Value Pet Clinic

Yesterday was my first visit here for my Puppy Bruno. I was recommended by a friend to go here that has been going here for years.
The Vets are very sweet and treat the animals extremely well. Bruno did great even though he was nervous for his first visit.
Only reason I didn’t give five stars was the quoted price before was about 40… After the appointment it was around 84 dollars. Which is fine cause he needed another shot but it would be nice to know the price ahead of time. Also today they called to see how Bruno was after his shots and I really felt like they cared about him. I will be back for his second shots and routine check ups!

I have been coming here since I got my first puppy 1 year ago. I got a reminder in the mail that it was time for Bentley’s annual shots. I called and asked the receptionist if I was still able to come in 20 minutes before closing and she let me know they would be more than happy to assist us. Even when Bentley gets a little rowdy, the staff are always so friendly and understanding!
The only downside: they don’t do appointments for exams and vaccinations.

I’ve been going here for more than 5 years for Edgar (who is now 13) and honestly thought I had already written a review, probably giving them 3 or 4 stars for their friendly service, no appointment necessary policy, being open on weekends, and inexpensive prices. I had read the mixed reviews but because my brother liked it, decided to ignore the bad reviews and check it out for myself. However, after the experience I had recently, I cannot, in right conscience, fail to share the experience with my fellow Unilocalers.
First of all, I love my dog (as I’m sure all of you love your pets). My soul would be completely and utterly destroyed if anything ever happened to him, and I’m not in the least bit exaggerating.
A few months ago, Edgar seemed to have lost his hearing. The usual cues that guarantee a reaction weren’t doing it (e.g. when the doorbell rings, he will go crazy barking). Here and there he’d shake his head or scratch his ears. I asked my boyfriend to take him in on his day off to get it checked. The doctor looked in his ears and said that he was just getting old. When my boyfriend came back with the diagnosis, I was doubtful, as Edgar continued to scratch and shake his head sporadically.
Friday before last, Edgar was vomiting all day, dry heaving significantly. He did not eat the rest of the day, understandably. When he didn’t seem to look or act better still on Sunday, I took him to Value Pet Clinic Sunday afternoon to get his digestion issues examined, and his ears looked at again since I was there anyway. The same doctor that saw him previously was there and checked him out. She looked in one ear, said it was fine, started her schpeel about him being old and hearing loss happens, and when she looked in his other ear, admitted that there was some discharge and it looked like an infection. As for the digestion issues, she said that his chart revealed that he has a heart murmur and that this probably is contributing to his vomiting (which seemed weird to me, but I’m not in medicine). She said that they’ll need to take chest x-​rays and asked that I come back in a few hours.
When the x-​rays were ready, the doctor asked whether I had experience looking at x-​rays. I told her that I did not, so she pulled a «normal» dog chest x-​ray and walked me through where the lungs were, heart, and that the lungs would normally be black because it was air. Then she showed me Edgar’s x-​rays and said that his lungs were more gray, indicating that there was fluid. She also pointed out that Edgar’s heart seemed «enlarged», stating that it was likely due to his heart murmur. She said she gave him an injection to reduce the fluids, and that she prescribed medicine that I should give him to continue to reduce the fluids. She said that the radiologist will call me tomorrow once they look at his x-​rays to see if there was anything more to the x-​rays. She said she wasn’t working tomorrow, so another doctor would be calling me.
The next day, another doctor (who I had a hard time respecting because she talked like a valley girl, sounding extremely young and unprofessional) said that there were no issues with Edgar’s lungs or heart; rather, it was his esophagus that looked dilated. They referred me to Access Blue Pearl Vet who is an emergency vet (and by the way, they are fantastic and review is to come). I asked whether I should continue giving him the lung medicine and she said that it wouldn’t help and to stop.
After checking Edgar into the emergency vet, it turns out that Edgar has mega-​esophagus. His heart is fine (other than the murmur) and the vet at Blue Pearl also told me that the lung medicine that was prescribed was useless and to not give it to him.
A few days later, I called Value Pet Clinic to ask whether they can refund the money for the lung medicine. They told me that they could not. I explained that I felt it was unfair that I should pay for any medicine based on a misdiagnosis, especially when another doctor there the very next day told me to stop using it. I asked if she can talk to someone else there to explain the situation to see if I could get a refund. After a few minutes, she came back and said that her manager would not make an exception to this policy. I explained again how unfair it seemed, and all she said was that she was sorry but they couldn’t do anything about it.
In the end, it isn’t about the money — it was a matter of principle and whether they would own their mistakes. They clearly did not, and as a result will lose my business. This seems like a short-​sighted policy and I hope they re-​analyze their position as they likely will lose other customers as a result.

