BIGDISAPPOINTMENT! SMALLBUSINESSTOOBIGFORCUSTOMERCARE! Made a wine tasting reservation 6 weeks ago for this past Wednesday for my daughter’s 21st birthday. Called wine manager on Monday to ask which wines he had found to taste. Even though he remembered talking to me 6 weeks ago also confirming that indeed we made a wine tasting reservation, he proceeded to tell me that two days was not enough notice. He informed me that nothing could be done to honor the reservation and besides it was his day off. Tried to contact the GM of Ben’s and was told he was too busy.

I understand that when you close at 9:00pm it might be a little irritating when when someone comes in at 8:40. However, being rude is not going to make me rush in and out. If anything, Im going to take my sweet time picking out over priced beer. I’ll be going to any other store in town next time. Thanks!

Went in to pick up a 6-pack of my favorite beverage. Much to my disappointment, while the computer said they had some in stock, it wasn’t to be found. With a heavy heart, I went out to the parking lot and got in my car. Mere moments later, an employee comes running out in the wind and the snow to tell me that they located the beverage I was looking for! I immediately went back in and made my purchase. To me, this was going above and beyond your normal customer service, and I will continue to be a dedicated Ben’s customer. Thanks again to the guys and gals who work at the south Reno location. You do a great job!

After a terrible experience at total wine where my husband and I were completely ignored, we decided to give Ben’s a try to find some dogfish head 120 minute IPA. This beer can be hard to find and is pretty pricey, but I was impressed when Ben’s carried it. I thought the price was good and the staff was friendly and helpful!

Great store. Very convenient location and the staff is always extremely friendly and talkative. If it has an alcohol content, Ben’s has it. Great selection. Did I mention $ 18.99 handles of Sky Vodka? What more is there to say!

Ben’s Fine Wine & Spirits started as «Ben’s Discount Liquor» about 40 years ago, with the original location still in business(albeit with a recently remodeled look) on Keystone &4th. That location is actually closer to my home, but this review is specially about the South Virginia location which opened fairly recently(within the past decade). If I have one bad thing to say, it’s that I wish all Ben’s locations were as cool as this one. Ben’s usually has the best price in town on liquor(certainly far better than supermarkets), being bested only by Costco and Sam’s Club(both of which have very limited selections). Ben’s features the broadest selection of spirits, wine & beer in Northern Nevada … if you don’t see it on the shelf, they can get it for you. But the best feature of this particular location is the in-house tasting bar and the weekly wine and occasional beer and spirit tastings. On various occasions they’ve featured tastings for premium sake, tequila, scotch, bourbon, etc., which sets them apart from every other premium liquor store in town. The staff are friendly and really know their stuff. If you haven’t been to a tasting at this shop, you should really take the time to check it out. Tell Patti I sent ya. :)

Prices are fair if you’re aiming for one stop shopping. Hilarious employees. I prefer this location to the Keystone one because it’s on my side of town. They have a good selection and amount of the typical brands and choices but when it gets to the more exotic alcohols they usually lack. They’ve started carrying more, but the still fall short in some areas. I do think they have the best selection in the area though.
