St. Albert The Great Catholic Elementary School

After being part of from St. Albert’s school for eight years, and having my child graduate, I would not recommend this school. In my opinion, grades first through fifth grade were just okay, I expected more from a private school. First grade was great, second grade the teacher lacked focus and the students fell behind, third grade was good, but the teacher had to do a lot of «catch up» with the kids to make up for the lack of teaching at the second grade level. The fourth grade teacher was an emotional disaster, they have since replaced her with someone that is not much of an improvement. Fifth grade was decent. Then we get to the junior high level, sixth through eighth grades. This is were the wheels really come off. In my opinion the junior high level teachers are not qualified, and there is a lot of disruptions that distract from keeping the kids on task. In some classes my student did not even have a book or handouts provided to them, because the school did not have them available (again we paid tuition and the school can’t afford to provide the necessary class materials?)
Overall in my opinion St. Albert’s School has really gone down hill, hiring unqualified teachers, not having proper text books, and losing sight of why we would choose to send our children to a private school.
I do not recommend St; Albert’s School, there are better qualified schools in Reno to choose for your children.

My kids have been at St. Albert’s for 2 years and they love it. We have been impressed with the staff and warm, caring environment. The academics are challenging and expectations high, but it has pushed my kids to be better students. I would highly recommend this school.
