Reno Tahoe Taxi

After a bit of online research we found Jerry Keys and his business Reno Tahoe Taxi for a family of four round trip from RNO to Kirkwood ski area. From start to finish the experience was excellent. My online form quote submittal was responded to within an hour by Vickie. She continued to be extremely responsive and professional patiently responding to additional questions I had and re-​confirming travel details prior to pickup. Luis, one of Jerry’s handful of drivers, was right on time for the RNO pickup, extremely friendly, professional, even making the effort to engage my kids in fun small talk to pass the time. The service included a grocery stop along the way which Luis accommodated even allowing us to pick a preferred store. The return was equally enjoyable and painless. Jerry himself arrived precisely at our arranged pickup time, entertained us with great local knowledge and stories. To top it off the rate was very competitive. Both drivers extremely safe, staying to the speed limit and being extra cautious on slippery spots. I absolutely will use Jerry and crew again if I need transport in the Tahoe area. I hope he can help make your vacation a little more enjoyable and stress free!!!

SCAM ALERT! SCAM ALERT SCAM ALERT! THIS GUY IS A FRAUD AND WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED!
I booked a ride about a month in advance of my holiday trip, needing a ride from Reno to Tahoe and back for a week of skiing. I was told bring $ 155 cash for the inbound trip. I emailed the day before to confirm and told them, on email record, that I’d bring the $ 155. When I arrive, some other driver, Sammy from Thailand, calls me. Would have been nice to know to expect him but whatever. Sammy asks if I need to pay by credit card because he’d have to turn on the meter, and I said no I brought all the cash Jerry told me to bring. As we’re driving he then tells me the fare is $ 75 one way and $ 85 back. I think, hmm that’s weird, I thought I was supposed to pay all in bound, and it also added to $ 160 not $ 155 quoted, but I figured whatever, he’s the driver I’ll do what he tells me. We get to the house and I give him $ 85 — 75+10 tip. THIS IS THE MOMENT OF TRUTH!!! Rather than say anything like, hey you owe me $ 155 after he counted the money, he got back in his car. We had been calling and texting all day and even after I entered the house, he never called or texted to say hey there’s a misunderstanding you actually do need to give me $ 155 (which I had told this «company» several times that I had the cash and intended to give inbound). I AM GLAD I DIDNT BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE SCREWED ME– THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED:
Five days later, I, being a planner and a type A, email this company the day before once again to confirm my ride back. Jerry calls me back and tells me that since I didn’t give Sammy $ 155 upfront the ride back is now $ 110. I’m not sure when he was planning on communicating this to me! It had been 5 days … very suspicious, I’m thinking… so I respectfully stand my ground and say no you need to talk to YOUR driver who told me to pay him $ 75 one way, $ 85 the next. JERRY SAYS HES SITTING NEXT TO SAMMY AND DOESNT BELIEVE ME, HIS CUSTOMER. He’s incredibly rude and very patronizing. I am in sales and I was shocked by his phone manners. I tell him he can charge me $ 110 but I will go ALL OVER the internet on him to let everyone know of his fraud. At this point, he tells me «Well you just slit your own throat, I don’t even want to get you now» (who talks like that??? I hadn’t even said anything unprofessional yet! At that point I told HIM to go f*** himself. He then sent me some WEIRD TEXT about how Jesus died for his sins so he could go to heaven — as if I care about his mortal soul right now??? WIERD.
The bottom line is this guy probably had a last minute better fare on a holiday weekend. I had to scramble to find another cab, really ruining my day on the mountain, and I was EXTREMELY LUCKY — it was next to impossible to find a ride that late in the holiday week for the next day. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRUCKEE RIVER Taxi — very professional and even take credit card over the phone. I’m sure I’d have seen neither my ride nor my money had I paid upfront with Sammy and Jerry…
I also found it interesting that Sammy said that he came to this country as a refugee from Thailand after the Vietnam War — uh last time I checked we weren’t at war with Thailand, so he’s been scamming my country since 1975. Sammy was also trying to scam Jerry, telling me not to call Jerry and just call him directly because he said Jerry is totally senile and making clients very mad because he takes calls and says «uh huh» and then forgets to get them… now I’m thinking «forgets» is more … does what is most convenient for Jerry to make money.
For me this was never about the money — I make six figures, I ski in Tahoe… I don’t need to save $ 30. In fact, I had planned to give Sammy $ 100 for the $ 85 fare back, a pretty decent tip. So they would’ve made the same amount of money almost NOT trying to screw me. Sorry, Jerry and Sammy, LOSERS and LIARS never win — Über will kill you, and you don’t deserve business of honest people. Its a shame so many good people die of cancer and heart attacks, and these scum get to walk the earth.

We recently had a taxi from Jerry reserved from S Lake Tahoe to Reno. There was a mixup in pickup time and we had a plane to catch. We had no time to wait for a taxi to come up from Reno. We found a taxi van to carry the 5 of us and Jerry paid for the whole fare! This was a very stand up thing to do and we really appreciated it. Thank you, Jerry!

Jerry is awesome. He was on time both taking us to South Tahoe and picking us up for a return to Reno. His rates were very reasonable and fair and the best we could find. He is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and was happy to make sure we didn’t miss any of the very scenic sights along the way. There was a serious accident which prevented us from getting in to Tahoe and Jerry not only took care of us but knew his way around to get us there in the shortest amount of time.
