You Should Be Dancing

We hired YSBD for our daughter’s bat mitzvah and cannot be more pleased with the job they did. Great communication, responsiveness, friendliness, adaptability. Mike was on everything quickly and competently. He gave clear information about our options and helped us make the decisions that made the party a success. Our party was at a hotel venue in Santa Barbara unfamiliar to YSBD. Mike and his crew did everything necessary to scope it out to ensure they were prepared. We had rain the entire day of the evening event; Mike and the crew were on it days ahead and came early to make sure they were ready to go. The kids LOVED emcee Jonathan and deejay Merav: Great energy and instincts; brilliant timing, song selections/​flow; gave the kids time and space, didn’t overwhelm them, fed off their energy. We’ve gotten lots of feedback from kids from other events and it’s clear Jonathan and Merav were totally in sync with each other and with the kids. We hired a female dancer through YSBD too (forgot her name — sorry!) but she was great too, for the same reasons. We also ordered some premium lighting from YSBD — uplighting; two towers; and a laser feature. They were totally worth it — just a great improvement to the room and the atmosphere. If we had to do it over again we wouldn’t change a thing.

Mike was great! He assisted me with booking my baby shower. The venue was perfect! Private open parking. Secure. Great lighting and lounge area. Clean bathroom. Recommend this place for any event bug or small!!!

Recently hosted my babyshower here. Loved it! The spacing was more personal and perfect for more private gatherings. Most venues carries hundreds of people for thousands of dollars but this was the only place in the valley I was able to find that was reasonably priced And accomodated all our needs. The event was family and close friends. There was a small dance floor and plenty of space to set up for food and desserts. They have a fridge for storage. They have music hook up whether or not you want a DJ or to set up your own playlist. Not to mention two extra small lounge rooms with sofas if you wanna step away a minute from the crowd. We didn’t have a party big enough to add on but I love the fact that you can also rent out the back space if you want to rent a food truck or any other extra entertainment and have an outside tent set up for an extended party of guests. The owners Mike and Claudia are amazing and accommodating. I definitely look forward to hosting future event here.

Let me start off by telling you the predicament we were in before we phoned Mike:
1. We had resrved a snazy venue in LA, but they called us to tell is that they were shut down to a gas leak
(72 hours before the party!!!)
2. All of the party rentals, entertainment and invitations were paid and set.
3. We had already allocated the remainder of our budget on other items for the party, so we were super tight on $$$
4. After weeks of planning we were borderline insane.
We phoned at least 30 venues and almost all of them were booked (I don’t blame them it was a Saturday Night) the ones that were not booked wanted major dough to pull off something at a short notice. We were litteraly about to pull the plug on my mothers birthday suprise when we found Mike on Unilocal.
Mike patiently listened to our situation and graciously said «John we can make it work out» those words never sounded sweeter coming from another man lol.
Mike went above and beyond to give my mother the perfect party. He was an amazing host. The venue is UHHHMAAAZZIING. It’s perfect for people who love to dance as much as my mother does. It has state of the art music and light equipment, it is super CLEAN, there’s plenty of parking and did I mention it already comes fully equipped?!
I can’t thank Mike enough for making this party happen. He went above and beyond. He even came after the party and helped us clean. Who does that?! Only a sincerely passionate customer service oriented person like Mike. This review is the least I could do.

The best place to host an intimate event with a BIG party feel! We had a Gatsby themed party of 50 guests and everyone loved the venue. The venue had two additional rooms for entertaining, one of which we used for the photo booth area and the other had a door so we stored our personal items and used as a quiet space for the baby. It also had a large bathroom with plenty of counter space for 3 ladies to do their hair! :) And an abundance of private parking. Mike the owner and his fiancé Claudia were AMAZING; top notch people. They went above and beyond to help us surprise my mother. Claudia was gracious enough to play our mock «dance instructor,» and Mike made a snazzy background slide for the event. Mike made planning a last minute event so easy for us, this venue had everything incorporated: tables, chairs, linens, lighting and wet bar. We couldn’t of asked for better people to do business with!

