Worst bowling experience I’ve had. Way too expensive for what you get in terms of lack of quality. The lane next to ours kept breaking down then same happened to us. The shoes are worn down and waaaay too slippy. Almost slipped and twisted my back several times when trying to bowl and so it became more about trying not to fall than enjoy a game of bowling. Heard the guys next to us and from a lane further down complain that the shoes were absolute «bullsh*t» because of slipping. Old worn out bowling alley, do not waste your time and money coming here to potentially injure yourself.

Played on a bowling league for the first time. GSR turned out to be a pretty cool place. Easy access and parking isn’t all that bad. Run into some trouble with the pins and lanes but that’s to be expected for their age. Great bar tender in the little bar located inside the bowling facility. Fun times!

Went here the other week on a Monday night cause Sun-​Thurs night 9 to midnight they had $ 2 shoes and $ 2 games which was a great deal. Not anymore! It’s $ 4 shoes and $ 4 games now. Tuesday night is the only night they do that deal anymore. They took a cool special that drew people in 5 nights a week and now they only do it once a week!!! I’ll definitely not be bowling here much anymore.

I love bowling here! Before I got married and had kids. I used to have friends. Me and the people I called friends used to bowl here every other weekend from 9pm till 5am. But because of their specials and having a league card. 8 hours of bowling for 6 – 8 people only came out to $ 150. That’s like $ 3 an hour per person! Super cheap entertainment! They have a bar that’s usually open till midnight or 2am, depending on the day and they had drink specials too! Even more cheap entertainment! Anyways, there is a down side. Do NOT come here during prime time on Friday, or Saturday… People with their friends flood this place and you’ll be on a waiting list for hours. Oh they did «throw» away my bowling ball that I had in a locker but I guess it was my fault since I didn’t renew my membership. I figured they would contact me but I guess they weren’t my friends.

Worst bowling experience. Lanes are in terrible condition. Pins often do not get reset equipment malfunctions. Employees stand around with no sense of urgency. Line to py for bowling is extremely slow. Staff I’d often rude. My friends ball got a large chip taken out of it due to their equipment. Bar closes way too early. There are no discounts only for 3 hours on tuesday. They need to have 1 dollar bowl from 12 am to 8 am like alleys in las vegas so customers would be willing to spend more at the bar and on food. I paid 16 dollars for 2 games for me and my fiancée and the lane was awful made me loose my rythym. If I could I would never go back but there are only 2 other alleys in town and they close before 10 most nights. Reno has the bowling championships and the hall of fame but there is nowhere for a local to have a good bowling experience in town. Also last night it took the food counter 1 hour to make 1 personal pizza. Worst bowling alley I have ever been too. If I could rate 0 or negative stars I would.

Lanes are outdated balls get stuck missing pins, sometimes you have to move to another lane. We have lost up to 30 minutes or more bowling 3 games. rumours of updating next year. Not enough seating for team bowling 8 people on 2 lanes Joined A league this yr first time for me n the wife. thought it would be a date night for us. there is a bar and snack shop. Food is ok I see alot of people buying pizzas have not tried it.

If you pay for a game, rent shoes, and the lane you are assigned does not work (pins don’t reset, bumpers don’t go up, ect), they WILL NOT give you a refund. My daughter and I were able to bowl 0 (zero) frames which cost us $ 16. NO REFUND. Thanks for coming out.

The lanes are uneven and are always breaking down. The balls sometimes forget to come back. If you don’t mind that then come on out and bowl.
They have a snack bar but I wouldn’t recommend much in the way of food. Most of their food gets placed in a oven. Fries etc… are all baked. The GSR should invest in a different snack bar.

Was told it would be a 30 minute wait. It’s now been 1hour and 20minutes. Was told it would be another 15 – 20 minutes. Wtf?!
Saturday night. Came in at 5:40pm. Not even all lanes full.

Bowling there is fun BUT do NOT go into the pro shop. It is not part of the GSR and the owner was crooked. I tried to purchase shoes, they were not there on the day they were promised, I tried to cancel but he would only give me store credit. What would I do with store credit to a place I refuse to do business with ever again. The man was extremely rude and very difficult to deal with.

They need at least 2 bartenders because the one they have tonight is slow and can’t multi task. On busy nights like tonight they need to have someone that is capable to handle a big crowd.