I’ve been coming here for almost 4 years now with my Maltese baby and not once have I ever had a bad experience. The receptionist are always very friendly and welcoming. The vets make everything very understandable and ensure my puppy will be ok every time. I’m glad I live in this area so that my puppy has a good place to go when he is feeling ill. Thank you so much!

I’ve been to both the Shoreline and the Renton locations. Everyone is friendly, and welcoming. I definitely recommend the services.

Beware! Their name is Value pet clinic BUT they charge double of what other vet offices charge. Their staff is very friendly but I just can’t see myself spending double of what everyone else charges. Do yourself a favor and shop around.

Had to take my cat in a few days before Christmas as she had not been feeling well for a few days. Searched on Unilocal actually and discovered Value. Upon researching them a bit, I found a coupon on their site for a free exam for a new client, so I was grateful to find that and took advantage. I called ahead and found out they do not take appointments. I drove up and was able to get right in, had to wait about ten minutes to see the vet, which was nothing to complain about.
The exam room is pretty basic, a couple chairs and an exam table. Not much else you need in there. The staff is careful and gentle with your pet. They seem to be knowledgeable. I was offered a few different options and they brought me quotes on each service before I paid for anything or agreed to anything. They also told me those quotes would be good for 7 days if I needed to come back to do one or two (I opted for a pain medication and antibiotics and bypassed the xrays and analysis’s). Reasonable prices as well.
The staff is okay; coming in as a new client I was not completely impressed. I would expect them to be welcoming, but it felt like they were treating me as if I should’ve known how their check in process worked.
Not a bad place. Would consider coming back in a pinch again if needed. Didn’t see anything wrong, would recommend for a basic exam, cannot tell you much more than that.

I like taking my dog to them. They know what they are doing. Very nice and try to help you out with anything you need. The only think j would want different is making appointments it gets way to busy and sometimes you won’t be and to get see when you come in.

