Paul S’s Beer Club UYE at Under The Rose Brewing Company

Another fun beer club event hosted by one of my favorite Unilocalers, Paul S.
This time it was a return visit to Under The Rose Brewing Company for some of their very fine locally produced beer. The high quality brew more than makes up for the very utilitarian ambiance of the converted body shop.
I had the flight of five beers — all were wonderful. The Pumpkin beer and the Dubblebeer were new tries for me. All were excellent with the Dubblebeer vying for my affection with the Saison.
Dinner was available from Mellow Yellow — I opted for a classic burger, The Houstonian, and I am so happy with my choice. A great burger with high quality beef, cooked to perfection on a firm bun that can stand up to the juiciness.
All in all a great night. One makes these events so outstanding is the people. Few things are finer than getting to spend an evening drinking great beer, eating good food and having a great conversation with interesting people.
My 4 stars instead of 5? pretty much the industrial atmosphere. It was cold and the seating was not the most comfortable. But the beer is the star here. And the hospitality of Jesse and Scott is unparalleled.
Looking forward to the next beer club.

A fun time with fellow Unilocalers! The bar is sort of like hanging out at your friends garage. It is a little chilly with a very mish-​mashed décor. It definitely feels like you are back in your college days when you might have a wooden spool for a coffee table. There are several games to play so that is really cool. I didn’t have beer tonight but the water was clear and cold. I did pay attention to the staff and the service was really great. The bartenders are super friendly, especially the black fur-​tender (adorable dog). Tonight the Mellow Yellow food truck was there and I thought it was really cool that they could put a food truck into their bar. It definitely took bar food to a whole new level. Thanks for a great evening Paul!

Background — Trying Under the Rose for the UYE Beer Club
Atmosphere — Very industrialized space. Robert V was able to tell us the history of the building explain that it was a gap between two building and they basically put a front and big roller doors in the back and slapped a roof on it. He indicated it was a body shop. Now it is a brewery, with a door large enough for a food truck to pull in. This Thursday it was Mellow Yellow. The only problem is the temp, you had to wear your coat to be comfortable. Then the smoke from the kitchen in the food truck was getting a little thick. Almost need a vent on roof to help vent.
Food
Drinks — Sampled a good variety of beers, the Pumpkinbeer was excellent and Dubblebeer was being put into the kegs tonight to tell you how. fresh it was tonight. Excellent choice if I have to say
My Meal
Main Course — I had the Under the Rose burger. Yummy. The burger was thick and juicy, and the cheese oozed out of the burger.
Service — Jesse and Scott were great house and worked their bar with ease. It was great talking to Scott a little bit about his philosophy about how he brews his beer.
Future — Love to come back on a warmer day. It is just like hanging out in garage.
