With the tons of events (FREE, yes FREE, wine tastings) you will always find a reason to stop by.
Even if you can’t find a few moments to get away and get a few sips in, stop on by and just ask the person on duty — and they will be very happy to help find a wine that you will be very satisfied with in your price range.
I do not know if they are able to order wine from specific vineyards or producers, but this would be my first stop to see if they are able to get that bottle you are looking for.

We met friends here for a pairing of four wines and junk foods. Sounded fun! We all purchased our tickets online a week in advance. But once there, they were short a chair! We waited patiently, figuring they were going to provide one, but when it became clear they weren’t concerned, we spoke up. Can you believe the gentleman’s solution was to stack a couple of boxes of wine at our table – a tall table at that – for my husband to sit on? Another idea of his was a patio chair (I mentioned they were tall tables, right?). What we found out was that a large group arrived just before the pairing, and instead of securing the correct number of chairs for the number of tickets they’d sold, they allowed the impromptu group to take the seats. Really poor decision, made worse by the fact they didn’t seem concerned that my husband stood for 90 min while everyone else in the room was seated. The gentleman did bring a tall chair over at one point, but because he’d taken it from another pairing customer, an elderly woman, my husband returned it. I know this is long and really, it’s just a chair, but I couldn’t believe the owners saw this as acceptable. For $ 25/​person, I think a chair should come with the package.
And how was the pairing? Meh. A couple of the wines were good, the potato chips were very stale, and I couldn’t help mentally counting the money they were making for very little product or service. Won’t be going back.

So lucky to have Fine Vines Cheese & Wines walking distance to our house. Michael is very knowledgeable and it a please to chat with. They also have some great local products available. Well worth it to drop in!

Michael helped me and my work crew pick out some great bottles to enjoy after a rough day and I look forward to making it a more regular thing, as it is a peaceful and relaxing place to be!

I absolutely loved this place! I personally am not a huge wine drinker, so I was a little unsure about which wine I would like. But the owner Michael is so awesome and picked out an amazing sweet wine for me that I adored. With amazing service and a charming atmosphere this place gets all 5 stars in my book! I will definitely be coming back here to check out more of their delicious wines.

I have been to the Chocolate and Wine Pairing two times now and I look forward to it every month now. They put on such a great event and do an awesome job pairing the chocolate with wine. Their staff is so friendly and really make you feel welcome. Dorinda’s is always amazing as well. I would highly recommend both of them!

I do miss the original owner Tom, but his son in law Michael seems to be trying hard to carry on Tom’s hard work and also offer some new ideas to the shop.
It still offers a chef night with paired wines and a WINOS night– women in need of sanity wine night. I recently went for a dessert wine pairing with friends. Surprised to have five nice sized pours of sparkling and late harvest wines and a cider. All at no charge for the evening. I see an upcoming wine pairing with the fabulous Dorinda’s Chocolates for $ 20 that look like Michael has done a couple of times already. This is a must to do. Another fun evening is their game night– bring your own or borrow one of theirs and enjoy wine and cheese with your friends.
The shop has a nice variety of wines and prices. Thank heavens the layout hasn’t changed. It’s the easiest layout to finding wines that I know of.
They also carry a small selection of cheeses to take home or have a plate made for there to enjoy with a glass or two.

Jamaican food and wine Pairing tonight. It was very good and matched perfectly with the wines. Citrus marinated tilapia with mango slaw, paired with a Sauvignon blanc. Chili lime chicken sliders with a Chardonnay, and jerked pulled pork tacos with a jicama and cabbage slaw along side a cab. Smoked tomato bisque with Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulchiano. Very yummy! I bought a bottle of this one for home. Price was only $ 38 for the pairing and the wine I took home was only $ 20. The chef came around with each course if you had any questions and! He gave us the recipes to all the food prepared for us and his card, should we have ANY cooking questions we can call! Fun evening!

Awesome cozy and comfortable place for excellent wine at reasonable prices. Great venue to relax, enjoy wine and cheese and great conversation. Mike, the owner is very knowledgeable and is excellent at food pairimgs.

We stopped in for the wine and chocolate pairing last evening. What a fun time! The shop is set up well for this sort of gathering as we were all seated at small tables or on couches. We enjoyed the information about the wines and thought the idea of a wine and chocolate pairing was fun. We also bought some cheese, which we are looking forward to enjoying this evening. We hope you will continue offering tastings and we wish this young store much success!

Excellent wines and cheeses. Tom is a awesome. I can go in and tell him what I’m in the mood for and he recommends the perfect wine!

We are so lucky to have a place like this in Reno. The owner is so friendly and helpful with both the wine selection and the wonderful cheese. It’s always a fun time when we take friends there. Also I think his wine is very reasonable.

