I spend a lot of time here for someone who doesn’t drink much, but when I do the bartender(usually Andre, Otar, or Jim) has my drink ready before I can sit down. I love that Strongbow is on tap. It’s easy to become a regular here because everyone is always so inviting and pleasant. Hours are easy to lose between games of pool and shuffleboard. It’s a great hole-in-the-wall even though sometimes that aspect attracts random mobs of hipsters that will descend upon the place out of nowhere. I think that really only bothers me, though, ha.

One of the best Irish bars in town, if not the best!

When you go to the East Coast, there’s always some neighborhood bar on the corner, and everyone knows your name like in Cheers, and it just has a nice cozy feel to it. That is Corrigan’s. They have excellent bartenders and service, and everyone seems to know each other for years and the customers, the old timers are very friendly and even buy you a drink. They have this odd thing with Underberg there along with what used to be the Old Chapel and Murphy’s Law. I hear Reno is one of the biggest Underberg markets in the world along with Tuaca. Reno, such a weird place right. The décor’s a bit old, but then again it does give it character and charm. Unlike some dive bars in Reno, you feel safe here.

I’m biased… I was here almost every weekend while in college. The Guinness is always flowing, the crowd is fantastic(never saw a fight EVER…) and it likely possesses the best jukebox in Northern Nevada. I’ve spent a lot of time in a lot of bars in Reno… and Corrigan’s remains my favorite. It’s like a comfortable pair of shoes; not the prettiest, but it just feels right.

On the tour of the«Best Bars of Reno», we ended up here after we had thoroughly exhausted ourselves elsewhere. Upon entering, I was greeted with their motto«Welcome to Corrigan’s– where everyone is a winner», by a guy in a Celtics shirt, no less… which happened to be pretty opportunistic considering the Celtics and the Red Sox were playing that night(and both won, incidentally). Mr. Celtics and I also sat on either side of a Yankees fan, which was even more funny considering how the Yankees lost that night. Despite its dive appearance, it’s just comfortable place to grab a brew, play some penny video poker(whee!), and give the evil eye to the devil’s drink– Underberg. You really can’t ask for more– juke, t.v., pool table, gruff yet gentle bartender. Definitely a stop… if you can find it.

Just a great, simple, neighborhood bar. It seems you can go there and find people of all age ranges and none of them are jerks. Next time I’m in Reno I will surely spend some time here. Also, order an Underberg.