Let me 1^st say, today will be my LAST visit to ANY Value Pet Clinics. Despite the friendliness of the Vet and their assistance, I absolutely can no longer stand the rudeness of their receptionist.
I’ve been to this location 2 times prior to today’s visit. She was the only receptionist that was more up there in age. The other 2 or 3 were quite young and VERY polite and professional. The receptionist that first helped us (I didn’t care to know her name) looked to be in her 50’s I’d say — with glasses. She first came out as very polite and friendly to talk to. But within 5 mins or so of her servicing my husband and I, she is actually one of the rudest, unhappiest receptionist I’ve ever encountered.
We came in to get refills for my doxie’s monthly Trifexis tablets (discon. at their clinic) and to get my doxie’s annual vaccinations and MAYBE her rabies vaccine. This receptionist kept asking us if we were sure that it’s time for my doxie’s rabies vaccine because she couldn’t find us in the system as she was typing away on her computer. I said maybe since it was almost 3 years ago but it was towards the end of 2011 but it was at VCA Covington and you know what she did/​said? She goes, «See we need to know that info since we don’t SHARE info,» waved her right hand up and hushed me (since she apparently can’t multi-​task). She can ask me annoying, same repetitive questions over and over, but when I offered more info, she didn’t have time for it. I was levid but kept my professional cool.
After waiting 20mins or so, my husband got fed up with her rudeness and wanted to leave. So without a word, we went out to my car and I called up the VCA Covington (my Lily’s original vet where she received her rabies vaccine from) to find out when my Lily last had her rabies vaccination and received a response in a snap. Just then, a very kind Vet assistant stepped outside and raved us to come in and was very patient with us. SO we thought, what the heck, because of her, let’s go in and give them another chance. As we walked in, the older receptionist hollered over, «We couldn’t find your name in any of our system or at the other clinics!» I apologized to her saying that it was under my husband’s name and not mine and that it’s okay, I’ve already called myself and found out the info needed. She looked exasperated and annoyingly demanded, «Well are they going to send us over your files?!» I simply flat out said, no because I didn’t need it. She sighed annoyingly even more, «Well that’s something we need! You need to come over and spell your husband’s name so we can call back over for the files!» I’m not even mad anymore at this point, just humored at her «dilemma.» I flat out told her that wasn’t my problem and literally spelt out my husband’s name 3 times and she still didn’t get it. The other 2 young girls (receptionist) had that look «are you kidding me?» written all over their face. After I repeated myself a 4^th time on how to spell my husband’s last name, I just walked away. Didn’t even get a thanks from her, but I didn’t need it. I was glad to be rid of her.
****BTW, «his last name is Monday with a ‘U’ and not an ‘O.’» This is an EXACT QUOTE of what I repeated to her over, and over, and over… yet she STILL didn’t understand. She goes, «So it is spelt ‘Chau…’» I’m like. uh no. M.U.N.D.A.Y. You know, like MONDAY? Get it?” She still looked confused but got it eventually.******
The vet assistance and the vet were very nice and informative as well. She treated my fur child with gentleness and care, and talked to her as she administered her vaccines which I really respected. She also offered a prescription for us to use at other Vet Clinics to try to get more refills on the Trifexis that was discontinued at their location. When we came out of the vet office and proceeded to approach the receptionist counter, the older receptionist called out as we were half way there, «Your prescription isn’t ready yet!» For reals? You couldn’t even wait until we finished walking up to the counter, politely greet us again and then tell us? The other two young receptionist looked uncomfortable. One of them chimed in, «It’ll be out shortly.» Thank God the old receptionist wasn’t the one that processed our payment and bid us a kind farewell.
The problem I’ve found with both the Kent and this Renton location is that there’s always that ONE receptionist that is extremely rude and disrespectful whom ruins the experience for it’s clients. First impressions matter, and here, it matters a lot. I’m trusting my furry child, my love in their care and if some of their staff can’t even respect me, that place does not deserve any more of my business despite the rest of the experience being great.

I am not one for reviews, but after my experience at this Value Pet Clinic, I felt inclined to write one.
Pros– The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Cons– I cannot say the same for the very rude, unprofessional, vet technician that I was greeted by (short blonde hair) once I was called back into the exam room. After asking her a series of questions regarding vaccines, she had the audacity to leave the exam room and MOCK everything I was saying/​asking to her to the Vet. RIGHT OUTSIDE THE EXAM ROOM DOOR, where I could here the ENTIRE conversation.
1. Entirely uncalled for.
2. If you want to make fun of the customers that are giving you business, shouldn’t you at least wait until they leave the building? Sheesh.
3. As the head Vet of the clinic, shouldn’t you be the one to tell people who work under you when they are acting inappropriate? Or ask that they lower their voice when they want to go on a tirade and make fun of people who are on the other side of the exam room door?
Moments later, the Vet walked into the exam room as if the conversation was never had with the technician. She must also be unaware of how thin the walls are. I told her I no longer wanted to get my pet vaccinated there, due to the unprofessional and embarrassing conversation I overheard. As I went to walk out the door, she simply muttered «sorry».
I was very let down by this clinic. If you have the option to go to the Bellevue location, I encourage you to do so. Their staff is always happy to answer any question that I may have. and they are always kind and courteous. Renton Value Pet Clinic should take a page out of their book.