I hosted a wine and appetizer event for clients this week. I had reserved the date with Tom weeks ago, but I did a poor job of keeping in touch with him about how many guests to plan for, what the food choices would be, etc.
Tom bailed me out! He had the perfect selection of cheeses on the trays, other delicious food, and surprised me with even a dessert offering.
He gave me various levels of price points to choose from for the wine flight. I also wanted the clients to be able to choose a bottle to take home, and he gave me some reasonably priced choices that represented high perceived value.
Without Tom taking the initiative, my event would have revealed my lack of planning. He made my business event a real success!
Tom offers each glass of wine, or choice of bottle, with a perfectly delivered story about the offering. He is very knowledgeable about so much to do with wine. It is a pleasure to enjoy his wines, his cheeses and those incredible chocolates, and his hospitality in such a comfortable and classy setting.
I will be scheduling another event this year, maybe more than one!

I want to like this place, I really do. The location is great, the atmosphere has potential and the variety of cheese is great. We love cheese and we love wine, and we love to relax and taste wines. We’ve stopped in a few times looking to do a tasting with a couple of flights, but are always turned away because it’s too close to closing time. The owners are the only people I’ve ever seen working here, and while they are nice and extremely knowledgeable, it seems they can’t wait to leave. We didn’t just go in during the last 10 minutes, I’m talking the last 30 – 45 minutes of their posted hours. We could just buy a bottle and leave, but honestly if we just wanted a bottle we’d go somewhere it will cost a few bucks less, and Raley’s is just across the street. Unfortunately, I think the lack of enthusiasm of the owners is really going to hurt this place. After being turned away 3 times we don’t even bother to try anymore, opting instead to frequent places with a more welcoming atmosphere.

Tom the owner makes you feel at home right away. His wines always beat the supermarket and other competitors by one to three $$ and you actually get high quality personal service and possibly a taste before you buy. As you get to know Tom he starts to have suggestions for you in your price range and taste range. He has introduced me to many great cheeses, and imported meats. The events are very reasonable in price and always informative and fun.
Remember this is a wine and cheese retail shop with the ability to have a great cheese plate and a glass of wine. It is not a wine bar open until the wee hours of the night. They are open 6 days a week from about 11:30 to 8 or 9pm but check the hours to be sure. My wife and I love to stop in for an after work cheese plate and wine with friends. They do great gift baskets and can order many wines if you inquire. I love this place!

I’ve been coming here since they opened. I’m from So Cal, so it’s so nice to have a specialty shop of some kind and this place has class. The owner, Tom, is very knowledgable and friendly. He always has incredible cheeses and chocolates that are from some extreme region. Love the variety. I love the fruit, cheese, and cracker plate with my wine selection. I like that it’s not loud and enjoy sitting outside on a summer day. Always made to feel comfortable. Great gift ideas.

Nice little shop. I met the owner and he was very agreeable to me, interested in the finer things in life and knowing his products, but still approachable and certainly not too pretentious.
I stopped here while next door at Peg’s #2 and had a nice little exchange. I looked around at the middling selection of wines, all a little more expensive than other places (like Trader Joe’s and CVS). I talked the owner a bit and he had me try some UNBELIEVEABLE chocolate. I mean he just gave this shit away. It was from Sao Tome and Principe, this trippy little island country off the coast of Western, Central Africa. Or it might have been from Colombia. Regardless, I believe it was the highest quality chocolate I’ve ingested, not necessarily the best (soft spot in my heart for the chipoltle, spicy pepper flavored ones), but still very impressive and enjoyable.
This chocolate was unbelievably smooth, creamy and rich with bits of espresso. Just wonderful.
In addition to being a nice little local wine shop this place has monthly wine tasting events which I thought was pretty cool.
One of the weekly events is WINOS, Women in Need of Sanity. Cool, right? I tried to send my girlfriend there, but the logistics just didn’t work out.
Anyway, worth checking out if you’re in the area and enjoy fine chocolate and wine. Maybe I’ll see YOU at one of their future events? Much more convenient for a Reno resident than Napa or Sonoma.

Stopped in on Saturday night for a glass of wine before our 7:30 dinner reservations. They have a nice selection of reasonably priced wines — with some good choices out of Napa and Sonoma. The wines we sampled were good, not «knock your socks off», but okay. We were the only group in there and they were closing up shop at 7:00…on Saturday? I guess Friday is a busier night for them, but they only stay open until 8:00? Huh, I know I’m a bit of a night owl but even 8:00 seems a little early to be rolling up the sidewalks! They seem to have some fun events during the week — I’m willing to give them another go!
