As an Enrolled Agent (EA), I’m a tax professional equal to that of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) but my specialties and expertise are particular to the tax industry.

History

Established in 2014.

Prior to the end of the 2014 tax season, I had been working as an Enrolled Agent, the highest rank among tax professionals, for the H&R Block corporation for over 10 years.

As the 2014 tax season came to a close I decided that I would be much happier working for myself. I left H&R Block and began my journey to establishing Bj’s Tax Service.

The main reason I started my own business was not for the benefit of myself. Rather, I wanted to be able to offer my clients a more pleasant, personalized, and accommodating tax experience. I cater to each of my clients on a case by case basis and arrange my time and services to meet their individual needs.

Business Owner

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, I come from a family of accountants. My father, a public accountant himself, began teaching me how to do bookkeeping when I was 12 years old. I learned how to file taxes by hand at the age of 15.

As a young adult I entered the work force as a bookkeeper/​accountant for the entertainment industry. I worked as an accountant and business manager for the entertainment industry from age 18 to 37. At 37 I took a leave of absence to focus my time and energy on raising my 3 children, but continued a small home based bookkeeping service on the side.

As my children became adults I rejoined the workforce with H&R Block in 2005.

I’ve accomplished many things in my life aside from the accounting. For the last 38 years my husband and I have been professional ballroom dance instructors. Also, I’m an accomplished artist having dabbled in many forms.
