Specialties

We instruct American Heart Association CPR, BLS and First Aid and Pediatric First Aid classes. Students receive their certification card the day of their class.

We offer the following classes AHA classes:

CPR AED — Training in infant CPR, child CPR, and adults; using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED); responding to choking emergencies.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers CPR — also called «BLS». This is the CPR class for people who work in healthcare.

First Aid — includes training to respond to heart attacks, strokes, seizures, allergic reactions, how to use an epinephrine pen, asthma, drowning, bleeding, burns, infections, bites and stings, sprains and broken bones.

Pediatric First Aid CPR AED — The class for people who work in preschools and daycare. Meets the requirements of the EMSA.

Our classroom is intended to serve: Redwood City, San Mateo, Foster City, San Carlos, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Millbrae, Sunnyvale, Belmont, Burlingame.

History

Established in 2010.

San Mateo CPR Certification Classes is also known as «In Home CPR.» We began by traveling to homes to teach CPR and first aid classes to new and expecting parents. We now travel to teach classes at dental offices, construction companies, daycare facilities, hospitals and many other businesses. If you need a class at your home or business, let us know! We travel all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our classroom in Redwood City opened in 2012. We chose a small classroom that seats a maximum of 14 students. We believe small classes with lots of hands-​on instruction and opportunities to ask questions is the best environment for learning to respond to medical emergencies.

We are very picky about who teaches for us! Our instructors all have backgrounds in healthcare or emergency medical services and lots of teaching experience. And most importantly: they love teaching.

I did a fair share of research before settling on a place to get BLS/​CPR certified and I’m very happy I chose this place. Let me tell you why!
— Competitive pricing. It seemed like other places were a little cheaper but that’s because you have to pay for the manual separately. The manual price is already lumped into the registration fee here.
— Small class size. You won’t be able to shrink into the shadows here, which is definitely a good thing because you’ll want to get your practice in and also get feedback from the instructor.
— Engaging instructor. I had Chris G as my instructor and he was funny, entertaining, and of course very knowledgable. 3 hours of videos and demonstrations seems daunting but he made the time pass quickly with his jokes, anecdotes, and enthusiasm.
— Online scheduling and reminders. It was so easy to hop on the website, look at my class options, and register for the session I wanted. I received a reminder email for my session and after completing the course, I got another email that said they’ll remind me again when my certification is about to expire. How kind :)
— Modern demonstration materials. The adult– and infant-​sized models give immediate feedback via red, yellow, and green lights so you know if your compressions are acceptable.
— Easy to find and free parking.
*get ready for my corny closer…* I went home that day with my certification card in hand but also with confidence in all the skills I learned in my BLS/​CPR class. Highly recommend this place!

The best CPR class I have taken. Well taught, experience driven, and fast paced. I have taken several CPR classes that were very long and boring. Service is great! David made the class fun while being serious as well as educational! I am 13 and I had a great time. First, they ask why you are there to better help you understand certain topics, although they still go through everything. They ask for any questions, frequently! I had no problems at all!

Very easy & convenient way to get certified. We took the Pediatric class because we have a baby at home. We feel so much better having some knowledge about how to help our baby if she ever needs it. Great class!

This is the second time taking the class with Chris! He is an excellent instructor following the guidelines, adding tips that have been used by first responders and tailoring the course to adjust for differently educated students.
I would most definitely refer them and will be returning!

I have to have CPR training every two years for work. San Mateo CPR has a lot of classes at different times for any schedule. Chris was my instructor and did a fantastic job — teaching the class, staying on course, and answering questions succinctly.
We did not get out early, which I always look for in any class. They DID provide coffee and tea, which was wonderful! The classroom was small so it limited the size of the class (we had 7 in ours) which was nice. Parking was good, facilities had only one bathroom, which is not ideal. They did have knee pads for us to use if we chose to do CPR on the floor. That was good!
Overall I would definitely go here again, and I am hoping they start ACLS so I can take that course from them as well.

Small class but it was better that way. Chris was an awesome instructor and he made the class interesting. He would pause the video time to time to explain the part or to give us a real life example. Every questions were answered as well as real life examples were given. Excellent program!
