KTVN Channel 2 News CBS

Probably the best local news and weather out of Reno. Good coverage of local stuff, but mostly I watch for the weather since I drive a lot. I watched the other channels in town and this seems the best. The editing and technical stuff aren’t as polished as a larger market newscast, but better than smaller towns… at least they didn’t screw up like Channel 2 in Oakland (FOX) with the airliner crash pilot name debacle … «Wi To Low» and «Ho Lee Fuk» … and the newscaster kept reading it from the teleprompter! …and don’t forget «Captain Sum Ting Wong!»

Kristen Remington had me on for their money watch program and I had a blast. She was very nice and professional and easy to talk to in person. Thanks for having me on it was a nice boost for my business :)

I rarely watch any TV, and– frankly– I can’t remember the last time I watched KTVN. But I’m sure the wife watches it a lot, and it was my job to pick out and install a new TV antenna for our new Digital TV, since I hate satellite TV and I’m too cheap for cable.
Anyway, had a question about what frequency good old Channel Two actually broadcasts on (Channel 13) so I could get the right antenna. Mr. Alan Nichols– Chief Engineer– took the time out of his busy schedule to fire off a timely reply, for which I’m grateful.
Love hooking up with the People That Know instead of being passed off to a flunky who couldn’t care less. Good job, KTVN.

Mike Alger might be the biggest local news celebrity in Reno. Must be that sweet lip jacket he’s been rocking for as long as I can remember. I think only cops and local TV reporters can get away with a mustache without looking like a hipster anymore.
The news on Channel 2 is alright. Not the best in the area and certainly not the worst. If you have to watch local news, you could do worse than Channel 2.
On an only semi-​related side note, did you know Mike Alger wrote a book? Seriously! I saw it at Grassroots this past weekend in the Nevada section. The synopsis on the back is just too good not to share:

Weatherman, mustache aficionado, newspaper contributor, and novelist with a sense of humor. Maybe that’s why Mike Alger is so popular.

I like to watch Erin and Tom in the morning; they are funny and the banter between them is hilarious and a nice eye-​opener in the morning. The news is reported in an unbiased manner. I find them to be personable and friendly to each other and viewers alike.
I would have given five stars but I don’t care for Wendy Damonte’s style.
Bring back Lise Mousel and this would be a five start review!
