The best little toy store in this city and possibly on the planet.
If you’re looking for good quality and hilarious stuff, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is friendly and trust me, you’ll feel like a kid again in here. I buy all of the classic toys (wooden, etc) for my son and I only go here for them!

Super fun stuff for adults and kids, it’s a great place for all ages. I never fail to find something I love here.

I have bought little Yoda key chain few years ago and forgot to leave a review. I have my Yoda till today and he always say couple of words when I accidently seat on him. Heather is a very talented girl I have always liked her furry animal heads. Great artist, Great person.

Seriously FUN store. This is NOT your normal toy store. This is a great toy store for those looking for someone older and a fun or unique toy. I found some great items for my 12 year old that is into unique and fun things and a few gag gifts. This has become one of my daughters favorite stores and when I need to buy her a gift I will absolutely return here! You can’t miss it with the big neon cat :)

What a fun store! Friendly and relaxed lady behind the counter. The first thing I picked up was this little plastic tv with a peep hole to look at pictures, but I dropped it and it fell apart on impact! I apologized and as I was putting it back together (luckily, the damage was reversible!), she just laughed with me and said, «it’ll probably just go back together!»
Browsed the store much more carefully after that and had a blast down memory lane. Prices were reasonable, though sometimes the sentiments seemingly cheap toys can create are priceless.
The store supported a lot of local artists, and inspired lots of gift ideas. Easy to find, easy to park, easy to spend an hour or more laughing at silly stuff and reminiscing.

A little bit of Reno heaven. You start to smile when you see the latest creative window dressing they have put together when you walk to the entrance. You keep smiling as you explore all the little quirky treasures they keep inside.
Every time you walk in here it’s a delight. This is equally fun for kidlets and adults.

If you are searching for a traditional toy store for something for a kid, this might not be your place! But if you are searching for a funky gift for a friend, or want to treat yo self to something off the wall, and unique, this is your place!
The staff is friendly, and knowledgable. The vibe of this place is alice in wonderland on acid (but a good acid trip! Not a creepy one!). They carry noveltys, old school toys, comics, and anything else random that the buyer thought was cool, so be prepared to find some unique items!
I often stop here when I need a gift for my bunco group, or white elephant at christmas (not saying that their stuff is «white elephant-​y». Most people don’t know this place exists so when they get the gift, they think it’s super unique)

Love this place! Always find something cool and unusual when I’m here. Great for kids and adults. Owner is warm and friendly.

This place is a goofy fun store where you will find odd funky décor to accent the odd funky items. Star Trek or Star Wars? Got it. Gag gifts for old age? Classic games from the past. Got it. You will smile and laugh with the humorous gifts that are both modern and sentimental.

Fun, awesome goofy little store that that will have you laughing and reminiscing over the toys they sell. I LOVE this place and could spend hours in here even though it isn’t much bigger than a small apartment.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The place is decorated so well and the big Cheshire cat greeting you as you walk in the door is an awesome touch. You know you are about to have some fun when you walk through the doors of HHJJ.
My coworker and I had too much fun in here buying the Buddha cat, the «What would Jesus wear» book and the cat unicorn horn. We were laughing our asses off and some of the stuff this place offers. My favorite was the Beatles yellow submarine lunchbox. If you haven’t been here yet you must check it out. Such a blast.

When you see the giant purple Cheshire-​cat mural on the brick entrance, you’ll know you’re in the right place!
Happy Happy Joy Joy is primarily a toy and novelty store, but it does have a selection of zines, comics, and art books. Lots of Archie McPhee/​Fred Flare type novelty housewares and gag gifts. The brightly colored shelves are packed with classic kids’ toys, accessories, and home décor. They also have some nice locally made soaps, handbags and tote bags, and other girly gift items.
Even if you don’t need anything, the «Shoezilla» sneaker sculpture alone is worth stopping in for.
Most importantly, it’s right across the street from Junkee, a vintage/​secondhand/​antiques mega-​store that is hands-​down my favorite place in Reno. So don’t forget to wander over there! These two stores alone could make for a great afternoon of shopping and gifts for everyone on your list. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Midtown.

Walking into Happy Happy Joy Joy, you’re inner spirit will first be awoken by the color palette, which will have you wondering where to look first. t’ll feel as if you’ve fallen down the rabbit hole and aren’t sure which way is up. But don’t worry. This is totally normal. As your sense of equilibrium returns, you’ll experience that «We’re not in Kansas anymore» feeling, and I mean that in the best way possible. Glancing around, you won’t have the slightest desire to leave anytime soon.
The fiery and friendly Shoezilla will greet you. He may look ferocious but he’s really not. This Godzillaesque sculpture is made of Vans shoes donated by Reno eNVY owner Scott, who used to be a rep for them back in the day. He hangs out above an ever changing well decorated seasonal window display featuring the coolness of the moment! Sock Monkey sorta watches over this area, as he watches old cartoons on the vintage television set and hangs with his other plush friends. As you’ll probably be a little tired from your journey here, don’t miss the opportunity to have a sit on the comfy chair nearby.
As you wonder through the world, you’re likely to meet the Zombunnies next. These clever creations are something Heather herself dreamed up, inhabiting corners of the store both high and low, and while they appear menacing, they’re really just looking for love in the form of someone who wants to take them home!
And Soaring above you you’ll find Heart Monster and Balloonicorn keeping tabs on all things below. Heart Monsters wings are pretty angelic, and Balloonicorn’s cuteness is undeniable. They’ll win you over in no time, and you’ll never think of leaving.
The shelves are lined with more clever critters, toys, games and assorted things of amusement. If you’re still not sure where to head first, Heather will be happy to point you in the right direction, and she’s likely to help you discover something you didn’t even know existed!
The name of this shop reminds me of my childhood, but the contents remind me I’m not a kid anymore! Happy Happy Joy Joy is easily one of the most creative stores in our community, offering a shopping experience that won’t be soon forgotten, to all who choose to explore!

