History

Established in 2000.

Cheryl Danza humbly began her career @ Renton Beauty School. Building on that she went to the Gene Juarez Training Salon & specialized in high color, became an educator for GJ & worked for 11 years. During that time she trained in Paris, New York & Italy.

Later, Cheryl met Ken returning to Renton they began CD Danza Salon & Spa.

I have always loved butterflies they are my muse. I also believe in magic. I was born with the gift of seeing people, listening to their dreams and passions. Add a little CD magic and with scissors and color I transform. My clients take flight into the world. Watching them fly is addicting. I have always known since I was a girl cutting my little sisters hair that I wanted to be a stylist. I’m also practical, I am a firm believer you have to make your own luck and work hard to make your dreams come true.

I’ve traveled the world, participated in award wining hair shows, was the personal stylist to celebrities and was fortunate enough to be in a series of commercials doing Josie Besset’s hair. But something called me back to Renton and like a butterfly I too returned & began CD Danza Salon & Spa with my husband Ken and my son, Lucas. Ten years and still going strong! It takes community to make a place special and at CD Danza it has definately taken a village to build an amazing place.

I was walking by this saloon a few days ago n seen that they said Unilocal loves us n I just had to write another review !!!
They have horrible customer service if you look like u r a normal person n not rich, I came in twice, I had a gift card for the place back in 2011 n I went in with a backpack n asked to get my eyebrows done, the owner lady was asking tons of questions why I had a backpack n all made me feel uncontrable n unwanted but oh we’ll got my eyebrows done for free. The second time I came in for a hair appt which was for a spiral perm n I dint have enough on the gift card so I told then I would pay the difference with cash, she kept asking me if I was sure I could pay for it she had ask like 3 times !!! I kept telling her yes. Anyway so then she told me she needed to cut the back of my head hairs cuz it’s dyed hair so she cut it super short !!! I dint grow back to regular for 2 years it was embarrassing cuz wen I pulled my hair up u could tell the back of my hair was short n it kept on sticking out !!! Then she said she would helped me design my hair n tell me how to keep it nice but some other came, she don’t finished up with me n just went to assist him !!! Just horrible experience here !!! DONT GO THERE !!!

The salon was clean, well run, and very professional. Cheryl was very polite and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable. My stylist was friendly and did an amazing job on my hair. If you are looking for a quality cut and great service– look no further.

Let me start off with saying; Cheryl (the owner) does a good job. If you have a few hours, by all means see her. If you’re strapped for time, go elsewhere.
I’ve cheated on my regular hair stylist with Cheryl for the past 3 – 4 years. She does a really good job, and the personal touches are great– I wish I could use her as my full time hair stylist. However, each time I’ve visited her, I’ve had to wait anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes to get in the styling chair. My appointment today was no exception. I arrived 5 minutes prior my 5:30 appointment (even left work a few minutes early so I’d be on time), and waited until 5:45 in the lobby. I asked the receptionist how much longer it would be; she asked Cheryl, and she told the receptionist it would be another 15 minutes (she was only shampooing her previous client at this point; realistically it probably would’ve been another 30 minutes). I’ve never spoken up about her tardiness, but having arrived after a 10 hour day at work, enough was enough– I probably should’ve brought this up to her the 2nd, or even 3rd time this has happened.
I point blank asked why I was scheduled at 5:30 if they weren’t going to get me in until 6:00 — 6:15. I was replied to with a dumbfounded look, with the literal words «I really don’t know». I can’t let my time be wasted like this again though, especially when I’m paying upwards of $ 140.00 for a partial color and cut. On my way home, I made an appointment the soonest I could– 2 weeks out– at my regular salon.
Cheryl, you offer a great product, but you really need to have more respect for your client’s time. Your tardiness is just rude.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty! I feel pretty and witty and bright! (you know the song! you can sing along!!)
I saw Cheryl today — and goodness, what a difference a hair style makes!
My first impression of this place was, «Wowwee, it’s big!» I’m used to small intimate salons, but really it’s the seating area that’s large. Which is pretty darn nice when you’re waiting. I was greeted by the friendliest woman who offered me tea and I later found out was Cheryl’s Mom. Neato!
Cheryl was a little late, but her Mom kept me busy talking, so I didn’t notice and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had a salon appointment on time.
First impression of Cheryl — warm and kind and attentive. She listened to me and then gave me her suggestions and then waited to see what I thought. Given that she is the professional and I’m clueless, I went with her suggestions.
She has a quiet demeanor about her and a soft touch. She does talk, but she doesn’t overly talk, if that makes sense.
And she so dexterous, made me feel like I was seated with a pro.
I certainly got lucky! I’ve found my new hairdresser! :D
And man do I feel pretty (and lucky)!! She done me right!
On a random note… this place has 41 filtered reviews, (which seems absurd) and quite a few of them are good reviews. I have no idea why they have been filtered. Hopefully mine doesn’t get filtered too!

