Challenge Island is a whimsical, wildly popular enrichment program that promotes creative and critical thinking skills in children, based in Reno. Loosely based on a well-​known reality TV show, our program divides kids into cooperative tribes to take on a vast array of exciting challenges set on action-​packed thematic islands. Our innovative programming reinforces STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and core language arts skills. History

Established in 2015.

Challenge Island Reno-​Sparks is run by two sisters, both native Nevadans who’ve lived in the Truckee Meadows for over twenty years. Debbie has twenty-​four years experience as an elementary school teacher, and Jennifer has seventeen years experience as a middle and high school teacher. Both are familiar with NACS and NGSS. They are excited by the Challenge Island model and how it challenges children to be explorers in their learning. We look forward to working with the children of the Truckee Meadows.
