I leverage modern technology to make legal services easier to obtain, more comfortable, and less time-​consuming, without sacrificing quality. At the same time, I take an old-​fashioned approach to legal counsel. I want to be your trusted legal advisor, and that means earning your trust.

History

Established in 2012.

As of January 2016 I have joined Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley in Redwood City. Joining the talented team at RMKB allows me to continue offering high quality legal services and advice and excellent client service while enabling me to focus more on my clients and less on the day-​to-​day tasks of running a business.

I will be bringing my business, which started in 2012 as Catherine Law, with me to my new office in Redwood City.

I have always loved language, from grammar and spelling (yes, I’m one of those, I admit it) to the intricacies of language that mean that one word or sentence, or even one misplaced apostrophe, can produce a completely different result from a legal document. And while it may not help anyone that in my head I compulsively correct misspellings and grammatical errors in advertisements and facebook posts, I do get to help my clients by paying attention to every detail in their legal documents and making sure everything says what they intend it to.

I love working with driven, creative, passionate, entrepreneurial people.

I grew up in the north bay, attended Cal Poly, SLO and USF School of Law. When I’m not at work I can usually be found exploring the many beautiful parks around the bay, hiking, photographing wildlife, and enjoying all that this amazing area has to offer.

We hired Marisa for help with estate planning based on a great recommendation by another family in the area. My husband and I had never previously done any formal estate planning, and with our growing family (baby #2 on the way) we thought that it was time to do so. Marisa walked us through the whole process from start to finish, including figuring out which documents to prepare in the first place! We are very pleased with the final products, including wills, durable power of attorneys, and advanced health care directives. Throughout the process Marisa was extremely professional: approachable, easy to work with, friendly, thorough, and very knowledgeable. She was also extremely easy to work with: she answers emails very quickly, uses great online communication systems that made it very easy to schedule phone conversations & provide information, and she was able to come to our house for our 2 in-​person meetings. Overall a great experience, and I will recommend her to anyone who needs help with estate planning!

We hired Marisa to create a will & testament, durable power of attorney, and advanced health care directive. This was the first time we have been through this process and were interested in establishing guardianship and trusts for our children. Marisa was very patient in walking us through all the legal terms, provided information for us to make informed decisions, and helped guide us to create useful documents. She was very thorough when answering all of our questions and provided a questionnaire at the onset to streamline the process. She was excellent value for the service received and the fees paid.
