Saw the negative reviews on Unilocal,but saw positive reviews on other websites and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. We initially talked to a gentleman on the phone, who appeared very friendly and professional. Additionally, he gave us a very appealing quote over the phone. Therefore, we booked him to refinish our tub. The day he is supposed to come and work on our tub he no call/no shows. Additionally, he will not return any calls or messages that have been left(we left numerous messages). Fortunately, there was no deposit made. But, major headaches were caused, as we now have to book with another company(which we should have just done in the first place), and this is a time sensitive project. Please do yourself a favor and book with somebody else. Five one-star reviews with no better reviews is not a coincidence.

My dealings with A-1 are so similar to the three previous reviews that I wonder why these people are even in business. I even wonder if they are licensed. They did a job for me on 2÷2÷15. Their repair cracked 2 weeks later. I made numerous calls and left messages that were never returned. I finally contacted the Better Business Bureau who was able to get in touch with them. What followed was numerous lies, name calling and refusing to honor their warranty. Since we could not come to an agreement the bureau closed the case. Not much help there. I tried to stop by there work place once to find it was a mail box, the next address I found were apartment buildings. So, I do not recommend hiring these people unless you want shoddy work. I don’t believe these people have any business principles. Shame on them for taking advantage of their clients. Save your money.

As with many other reviewers of A-1Refinishing, I have a negative review in that they were a no-call, no-show after scheduling their weekend work on our tub a month in advance. How unprofessional! Hopefully their non-existent customer service will cause them to go out of business — soon!

All I got from my interaction with this company is a headache… I felt they were extremely unprofessional and my opinion is that they can not get a simple job done. My opinion is to STAYAWAY, DONOTUSETHISCOMPANY! The following review is my opinion regarding several attempts to schedule an appointment to have work done by the company. I had scheduled and appointment to have my bathtub and surrounding tile refinished with A-1 Refinishing back in June. The company is out of Reno, and my property is a condo in north lake tahoe. The appointment day came and no call — no show. After several calls, voicemails and emails to the company I finally received an email back saying that some of their employees were injured while working on a job out of state, and that was the reason for the delay in response and missing the appointment AND not getting back to me for several days. I understand these things happen and told them best wishes for their workers and to please contact me in the next few weeks to reschedule. I sent several follow up emails and left several voicemails over the following several weeks trying to reschedule. After never hearing back from them, it left me wondering what kind of business is being run by the owners… and this should have been a sign to just be done with this company. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and a co-owner of my property was able to contact the company recently and schedule another appointment. We set an appointment and a key lockbox code, and gave them the contact info for our property manager in north Lake Tahoe. These guys refuse to go to the property unless someone meets them there(despite giving a lockbox code and mailing them a check before the work was done). They were extremely dramatic and it was almost as if they just didn’t want to do the job. In the end, we had to reschedule multiple times because they refused to go to the property unless someone met them there(they had the lockbox code). For example, one time they claimed to have called the property manager several times and left messages when my property manager says he never got a single call or voicemail from them. They cancelled the appointment despite having access and pre-payment in full. It could be a case of «he said, she said» type of situation, but in the end they had been paid via a check mailed to them before the work was done, and then cancelled the job. They had access via lockbox code and the property was vacant for the job. The final appointment was cancelled by the A-1 Refinishing because they insisted at the last minute that someone meet them at the property despite having access and payment before ever going to the property… I felt we were as accommodating as possible and they decide to cancel because they couldn’t get ahold of the tenant the morning of the appointment despite the tenant knowing about the appointment and that he had to be out of the property due to toxic fumes? I felt they were being extremely dramatic for such a simple task to be done… The company then charged us over $ 150 for their time because they couldn’t get ahold of anyone the morning of the appointment??? No one ever signed any sort of contract authorizing this, and the property was vacated for the weekend so why do they need to talk to someone? They had access and payment but they won’t go do the job… Doesn’t make sense to me… I would have liked to have the work done but I feel the whole process was just absurd… AFTERRESCHEDULINGSEVERALTIMESANDMONTHSOFWAIT, THEYCANCELEDTHEJOBANDCHARGEDUS??? My opinion: A WASTEOFTIMEANDMONEY!