Perfect place to get great gifts without giving money to oligarchs.
I got all of my holiday cards there. Unique and interesting. The anti hallmark. Loved it.
Also seemed like it had all types of quality gag gifts for adults and youth.

I’ve been here quite a few times as well, usually shopping for gifts or just on a whim while we were out and about in Mid-​Town. The store is delightfully quirky and you can find things here you won’t find for sale anywhere else in Reno as far as I am aware of. I love their selection of morbid little things and strange toys, and admittedly some of the stuffed animals you can find there are adorable. There’s quite a few things from there I’d really love to have if I had the place to put it.
The lady that runs the place is very nice and the music is fitting for the establishment, I fully recommend at least going in and having a look around.

I was surfing the Midtown web and was on Happy Happy Joy Joy’s website. My daughter zoomed by, came to a screeching halt and exclaimed, «THAT’S THE STORE WITH THE CAT AND THE GOOGLY EYES!» And then she recounted all the times we’ve visited, whether it was to buy our favorite puzzle, dream about birthday presents, or to check out the NadaDada event. Her enthusiasm prompted me to leave a review. Lol. This store really does have EVERYTHING. I mean things that I never thought possible – are here. The staff has always been super helpful, even while wearing roller skates. :) My favorite thing about HHJJ is that it’s one of those pioneering stores, bringing a new kind of life and energy to Reno. It seems more like LA or San Francisco. Or… outerspace?
I think I’m more inspired at HHJJ than I am at most art museums. Every product seems to have been carefully hand-​picked by a cutting edge art connoisseur.

I found several birthday gifts and was uplifted by the fun and curiosity-​inducing atmosphere. The woman working the store was very helpful but then let me do my thing, both of which were appreciated.
I will go back and find myself a gift! It got my creativity rolling and reminded me that life with toys can be fun!

This place is FUN! My friend has an office upstairs from this store, while visiting him one day to walk to India Kabob for lunch, I took the photo that goes along with this review.
So last week, me, my son and his girlfriend were coming back from lunch at Mari Chuy’s, when the girlfriend saw Happy Happy Joy Joy, and swerved into the parking lot real quick. I got my first walk-​around inside of this store, and let me tell you… HEAVEN!!!
There is everything you could have imagined as a kid in this store, and things I would NEVER have imagined (I need their sand thing, go in, as, she’ll show you)! The owner is SO artistic and super down to earth, LOVE HER! I walked around the front of the store with her while she pointed out some of the artsy crafty kinda things she’s done… I wish I had thought to take more pictures, but I was seriously enthralled and the last thing on my mind was my phone. Shame on me! Ah well… another reason to go back! LOL
She had a box of kids books by the front door, she let my son’s girlfriend take a bunch for free… BIG thanks! Those books went to the school that she works for, the kids LOVED them!!!

The best place in town to buy unique gifts and fun toys. They even have kid robot! Seriously, this is my one stop shop no matter the occasion bday, baby shower, Easter, whatever it may be HHJJ has something awesome.
HHJJ has new product weekly. Heather is constantly rearranging the store so you always see something new-​even if it was there the last time. That’s how much awesome inventory she has! She has also started carrying more local art. I should just give her my paychecks and call it good.
Still the best store in Reno.

So this is a toy store with a frontage that looks like a huge friendly-​but-​intoxicated cat wandering around at Burning Man. Which is sort of what you get. That’s not a bad thing! Just be aware that if you are looking for a gift item for a more straight-​laced baby shower or birthday party, this may not be your logical destination. But what do you expect? It’s funky row in Reno. It’s not a bad thing. NOW, if you are looking for trolls: you have hit troll heaven!!! It was enough to almost get me back into collecting. There are a lot of novelty items that might work for adult gift exchanges, teenagers, or holiday novelty gifts.
Staff was very hipster & chatting together, but seemed friendly. :-)
I don’t think it would hurt to maybe add a few more items that are more standard fare just for the sake of those of us who wander in with an hour to spare before a Red State baby shower. I mean, that can be a very desperate situation. Also, the parking lot situation is a lil’ bit scary because it’s all diagonal, nose-​in parking which means you are backing out into a small parking lot on a diagonal, going one-​way, while kiddos are in the lot going to the store or the kids consignment next door (or, alternatively, walking your kids past people trying to do this). Can it get simplified or reworked somehow? But these aren’t reasons to skip checking out an awesome independent business.

A friend of mine at work came running up to me last week. «HEY! You dig zombies, right!!! Well, there’s this super cool store across the street from Junkies that has zombie lunchboxes!!! And so much other cool shit! You’ve gotta check it out!» I smiled wanly, because I’m quirky… I’m not to be stereotyped! I like tons of odd, fun and stupid crap! (I’m quirky and different dammit… *sniff* lol)
So I went to visit Happy Happy Joy Joy, and I WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY!!! Where have you been all my life? It’s like the owner took all the stuff I loved in my childhood and I enjoy now out of my head and put it in a store!!!
Let’s see: they sell everything from zombie gnomes to slip n slides to giant squirrel masks to awesome art magazines like Juxtipoz to Game of Thrones toys to Ren and Stimpy collectible things to Jesus shaved mugs to… aaaahhhhhh!!!
Fantastic store. You must check it out! There’s something for everyone! I mean, there’s cute kid toys too, but there are the awesome toys for us adults! (QUIRKY DAMMIT! :))