I have been to many hair salons throughout my life. This being said I am very particular about my hair experience. You have to be when you have naturally curly hair. CD Danza is by the far the best salon experience I’ve had in a long time. Amy is my stylist. When I started going there I had a Mohawk. Amy saw my vision and was able to transform words into an even more fabulous version of my hair. I love how friendly the staff is, getting my hair rinsed after my cut, and being treated well each time. Yes, the front desk does leave a little to be desired. Would you rather have immaculate service at the front desk and a bad haircut or the best haircut of your life and mediocre front desk service? I think the choice is simple. Pick CD Danza for your next Salon appointment.

OMG… this place is a big joke. I used a groupon for a french shellac manicure and had Hailey stop after she did 2 nails. It looked like something I would do. I’ll tell you what, the Asian nail salons have spoiled me. My first clue that something wasn’t right was when I walked in the door. I could go on and on but just let me say this: stay the hell away from this place. You’ll be wastng your money.

Unfortunately I don’t plan on returning to CD Danza. They aren’t able to retain the good stylists, JJ was fabulous and I really miss her. I do love Aveda products and will travel quite a ways to buy/​use them, however they seem to charge a bit more for their Aveda products than I have seen at other retailers. After JJ left and I was rescheduled with another stylist, that stylist quit before my appointment and I was rescheduled again. I had another male stylist «sleep through» my appointment and it was cancelled when I checked in, and that was my last trip back. So disappointed!

I was initially loured to CD Danza from a Groupon deal and the fact that it was closer than the downtown salons I usually frequent. Appearance wise it is a nice, modern salon. I was booked with a stylist who specialized in cutting curly hair (yay!). First 2 cuts were good and I was ready for my next visit. Found out she no longer works there. They didn’t reach out to her existing clientele to inform them she had left… nothing.
Now I had been forewarned that management wasn’t the greatest here. A former worker there had informed me the owner was a nut and yelled all the time in front of customers. I never experienced this, but I DID experience the owners husband who would linger around the stations pretending to do busy work which made me uncomfortable (and I would imagine the stylists who were being watched). Also, there was never more than 1 other customer in the salon with me when I’d go. I thought it was odd since it appeared to be a nice, roomy establishment. If it is so great, wouldn’t it be packed?
All I know is that I won’t be going back since their only curly specialist isn’t there any more. Perhaps Tabatha’s Salon Takeover will swing by to whip this place into shape.

I am a fan of JJ, she is an awesome hair stylist, and takes time, and listens to what you want. If you go there, I highly suggest you ask for J. J, because she is amazing with the siccors. She also does make-​up.

I went to CD Danza to be rescued from a horrible hack-​job of a haircut and J.J. saved my life!!! She’s super sweet, is attentive to your hair needs & wants. I do have to point out that the front desk is NOT organized or well trained at all. My last appointment was double booked with another so J.J. was not able to give me full attention because she was trying to accomodate multiple clients at once on account of the poor scheduling.
I’ll continue to go here so long as J.J. cuts my hair. But it is a bummer that their customer service is sucky.

I hate it when a good gift idea backfires.
For a Christmas gift for my wife in 2006, I got sucked in by CD’s Renton newspaper ads for all-​in-​one pampering gift cards for holidays. I bought one of their packages and upgraded by adding on an additional service, I think it was eyebrow waxing, that wasn’t part of that specific package deal.
Somehow, either through the person who scheduled the appointment or through the person who rung-​up the sale, this add-​on was not reflected in their system, even though I’d paid for it. Later in the afternoon on the day my wife got her services done, we got a phone call at home (rather confusing and not too friendly) from someone at CD’s, perhaps even the owner, that said the service wasn’t paid for and basically accused my wife of somehow stiffing them.
Somehow this got straightened out over the phone when it was explained the card was for X services plus Y added on and it cost Z dollars total. Once she determined what had happened, the person didn’t apologize for the confusion or offer to comp anything on future visits for the trouble her own staff created.
Despite my wife having a good experience with the salon professionals, the front desk’s faulty grasp on basic business practices left enough of a poor impression that she hasn’t been back. I certainly wouldn’t be inclined to purchase one of their packages again, as the last thing a husband or boyfriend wants to do is give a gift that brings stress to their spouse or partner.

The new massage therapist there is excellent, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my friend and we share a first name. Really. Go see Rachel. The girl’s got talent.
Update: Sorry, Rentonites. Rachel is no longer working there. Which means that they currently have no massage therapist (again). Not to give too much secondhand information, but it sounds like this is because they’re shady on the pay scale.
The good news is that Rachel now works at Olympus Spa in Lynwood, which was totally worth the drive even before they had her magic hands.

I ended up waiting 45 minutes after my appointed time for a haircut, but once we got started (the stylist was backlogged, it seems) the haircut and accompanying conversation was fine. This seems a reasonably trendy youngish salon, for one located in sleepy Renton. My haircut for long hair cut to medium was $ 35.

Fabulous Aveda salon in Downtown Renton. Super nice staff, they bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable. I go here pretty much exclusively for haircuts and manicures, there’s really nothing like going to an Aveda salon.

Classy little day-​spa in downtown Renton, very near the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train. This place has the look and feel of something nice you’d find in Seattle (only smaller). Cheaper than Seattle prices but not cheap, either. A nice place to get pampered, though. They do it all– hair cuts, spa services, waxing, makeup, and massage. They run some decent promos somewhat regularly, too.
