As a locally owned and operated business we strive to bring as much value to our community as you have brought to us. We care about our customers and want to evolve with your shifting interest and make your movie renting experience as enriching and rewarding as it should be.

Thank you for the last quarter of a century and we hope to continue feeding your appetite for film in the years ahead.

History

Established in 1985.

For 26 years, The Movie Groove has been Redwood City’s première independent movie store. Driven still by the very same goal we were founded on: to share our love of film. Whether watching a movie at the theater or at home, films are shared experiences that move us, entertain us, enlighten us and challenge us.

Over the years we have faced countless challenges, from aggressive retail chains geared towards the most popular mainstream and recent releases to digital download and mail-movie services where Internet convenience has replaced real interaction.

At The Movie Groove we believe that renting a movie can be more than simply picking up the latest new release or browsing through a limited on-demand library. It is our goal to make RENTING a film an experience in itself. Through film recommendations catered to your tastes, discussing current and past releases, exchanging thoughts and opinions over coffee at The Grind, or exposing you to an entirely new set of films and filmmakers.