It is with some sadness that I must downgrade my review of Value Pet Clinic, after our last experience there. Our golden retriever had a horrible skin infection that just seemed to come out of nowhere. He was lethargic, and kept chewing on the infected area, which of course made things much worse. Our regular vet was unavailable to see him that day, and so rather than wait until the next day, we took him to Value Pet Clinic. In a nutshell, they wanted to administer treatment to him that would add up to about $ 400. NOT a value at all, for just a skin infection. The veterinarian was very nice, but seemed inexperienced. I think they just wanted to do everything (there was a shot that was going to cost $ 150, among other things) to make sure they covered all the bases. We don’t believe in over-​treating (or over-​paying!) so we opted to just pay for the consultation, and also for antibiotics, and made plans to see our regular vet the next day. It ended up costing around $ 80, much more reasonable.
By the next day, the antibiotics had kicked in and our dog was definitely on the mend, so we took the wait and see approach, and within a week, the infection was completely clear and he was 100%.
Lesson learned! Value Pet Clinic is good for some emergencies, but not others. Can I say we won’t go back? No, however, we will really try to get in to see our usual vet first.

NEVER TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE, THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL SCAM. THEY SHOULD RENAME THE PLACE «VALUE-​SCAM»
If you look at some of the reviews below that aren’t given by their 5 star friends, you’ll see that this place is a total bait and switch. They call themselves a value, but it’s just to get you in the door. Once you bring them in for the $ 29 exam, they will make up a million things wrong with your pet and give you a bill nearing a thousand dollars — OOO WHAT A VALUE!!! The workers are extremely slick and like car salesmen. The doctor (a man, started with a B) will do a pile on of fees, oh it’s fine, what? oh it’s suddenly a heart murmur (perfectly healthy cat one year suddenly has a heart murmur after 20 minutes of exam where they didn’t hear a heart murmur, now suddenly it is a heart murmur, WHAT???), oh it’s this, oh they need this, oh and this is going to need to be done too, and oh we’ll have to do 3 total exams all at another fee, and oh we can’t just do one xray, you have to BUNDLE it and oh our doctor doesn’t know how to READ xrays, you have to have a SPECIALIST read the xray (s) we only do THREE xrays at a time because it’s a BUNDLE. F*CKING SCAMMERS! They claimed my pet was jumping around from it’s hind legs due to «glands» needing to be express, but oh it could be heart disease even though she checks out totally fine and her pulses are excellent but that’ll cost you another $ 450 and oh, it’ll need a $ 450 blood draw and oh, you’ll also need a tooth extraction with multiple exams anesthesias and medicines added onto it. REALLY?
I knew the second they brought that huge list of «values» totalling a thousand dollars, that I was going to just have to go elsewhere somewhere where they actually CARE about animals, not their pocketbooks. You have to admit, it’s an EXCELLENT SCAM to actually CALL you business «value» and claim you’re «LOW COST» and oh we’ll price match any other vet, but OH, SORRY, WE CAN’T PRICE MATCH BECAUSE WE DON’T DO JUST ONE XRAY AND OUR DOCTORS DON’T KNOW HOW TO READ AN XRAY AND YOU NEED A BUNDLE SO THE PRICE MATCH WON’T APPLY HERE. OMG I HATE SCAMMERS.
I don’t trust «VALUE PET» as far as I could throw them and I would NEVER EVER trust my animal to these money grubbing scumbags who just care about money and not your pet. NEVER EVER EVER take your pet there, and watch with a keen eye them pile on the costs like slick scummy car salesmen. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

turns out my beautiful little kitty just had a strained little leg and it got better in 3 days. I was totally skeptical when he had said her leg pulses were normal, so i’m glad I didn’t fall for his bill embellishments. I just monitored her in a confined little room and she got better and better every day and after the 3^rd day she was back to her chatty happy little self.