Cheapest senior discount rates in town, that I know of — $ 1.75 per game. $ 2 at Coconut Bowl, $ 2.75 at High Sierras.
Despite what was reported in another review, this place DOES have a pro shop and it is open. I like the one at High Sierra better, though they didn’t have any used balls for me there. I did get a good deal on a used ball at GSR’s pro shop.
Although its cheaper, I prefer High Sierras. The facility is poorly lit except for the lanes, and the scoring machinery is hard to use and not intuitive. The scoring displays are low-​res, small given how high up off the floor they are, and hard to read. The input device uses membrane «keys» that are VERY had to actually engage. You have to press so hard it was actually painful for the fingers at times, or it won’t register the input.
Then the display is so small and grainy I couldn’t read the labels on the graphics they wanted me to «follow» to set up the scoring. I couldn’t even tell for sure whether the button they wanted me to push at one point was red or orange (there are both on the input deck), nevermind what the label actually said.
They seem to get a lot of people in there who are just screwing around. There were beer-​drinking young men next to me who kept stepping on my lane — this about 1PM on a weekday. They would literally stand there ON DECK waiting for their ball to come back and set up for the throw while the pins were still resetting, instead of stepping back and letting me take my turn. Only once did one of them catch himself, apologize, and let me go. While you can run into these clueless sorts almost anywhere, somehow the fact that this is inside a casino just seems to make it more likely for this sort of thing to happen.
I did manage to find a used ball here. I was happy with the deal I got on that, it was the right weight and seems drilled almost perfectly for my hand already.
I will bowl here because its $ 1 cheaper (senior discount) than High Sierra Lanes. However its only 25c cheaper than Coconut Bowl (again, senior discount). I haven’t bowled at Coconut Bowl yet, but I plan to soon. Given I prefer to bowl during the time when kids are normally at school, I’m not particularly concerned about the number of kids that might end up there while I’m bowling, LOL!
I much prefer High Sierra lanes over this place and will bowl there whenever I can afford to. When/​if I join a league, it will be at High Sierra and not GSR. The only advantage to GSR is the lower Senior rate — if you’re paying full price, its either the same or slightly cheaper at High Sierra and I would send you there rather than to GSR.
And yes, the lanes at GSR are SUPER oily. I’m not sure what that’s all about.
Personally I would never take a kid to GSR, it’s inside a freakin’ CASINO. Take them to Coconut Bowl or High Sierra instead.

Austin is the best ever! Did birthday shout out to my two friends and changed the music to what we wanted! He was awesome and should probably get a raise!

Overall this place was nice and the employees where friendly. The only negative is that it was a little pricey. I did like their new bowling shoes and the fact that they have automatic bumpers for the kids.

I love this place. Beautiful spa, nice rooms, easy to earn comp rooms and a huge play area for the kids. Only thing I wish is that the Spa had better specials. We come here about 1 time a month since we live in a rural area and need a day or 2 to do our shopping. Best place in Reno.

I’m giving this bowling place a 5 stars. This place is great for children and adults. Games are affordable. I’m glad Grand Sierra is children friendly.

Fun amenity in the Grand Sierra Resort. A little dated but has a full bar and is pretty clean. Could use a few more staff members, but I’m sure it’s tough to know how to staff a 24 hour bowling alley properly. We always have a good time here.

Haven’t been bowling in ages but the BF and I decided to take a break from gambling and stopped by here.
Started our night here about 6:30pm and played at least 6 games each until 10 or so. Monday-​Thursday games become half off between 9-​midnight, awesome deal each game is only $ 2 per person!
We wanted a lane away from other people since there was a huge loud crowd but they were not able to switch us

I had fun last night playing bowling. Bonding with my bro and sis here in the west coast.

I have not been to the GSR bowling alley since it was the Hilton. I must say I was impressed. It seems to have gotten a make-​over. New day glow paint job. Clean. Good and friendly customer service. Full bar and cocktail waitresses coming and checking on you. They have half price bowling after 9pm. Not sure if this is 7 days a week but it did get a bit more busy after 9 pm.

I have been here several times now. Weeknights, after 9pm, only cost $ 2 per game. I never had trouble with the lanes and the place is clean enough. They also have a bar and they serve food. I haven’t tried the food or drinks here.

