Established in 1976.

Northern Nevada Plastic Surgery started in 1972 with Dr. Gareth Strand, Dr. Nielson, Dr. Greenberg, and Dr. Hastings. As, 3 of the 4 doctors retired, Dr. James Murphy joined Dr. Gareth Strand in 1998. Dr. Murphy has been in practice in the Reno area since 1998, where he was born and raised. Dr. Strand has since retired, and Dr. James Murphy is the sole physician practicing cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

For over fifteen years, Dr. James E. Murphy has been providing his patients with surgical excellence in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Dr. Murphy was born and raised in Reno. Dr. Murphy received his medical degree from the University of School of Medicine. He went on to complete his general surgery training at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He received his plastic surgery training at Wake Forest University at Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina. Dr. Murphy is a board certified plastic surgeon with the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Murphy currently has one of the busiest and most respected cosmetic and reconstructive practices. Dr. Murphy’s easy-​going bedside manner allows his patients to feel at ease enough to relay their desires and ask any questions.