I have to say that this place is great when you’re not financially secure. They explain cost to you before you even think to ask it. However, I have found that your chance of getting decent customer service is ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. There have been times where I have felt completely helpless and even neglected by staff when it came to my cat’s deteriorating health.
It’s the perfect place for a check up but for something more serious it’s not.

Love everything about this clinic. They treat pets and their owners with care and always explain everything in great detail.

I arrived right at 9am on Sunday which is their posted opening time. They must open earlier than that as I was #4 in line. The vet, Dr. Larry I believe, was knowledgeable but curt and hasty. His visit was less than 5 minutes. He said someone would be in with a written estimate of services required.
That took almost 30 minutes and they were not that busy. I asked after 10 minutes if they had forgotten me.
The young women (3 – 4 at the front desk) are all very friendly but they are constantly on the phone and talk very loudly so you can hear their entire conversation. They appear to be running the place and it is hectic and unorganized.
2 people complained about their bills.
I was there for 2 hours.
I am grateful they are open on Sundays and the care was adequate. I will not be going back however due to the unprofessional feeling to the place, the lack of care the veterinarian seemed to have and the amount of time it takes to get through their unorganized process.

Love this place! We started going here when they first opened. Friendly staff. Efficient. The vet techs are very gentle and caring with your pets. This is a drop in clinic so no worries about needing to make or cancel an appointment! Conveniently located in the Renton Highlands in a small business mall.

This place is amazing. I’ve been going to them for over 7 years. I’ve had my dog neutered, all my cats «fixed», as well as surgeries and check ups of other reasons. Most recently a vet there knew that my mother couldn’t afford a particular surgery for her cat that was super serious and did it for free. This was extremely surprising because she had expected the bill to be a huge amount. But after receiving the bill for everything, all that she was charged for was the check up and some medication. The surgery and sedation was $ 0.00. And it was not a mistake. I don’t know why he did it, nor do I know if someone else just paid for us or he did it for free, but that act made me cry. It was so kind. I will absolutely keep going here, as well as everyone in my family. We love our pets and these people seem to care a lot about animals. Thank you VPC!

Horrible place. When you call on the phone, they try to make it sound like it is low cost — and the «office visit» is less than other vets in this area ($ 29 instead of $ 40) — but their medication and other services are TWICE the price of other vets! And they lure you in by refusing to quote prices for other services and/​or medication on the phone. I’m sure the medication is a set price; why can’t you tell me how much a very specific item is going to be when I already know the quantity and dosage? Ridiculous.
Bite the bullet and pay the extra for the «office visit» somewhere else so you can end up paying less overall for the medication and shots.

If I could do negative stars I would. I just picked up my dogs from their usual vet and the dog that Value Pet clinic had said would need 3 molars pulled for an additional $ 500 does not need to have his teeth pulled. The vet checked all of them and said they were completely fine and in good shape. This stupid clinic would have pulled out perfectly fine teeth just to get more money from you. Save your dog the pain and avoid this place at all costs.
My normal vet is chambers prairie in Olympia, wa. They are wonderful, not shady and charged me $ 200 per dog and my other chihuahua had to have 2 teeth pulled.
Don’t go to value pet clinic, they will charge you hundreds in additional costs if they have to do anything but clean the teeth.

Ok, seriously LOOOOOVE this place!!! They are so kind and gentle with the animals and it doesn’t hurt that they DON’T charge an arm and fricken leg to help you animal. I am totally one of those that would sell my soul to help my pet and they know that! But they never over medicate and are very open about options.
The renton clinic also partners with another clinic that is 24hr emergency and they’re also very nice and open about stuff. We called and they said it was something that could wait and that’s nice! Though if we had brought her it it would have only been $ 99 for the exam (compared to other emergency places that have charged me $ 150+ just to step in the door)
We also LOVE Dr. Beestman (sp?) she’s awesome with our pup! She will sit on the floor with her (I’ve been to vets that force the dog to be on that cold steel table that ALLLLLLL animals HATE!) and coo to her until she’s comfortable. Which only makes things even more impressive that the wait is never very long! :)