Ok I admit it, we enjoy bowling. That’s not to say we’re good at it but we like it! We’ve been to several other local alleys and this by far is our favorite.
50 lanes and open 24 hours; the wait (if any) is always reasonable. Lots of balls in the right sizes with different sized holes. That sounds perverted but relevant if you are cursed with fat thumbs! Scoring is easy but you need to tell them when you start how many games and who needs bumpers.
This place can get busy on holidays and a lot of the people that bowl here have NO idea what bowling etiquette is and thus are running around, walking in front of you, and bowling the same time as you are. Lots of kids on weekends but… if you skip out of work on a Monday afternoon for a date with your loved one you, can have the place mostly to yourself!
The bar doesn’t open until 4ish on week days but you can buy bottled beer at the counter. Food is typical snack bar food, however you can bring food in from any of the vendors on site (there’s a Johnny Rockets and a Port o’ Subs downstairs). No smoking in the bowling area, smoking is allowed in the bar and it’s REALLY smokey. Go have some fun!

PATRICK is a douche. Extremely rude no Customer service skills whatsoever. Other than that the lanes are nice.

Came here with a group of 9 people! I would say 80% of the lanes were occupied. We wanted two lanes next to each other, and they offered to put us on a wait list until they could accommodate our request. The wait wasn’t too long!
They have a small selection of arcade games, including an air hockey table for 4 tokens (~$ 1).
There is also a room with a bar with beers on tap. Pitchers were about $ 16.97 including tax, but this was on a Monday night. Billiards are also in the room for $ 8 an hour. Be advised, they don’t split the time, so you pay for an entire hour, regardless of when you finish.
I liked that they had an area for you to hang your coats and jackets underneath the countertops. The music was on point.
It was crowded for a Monday night. Lots of youngins. But hey, what can you expect for the price? If I lived nearby, this would be a go to spot for me, as well :)
The only gripe about this place was the fact that they couldn’t split tenders. The group wanted to pay with multiple cards, but couldn’t because of that. So if you plan on coming here in a large group, bring cash.

It’s a bowling alley — what’s not to like? Yes, it has that musty, sweaty child odor and the nothing is new here, but it’s a bowling alley and bowling is fun!
This particular afternoon I took the three boys (which helped add to the sweaty child odor). I wanted to get them out of the house before my little kills them over holiday break so they get some exercise. We each bowled two games and rented shoes. Fifty-​six bucks. Kinda steep for an hour of fun, but it is what it is.
The scoring set-​up is super easy. On scoreboards not in use, they were showing music videos, a football game and the like. Really quite cool. For whatever reason on this Sunday afternoon, we had the laser lights going and the music loud. It was nice so I didn’t have to yell at them every five minutes because I could neither hear nor see them.
We left there having had a good time and making sure to wash our hands. I like this place and we will be back because we like to bowl once in a while. But wouldn’t it be nice if a bowling alley didn’t feel like a bowling alley? Maybe stepped up a notch?

It is overall a great place for kids to play or for families as well. It is $ 9 per person per game and they play music and sell pizza, French fries, soda, etc. The restroom is clean and nice and there are multiple vending machines for various things. There are many shoe sizes available and the slope is also available if needed. The downside is that the machines that run the game mess up a lot and we needed to constantly call for help. But they would always fix it quickly. Bumpers are put up by telling a worker.

Why are three strikes called a turkey? Because you literally used to win a live turkey for doing it back in the 1800’s. WEIRD!
Does anyone really like bowling? I’m terrible at it and cringe when people suggest it as an activity, yet for some reason I still have fun every time I go! I can’t figure it out! I’m always amazed at the people who are really good at this sport. I often wonder how they decided to spend all that time getting good at hucking a heavy ball down a greased up lane at the defenseless white pins. But then again there’s that undeniable gratification that everyone feels when those pins crumble!
GSR Bowl is just like any other bowling alley. They’ve got the weird 80’s carpet, the goofy looking shoes, requisite arcade and novelty games, a separated bar area that allows the youngins to bowl while the adults have a good time, and a pool table or two, because no bowling alley is complete without them. The crowd here seems younger than some of the others, but maybe that’s just because I’m getting older. Either way, it’s as good a place as any to get your bowl on.
Big group or small, you’ll have a ball. Ha! See what I did there. Well, check it out for yourself.

