for hosting all these kitties!

I adopted my lifelong companions from the Humanimal Connection almost 2 years ago and still recommend them to anyone looking to adopt. The entire adoption process was thorough but quick, and within a day of applying our family had 2 new members. Roscoe, who was taken from a hoarder (and can never seem to get enough love) and Simon, who must have been the tiniest feral kitteh in Fremont (and needed extra handling and sensitivity).
Note: I saw in another review, there was pressure to adopt a pair, and I had a very different experience. At first I was only going to take one, but then fell in love with the cagemate, and decided to take both. I dealt with Susan, who continued to answer my questions by email and phone for some time after the adoption (this was my first cat experience). With her help, my lifelong companions are well adjusted family members.

I just recently got my kitty from Humanimal Connection and had a really positive experience! The staff was very knowledgeable in regards to each and every kitty and answered all my questions, concerns, and comments. They even helped me shop for my new friend. I ended up walking out that very night with kitty in tow. He adjust to his new environment flawlessly, and after a trip to the vet was above average in the health department. I am very pleased with my adoption!
The only thing I would point out is that I had to be aggressive in obtaining initial contact in trying to meet the kitties. Between emails, and phone calls I tried 4 or 5 times before success! After that, I could not have asked for better communication in setting up a meet and greet with all the kitties!
If you are adopting a new pet, I highly recommend Humanimal Connection as your first and last stop. The animals are well cared for and the staff really holds compassion for each and every animal. They make sure the animals go to good homes!

There are some organizations that are so wonderful, it just makes the world seem a little brighter. Their staff (all volunteers!) are all so sweet and truly care about what they do.
and… of course… the kitties are all SO SWEET!
They make the process of adopting a new little friend very easy.
I love their «Cat Connection» room at San Mateo Pet Feed (El Camino, Redwood City) where all the kitties have an entire room to play and run and be happy kitties while they are waiting to be adopted. It is always fun to go in there and play with them and you can really get a sense of their personality.
