Brickhouse Bakery

They stopped serving the vegan sandwich and broke my heart. Minus one star.

Superb location, great atmosphere, and if they hadn’t been out of beignet dough, they probably would have ranked much higher. If you’re gonna tout your beignets like that, you need to keep more dough on hand.
Friend and I shared a selection of cookies, some of which were incredible, some of which were really lacking. My coffee was good, but nothing to go crazy over. Overall, a satisfying but not exceptional bakery experience.
I’ll definitely be back, as I spend a lot of time in this part of town. I look forward to trying other items and maybe being a little more impressed.

I was there 6 – 14 about 10:45AM they were not «crowded» and the person in front of me was just getting their stuff when I walked up,
BUT, the girl behind the counter was head down and locked finishing up filling out some gift certificate thing, I stood there for around 3 – 4 minutes with no one saying «hi we will be with you in just a sec»
Mind you I’m not looking for a foot massage with my coffee but 3 minutes seems like forever when you are being ignored, other people would look over but not say anything.
Who knows, maybe they were just coming out of some huge problem when I walked up, but I was pretty close to just leaving as I was on the fence about a coffee anyway since it was almost beer thirty.
Big improvement when my order was called, (sort of slow but that part of the wait does not bug me since its an actual charming type environment) the guy was very friendly, thanked me for coming in etc. I appreciated that.
But I am back to two stars because the CUPS SUCK !!! they are those type with the waxy pebble finish and the styrene lid, two sips and the goddamn thing was leaking and when enough had seeped on the next tilt to drink I got coffee on my white shirt, happened twice before I noticed it

So first in line, almost 10 minutes to be on my way with a coffee americano, and a stained shirt…
I will likely try them again, but that was my first visit and it was not a great one, but I can see that maybe they were having an off moment.
But I will wear my coffee colored shirt next time.

A must try at this place would be:
crème brule cookies,
savory scones (esp. the sun dried tomato, turkey and pesto)
Coffee is good, but I’ve had better. The beignet is probably the best in Reno but I’ve had better in San Francisco and here it’s also reasonable in price.
What got me is the location, very close by to the River Park where you can watch the locals dive into their rushing clear icy cold river either with their boards, kayaks or inflatables. Another is the friendly staff. You won’t find much bake breads rather pastries. The items we ordered were all good and I would come again as well.

You had me at Beignets.

Holy smokes Batman!
Stopped in to pick up a dessert for Easter dinner at a friends house. Now a clever person would have called ahead, but as this was a spontaneous trip there was no such forethought. In hind sight it ended up being a WONDERFUL oversight.
Finding no Apple pie deliciousness (previously reviewed), I had to find something else. I settled on a Chocolate Espresso Cream Cheese pie … and WOW, I can’t even begin to adequately describe the smooth creamy delight.
FANTASTIC.
I wanted to pick up some Vegan yummies for the dear vegan and darling vegetarian daughters of mine, and Vegan rice crispy treats and vegan cinnamon rolls were recommended. The vegetarian won’t eat gelatin and has missed rice crispy treats so I thought I’d just get those but since the vegan cinnamon rolls were so highly recommended, I got both. Both daughters love me more.

I’ve been here a few times now and so far I have been very happy with everything that I have tried. Brownies (besides Cannoli’s) are my favorite dessert by far and Brickhouse doesn’t disappoint. The Vegan treats they have are good as well. I’m not vegan or vegetarian for that matter but I really do appreciate a place that does look out for those people that live an animal friendly lifestyle.

The vegan chocolate chip cookie bar is one of my fave things ever! A veg-​head friend of mine tried a vegan muffin and was impressed — she said she wasn’t used to having excellent taste *and* texture in a vegan baked good.
I tried the cream cheese cinnamon roll on Saturday and am wondering why I’ve never had that before — it was woooooooonderful! What a terrific idea! I really enjoy the creativity and tastiness of their pastries. I’m also thrilled that they carry Truckee Bagel Company bagels — they are my absolute favorite and it’s cool that I don’t have to go to the Mt. Rose highway to get them anymore.

The best cup of coffee in Reno, hands down. I had an espresso drink that was ab fab. The brownie I had with it was chocolaty and chewy and delicious. Loved the décor and service. A really great place to stop and relax with a cup of coffee and sweets. I can’t wait to try the sandwiches.

Yeah, I’m a big fan — of both the rockin’ coffee and the folks behind the counter. Everybody’s fun and friendly! I never knew what a beignet was before — isn’t that crazy?!? And now I’m a straight-​up fan!

We went to the «West Street Market» yesterday at noon. Wanted to see it. Granted, mid winter and on a Tuesday, we didn’t expect throngs of people. After walking through we ended up at the Brickhouse Bakery for coffee and some sweets. Both owners/​proprietors were there and pleasantly greeted us with conversation, etc. The coffee was good, the huge, apple turnover-​muffin was a little on the dry side, but still good.
The Brickhouse and its’ owners were the only people who not only smiled, but welcomed us and offered service. Not one other stand’s or store’s attendants smiled or indicated we were even near their place of business. That kind of attitude has got to change. What a display of rudeness and stupidity !!!