A-​OK sums it up. Nothing spectacular, but it’s available for a night of bowling. I don’t bowl a ton, but I thought that it seemed a little pricey — $ 4.50 per game and $ 4 for shoes. The place was packed and noisy, but that’s to be expected on a Friday night. I do like how they turn the lights down and turn on the party lights at night. All of the balls seemed pretty old — with divots and cracks in them. That would probably bother me if I was a serious bowler, but I’m not — so it’s just an observation.
I don’t know that I will shop around for the best bowling alley since I bowl so infrequently. So, I’ll likely come back in the future since it’s close and convenient.

Reno is a mecca for bowling. Heck, they have a bowling stadium Downtown and all sorts of Pro Tournaments take place every year in Biggest Little City in the World. If you are like me and your bowling experience mostly consist of numerous hours of trying to figure out the perfect swing on the Wii controller, then Grand Sierra Bowl is your place.
Located inside Grand Sierra hotel and open 24 hours a day, this 50 lane bowling alley provides a whole lotta fun for the whole family. I recommend to avoid weekends as they get extremely busy and the wait for a lane might be in the ‘hours’ territory, especially in the evenings. The prices are obviously higher during peak hours too but Sunday afternoons are generally not too bad. The shoe rental is a must and I noticed that they run a bit large so you might consider going down half the size off the bat and take it from there.
The lanes are clean and modern, with decent scoring system and ramps for little kids. Make sure to mention upon paying if you need a ramp or bumpers up for certain players. There is a snack shop and a small bar in the area but don’t expect miracles here.
If you are staying in the hotel, Grand Sierra Bowling is a must. If you are not, it is still one of the places in Reno that’s worth a visit…

Although I’ve had many, many issues and bad experiences at the Grand Sierra Resort as a whole, I gotta admit that the Grand Sierra Bowl seems to be an okay place for the most part.
Pros:
–It’s open ²⁴⁄₇.
–It’s huge.
–Friendly employees.
–There’s a fairly modern scorekeeping system.
–There’s often discounted specials running after midnight.
–If you’ve got a GSRewards players card, you can use comp dollars to apply towards your bill. They also have some separate bowlers club card that will get you additional discounts.
–The snack bar is decent.
Cons:
–Some of the oiliest lane conditions I think I’ve ever encountered anywhere in the world, and it seems really hard to get in «the track.» Bring towels, and don’t get any on ya.
–No fingertip or semi-​fingertip grip bowling balls available, just standard conventional grip house bowling balls.
–A really bad selection of teeny-​bopper music that’s constantly blaring throughout.
–The rental shoes are the ghetto, cracked, laceless velcro types, and are in dire need of replacement. Be sure to go at least one size smaller than your normal street shoe size.
–The pro shop closed for good recently.
–The bar closes extremely early. I believe they do last call at around 9:30 — 10:00 pm. However, they seem to be lenient about bringing in your own beverages, as the photo indicates!
All in all, it’s an okay choice if you’re staying on the property or have friends that are, but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to make a trip here. I’ve had much better luck at the AMF on Stardust Street.

This place is as good as it gets! Somehow bowling has become a post-​field tradition for our group. It’s a weird tradition, I know, but I find that it really boosts moral. So I push for it every time.
Now, I know, you might be thinking, bowling? Alicia K., how is bowling, 5-​star worthy? Dear reader, this is no ordinary bowling alley. In fact, it’s a spectacular bowling alley. There’s so many lanes!!! 50 to be exact. Friday and Saturdays you’ll get the glow-​in-​the-​dark action! Come on a Sunday — knock the center pink pin out with a strike and you’re celebrating a free game! You’re whole group will be hootin’ and hollerin’! Ours always does…
Forgot your socks? They’re available for $ 3! Too expensive? Chances are you’ll get a bogo free coupon upon your check in to the Grand Sierra Resort! Or come on a Sunday for bogo. Honestly, I can’t remember a time we actually paid full price here… And really, you cheapo, if you’ve managed to miss any of the daily specials, it’s only like $ 5 a game…
What other excuses do you have left? Too tired? Oh, Common! After several long hot or freezing (weather dependent on the season) days in the field, to me, a bowling ball can often weigh a million pounds more than I remember. BUT somehow I manage, and so can you! A few rounds of beer and suddenly you’ll be scootin’ around in your neon pink and yellow rental shoes — breaking 100 without a sweat!
