Big Lots

This location has closed as of Jan 9^th, 2015.
I spoke to them and they said they will not be reopening and closed because of lease issues. They also indicated there are no plans for additional stores to open in the area.

Your typical big lots. You grab a bunch of stuff you don’t need! Hopefully, now that there closing this location the other store on Sherman way and Topanga canyon will have more cashiers! Since, they take forever to ring up customers.
FYI: This store will be closing by the end of the year. This store only is offering 20% your entire purchase. After Christmas everything else will be 40% — 60% off according to the store manager. They are not going out of business, the new owners to the building have took over the property.
There is always big lots on Topanga canyon and Sherman way!

This place has the worst service ever! The workers are rude/​seem angry all the time, don’t know what merchandise they have and aren’t helpful at all. Don’t ever go 15 minutes before closing to get one thing real quick cause they’ll rush you out. I’ve been here maybe like four times and I’ve had horrible service each time. The employees are not friendly at all! They need to seriously have better management and maybe hire people who have good customer service skills.

Even if you bought a defective item there without a receipt they won’t return or even exchange their defective product. Take your receipt even when your being rushed out of the line by their sweet caring employees! So rude!

Update to a prior review 11÷19÷13 They made excellent improvements overall — but looks like they went in the other direction a bit on organization and cleanliness. Its a good place to go for Paper Products /​cleaning supplies…

If you’re looking for Macy’s or Saks, forget about it. It’s a Big Lots, for crying out loud. I come for the good deals and they’re here in abundance. The food selection is remarkably good, with excellent prices on name brands. This particular store is in a low income neighborhood and the ambience reflects that – the ailes are kind of tight and the displays a little shaggy at times – but, again, I don’t come here for the shopping experience, I come for the deals. Great variety.

So after reading some pretty bad reviews of this place I decided that I wanted to see it for myself, kinda like when you go to a strip club that your friends have been to and warned you to stay away from because the chicks smell like fish
Walked in and the place was clean! No shit in the aisles, no dirty diapers littering the aisles, no sassy fucked up employees .I asked one of them where the light bulbs were and she walked me all the way to the back of the store, which I didn’t mind at all because she had a bangin’ ass.
Picked up some cleaning supplies, light bulbs, and some paper towels and $ 10.75 later I was on my happy ass way. Big ups Big Lots!

It’s what you expect for a chain but they have pretty goood deals here for food and more. Pretty convenient location right next to the grocery store and other little shops. Nice selection of furniture if you need to furnish a room.

YES, it’s a mess and understaffed and is indeed a «shithole» (as one reviewer correctly stated), BUT I’ve got to give some props to that store for some of the bargains they have and some of the deals I’ve found over the years.
The place matches the neighborhood, which is not what you would call high-​end. It is in fact less than meticulously organized, but the deals on certain staples (paper products, detergent, cleaning products, shampoo, plastic items, socks, etc.) and certain food items (cereal, spices, certain juices) can’t be beat outside of buying off brands in smaller quantities at a 99-​cent store; and what you can’t find, you can go next door to Ralph’s and pick up. I will admit that the place is dirty, the service is slow at best, and there’s nothing high-​end here (although I’ve bought things like burr grinders and a few high end products here over the years), but you get what you pay for, and I think Big Lots is worth a look if you’re in for a laugh and a treasure hunt.

Don’t waste your time. How this chain remains open is beyond me. This particular location seems understaffed, dirty, and the prices not low enough to justify the experience.

Shopping for decorations for a Nightmare before Christmas themed party (
) has turned out to be quite… well… nightmarish.
I’ve been running store to store, from West L.A. to the Valley, gathering the bits and pieces needed. But here I was, a week away from the party, and I still didn’t have a tree. Some sleuthing online provided a faint glimmer of hope… Big Lots had trees. White ones, and pre-​lit. Did I care that there was a big fat red slash across the photo saying «most stores sold out»?
Nope.
I walked into what looked like all hell breaking loose, shoppers scuttling about like frenzied crabs, snapping up anything and everything. The trees were displayed on a raised platform in the center of the store, with the corresponding stock stacked below.
There was my tree, all sparkly and white, but with absolutely no stock under it. «You think I’d be able to buy this display tree?» I asked the young lady stocking the ornaments. She smiled, said «of course!» and went to go find her manager. I had to double check to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.
Twenty minutes later, I was the proud owner of what I swear is the last f-​ing all white Christmas tree left in Los Angeles. Not only did they sell me the display, but Christina gave me a discount (for the lack of a box) and Brad even walked it out to the car for me. Leave it to Big Lots to totally surprise me with excellent customer service.
Yes, the store is cluttered, but considering the time of year, everyone was super nice and ready to help.

Sweet Christ, what a a fucking shithole!
Want to see dirty diapers in the aisles, merchandise scattered everywhere, filthy floors, and surly staff? Come to this Big Lots. When I first walked into this place, I thought, «Did we have an earthquake that I didn’t feel?»
I think these guys have just given up, because everytime I go in here, it looks miserably filthy and in disarray.
I wouldn’t come here if it was the end of the world and this place was the only store with booze… oh wait, THEY DON’T HAVE BOOZE!
That’s right, this Big Lots doesn’t even carry alcohol. So what’s the draw? Believe me, I’ve asked. When I asked the lone staff member wandering the aisles, «Hey, do you know where the wine is?» She looked at me, absolutely flummoxed. After a half second of just gawking at me, she parroted back at me, «Whyness?»
That’s where I got my nickname, «Your Wineness». But I digress. This place needs to get its act together. Just because it’s in a «not so nice» area doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t have a decent place to shop.

Worst Big Lots EVER. Shameful!
