The front desk gal is always sweet as can be. She is efficient and friendly, and she always makes you feel remembered. The office is very clean, with the usual dentist office fish tank and plethora of magazines. You will not be in the waiting room long enough to catch up on your reading. Doctor Tso is gentle, knowledgeable, & I always feel that she is thorough. I have only ever gotten cleanings, but she does a very good job.

I chipped my front tooth on Labor Day weekend and needed to see a dentist ASAP. I called Dr. Tso’s emergency line to see if she could get me in and she called me back immediately. She was very accommodating and offered to see me the next morning. I didn’t end up seeing her because I had a meeting I couldn’t miss. I thoroughly appreciate her quick response and am grateful that she cared to squeeze me in. She comes highly recommended from friends of mine and when it comes time, I plan to see Dr. Tso in the future.

She is very patient and kind as well as gentle. We drive up from San Jose to Redwood City to see her. She really is the best. Her staff is always helpful and cheerful.

I too drive from San Francisco to see Sylvia Tso. Well worth the drive! I had originally gone to Dr. Tso’s when I lived in Menlo Park, but when I moved to San Francisco, I thought I’d switch to a local dentist to save on the drive. Big mistake! I’m now back to Dr. Tso and don’t mind driving the extra distance.
I saw a dentist at UCSF who told me I needed to have a cavity filled, which was right between the front 2 teeth. I wanted a 2^nd opinion, so I went to Dr. Tso and she explained that in order to fill that tiny cavity, she’d need to drill a hole 3x larger than the cavity itself, to have enough surface area exposed for the filling to grab hold onto. So she opted to forgo the filling and told me to instead to brush very well, floss religiously, and ocasionally rinse with a fluoride rinse to bolster those front teeth. It’s been years and that tiny cavity hasn’t grown at all. She says if I’m careful and watch it closely, it may be many many years before the cavity grows big enough to warrant getting filled. Another basis for comparison: Dr. Tso made a night guard for me many years ago, which lasted forever. I lost it, and when I tried to get one made at UCSF, I kept having to go back because the fit was terrible, and I gnawed holes through the night guard twice, both within a couple of months, requiring them to make new ones, which still didn’t fit right. I decided to just eat the loss and have Dr. Tso make one for me. She got it right the first time — it fits like a glove, and it’s lasted 3+ years so far!
I have glowing reviews for Dr. Tso as a pediatric dentist as well. My 2 young boys were previously being seen by pediatric dentists at UCSF. The previous appointments were rather cursory and brief. Nothing of note. But when we saw Dr. Tso, she took the time to show me areas in both boys’ teeth that I wasn’t brushing well enough. (This took me by surprise, since the previous dentists said nothing of the sort.) She took the extra time to show me exactly how and where food was getting caught, areas I should pay special attention to (which varied from boy to boy), and how exactly to brush my boys’ teeth. What a difference compared to the dental visits we had been getting! Before, visits were quick in and outs, and I left naively thinking everything was hunky dory. Dr. Tso pointed out areas for improvement, so I feel I have a much better idea how to care for my young sons’ teeth.
She is such a perfectionist and very gentle, as previous reviewers have mentioned. With every visit, I learn something new and am constantly amazed by how thorough and responsible she is. I cannot say enough good things about her!

dr. tso is really one of the nicest, smartest, most honest dentists you will ever find. did i mention gentle too? i drive from san francisco to see her. she is so nice that once my tire went flat in their parking lot and she let me use her AAA. dr tso is a class act.
also, her staff is very professional, nice and caring as well.

Who knew getting your teeth cleaned could be so relaxing? Super friendly and does a great job.

Dr. Tso is the BEST! My Mom swore by her, and I finally converted… dragging along everyone else I know! We all drive the ridiculous distance from Los Altos to Redwood City to be seen by her, because honestly, every other dentist I’ve been to, isn’t half as good as the glorious Dr. Tso!
I know I need to floss, and even though my teeth tell a different story– Dr. Tso doesn’t do the annoying «please promise me…» thing. She tells you what you need to do, and what’s going to happen if you don’t. End of story. Exactly the information I need!
My family really has no tolerance for pain, but a load of dental issues… and Dr. Tso knows exactly how to handle each one of us separately!
Not to mention… she is super nice and personable… and best of all. doesn’t expect a response in conversation when your mouth is full of instruments! I hate that!