This place was AMAZING!!! I love the fact that I could add my «personal touch» to this cute venue! The space was PERFECT for my 3 daughters annual «cookie/​holiday» party! I love the fact that you couldn’t tell what it was from the outside. which left the element of surprise to our guest! When the kids entered the venue through the red, velvet beautiful curtains. smiles took over their face! I was able to set up the tables in chairs to my liking. Mike is an AMAZING biz owner! When calling around, looking for a venue to host our party people were VERY SHORT and kind of rude on the phone. Many people asked me to simply «go online and check out our rates and packages». Mike went OUT OF HIS WAY to let me know that he cared, and better yet took pride in his business! I remember saying to him during our first phone convo, «lets just book now! i don’t even have to see it!!! you are the only person ive spoken to that sounds heartfelt and human like myself!» lol. (we both laughed). THANKS AGAIN FOR THE AMAZING HOSPITALITY OF YOUR VENUE! The sound system. excellent! the space. perfect! it was clean! parking… lots!!! He also gave us the option of some add on services. the photographer STEVE was also AMAZING!!! He worked the party without interrupting the guest and was able to catch some AMAZING moments!!! The pictures of the kids when «santa» entered the room was priceless!!! I’m already thinking of my next party just so i can go back!!! YOU ROCK MIKE! !THANKS A MIL FOR EVERYTHING. SEE YA SOON!!!

This is a great place for a party! Accomodating staff, dance floor, strob lights, live dj, and much more. Cute, quaint, and loads of fun!!! Its a valley hidden gem! Thanks Miles girls for putting us up on game! Thanks Mike you were amazing!!!

Reseda’s little hidden secret. Tucked behind the scent of Arby’s piled-​high roast beef sandwiches, You Should Be Dancing is a place to party, drink, dance, flirt, and sing the night away. An unexpected delight, and incomparable to any other local venues. Go check it out!

I went to the Miles Girls Annual Cookie Decorating Holiday party at this location. It was a wonderful experience. This place is a hidden jewel and the staff was so nice. If looking for a party room look no further… this is the place. Dance floor, projector screen, disco ball, nice sound system and a stage area. And the entire party lived it. I look forward to many more events at this location.

Very accommodating for a moderately sized party, baby shower or mixer, in addition to ample parking.

I have to admit, I didn’t check out this place (Our Party Room) before booking it AND before the party. I just relied on the photos form the website and the Unilocal reviews. Happy to report that everything turned out PERFECT! It was for my daughter’s 10^th bday and she (and all our friends) loved the place! Mike was very easy to work with; responsive via email and phone. He helped me with vendors and gave me lots of ideas for the party. The photos from the website and here do not do the place justice. Everything is so much nicer in person :) Definitely an awesome party place!

YSBD, did my wedding in 2011. OMG my wedding, I must say, was a blast, thanks mostly to the DJ & MC. Since then, we have hired them back every year for my companies Christmas Parties. Everyone at work has an awesome time. YSBD makes it so memorable that employees encourage everyone to go, promising them a good time that they don’t want to miss. They tailored to our guests with every party. If you want a get them all on the dance floor kind of party, they handle it! The DJ has never just sat back behind the equipment & played. It’s interactive, but with class & style.

This place was perfect for my baby shower and affordable! Claudia and Mike were on top of it from the beginning and I couldn’t have asked for more. The guest tables, food table lighting, audio, baby’s sonogram on the projector were all ready to go once we arrived to decorate and Claudia was so helpful in assisting us with hanging paper lanterns. After rushing all morning and stressed, seeing our space put together so well made my day! All of my guests loved the fact that the space allowed us to be close and intimate; not too small, not too big! Although we did not have a DJ, my guests were excited that there was a DJ booth/​stage and were not afraid to use the microphone.

I cannot thank the staff enough because they were so helpful in making my husband’s 50^th birthday party a success. Mike, Claudia, and Pierre were so patient and helpful with me and all of my ideas. They had connections with all of the rentals I needed. This room has excellent potential of creating any scene for your party. Also, they made themselves available before my party to deal with all rentals that were being dropped off the day of. They were so friendly and patient. I would definitely use them again. All of my guests asked me where I found this place. I could not have done it without the wonderful staff to help eliminate some of the stress I would have experienced otherwise.

This place was awesome! We had my daughter’s Sweet Sixteen party there. The owner and staff were so great to work with from the beginning planning stages to after the party. Mike is very helpful in helping you plan and decorate. And the DJ that they arranged was also just perfect for what we needed. My daughter and her friends had so much fun! It was a pleasure and a huge success.

We had a party for my 10 year old there. She had an awesome time the MC Rory was terrific. We had to do all setting up and cleaning up but a good time was had by all! We did the red carpet entrance but carpet was dirty dance floor a little dirty too but i guess I’m just picky like that but that didn’t take away from everyone having fun! i def recommend this place for a tweens birthday party!!!
