I’ve never had bad service or a bad mani/​pedi. Very clean and nice staff. My favorite nail salon!

This place is called Elysium — not Hunter Woods Nail & Spa. I went this past week because it is within walking distance of my house + the reviews were mixed. I got the impression that this place is often over looked!
I went for a mani/​pedi ($ 45) with regular nail polish — no gel. The service was fantastic. They use the paraffin wax which was a nice surprise! I used to live in DC and did not receive that treatment at that price.
This is going to be my go to spot. If you are also skeptical — please go and check it out! Everything was clean (they took out the nail tools in front of me), professional, and were able to handle me as a walk-​in.

I guess I cannot say that I am an expert when it comes to nail salons, but I saw a lot of negative reviews here and felt like I had to share my good experience.
It’s my birthday, so my friend and I went to get our first mani pedis. We were greeted in a friendly manner, and started our appointment exactly on time. I felt like the ladies were very professional in our treatment. I was very happy with the whole process as well as the end result. My feet have never looked so good!
Place was clean, prices seemed good to me based off places I have researched on the internet, $ 45 for each mani pedi and my friend got his eyebrows waxed for $ 10. Will definitely come again.

I think their name is now Elysium. I wanted to like this place. It was clean and their tools were pulled from pre packaged tools for each client. I went in for a gel manicure. It was rushed, I don’t think he even worked my cuticles, and the painting was sloppy (made him clean it up). At one point my nail split at the corner after being cut and he didn’t even notice. I felt bad because he was such a nice guy. Other clients got offered drinks from the soda/​water fridge, and well, my manicurist was speeding through things. So it’s not as great as some other places, but I’d be willing to go back for another try… maybe.

Not a good experience here. I was not a walk in, I had an appointment. The tech who did my manicure was very unfriendly — she did not smile and introduce herself, nor did she even ask «how are you today», which is kind of basic customer service. She made me feel as though I was not welcome. I was not offered a beverage even though I saw they had a little fridge fully stocked with soda and water. The «hand massage» lasted roughly 20 seconds. On the plus side, she at least didn’t cause my cuticles to bleed which has been a problem for me at other salons. This appears to be one of those places where the techs congregate with each other and are not very attentive to customers. Maybe if I’d had a different tech the experience would have been better.

Love this place! When you walk in you just know your going to get a good service. They are very clean! They offer drinks which most places don’t do and every person in their takes their time and does a job we’ll done. I see Kandy every time I go and she does exactly what I want. Def recommend this place!

I’ve been going to this salon for quite a while. I see Kandi and have nothing but FABULOUS things to say. Their shop is immaculate. I go for gel fills, pedicures, eyebrow waxes and eyelash extensions. Regardless of the service, I am always beyond satisfied with the outcome. I do not consider Kandi a nail tech. Rather, a stylist with a true artistic sense. I frequently ask for designs that most nail techs in the DC metro area could not do (trust me — I’ve searched high and low) and not only can Kandi do what I want, she exceeds my expectations. The painstaking handwork is EXQUISITE! I LOVE this place. Do me a favor please… tip accordingly. I’ve seen too many women come into this place and get beautiful work done and leave bare minimum tips. It’s shameful. They deserve better. Customer service is top notch by the way. For you other reviewers who had snarky comments to make related to race and language, shame on you!

In the many years I’ve had my nails done, this salon is the best, hands down. I’ve been coming here for a few years and my manicurist is Kandy. She does impeccable work and gives wonderful pedis. My husband sees Diane for pedis, and she’s the ONLY one who can get his ingrown toenails out. I’ve been to nail salons in many cities, and this is simply the best. All the girls are sweet and the salon is clean. Instruments are autoclaved and pedi tubs are always disinfected. I have no complaints about this salon.

The best mani pedi I’ve had in years!!! I went with a friend and we both got the spas pedicure for $ 52 and the shellac manicure for $ 32. I have never spent that much on these services but I felt like it was worth it. The pedicure massage was very good. I had Tina and she took her time. Granted they were not busy as it was the end of the day. They were very friendly and attentive. The refreshments are a nice touch. The shellac manicure looks perfect! Tina is a perfectionist and had everything looking great. No smudges, no bad cuticle
Spots and the Polish was perfect. It’s rare that I leave a salon and not want to fix something when I get home.
I will definitely be returning! :)

Hunters Woods Nails and Spa have a variety of services such as massages, manicures as well as waxing.
Its been a while since I had a mani/​pedi and since I had time to kill, I also did a shelac french manicure… AND I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH SHELAC!!!
Its been almost a week now and even though I went river rafting two days after the mani, it has yet to crack or chip. YAY!
To add cherry to the ice cream, the lady who did my nails also charged me the price of mani/​pedi without tip. I don’t know if she was being nice since she knew I was a student from out of town or that she really liked my company or that she wanted to get out of there because it was almost-​near closing time but I AM REALLY HAPPY WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE! Although english is the second language for the majority of the ladies here, they are not shy and will converse with you as much as possible.
This place, in my humble opinion, is very friendly, clean, and reliable.

Do not go here! I have no nails now. This is the worst manicure I’ve ever had. I went on Saturday to get a mani-​pedi and have my tips removed. Instead of soaking off the gels John used a fake nail to rip them off. Half my nails came off with the old ones and they have since broken all the way down. They were not shaped and the ends are very rough. My whole nail wasn’t even painted and the polish is very bumpy and uneven. I really regret not walking out. Especially considering it cost me $ 47.00!

This is a clean and convenient shop with great hours. They are located in the Hunters Woods shopping center with plenty of free parking available. I have never made an appointment, I simply walk in and get my nails done.

I have tried Hunter Woods Nails and SPA not long ago for a pedicure. The place is at a nice, convenient location, always free parking. Safeway is located the same area.
The salon is clean, staff is friendly. They have awesome massaging chairs to sit in while the ladies work on your feet. Reasonable prices.
I had 2 things that I did not like:
1. They lady working on my feet was constantly chit-​chatting with her coworker while he did my feet on their own language which I did not understand. Then they kept looking at me, obviously felt like they were talking about me. It made me feel uncomfortable and thought was rude.
2. When she finished putting on the color on my toes, she used her own finger nails to wipe off excess polish. Other places use a cotton swab on stick or a fine brush.

Such a disappointment. I came here to have my nails done along with 2 friends the day before my wedding. I had a pedicure and a French tip manicure, and was unhappy with both experiences. The woman that did the pedicure spent more time talking to her co-​worker or texting on her phone than she did paying attention to my pedicure.
When I went to get my nails done, the gentlemen who did them didn’t wear gloves and had red stuff under his finger nail that looked like blood. When I asked if it was blood, because I’d want him to wash his hands/​put on gloves (I’m a little OCD), he just laughed and ignored my question. It took me pulling my hands away and demanding an answer for him to show me that it wasn’t actually blood. Could have saved us all the hassle and just answered the question in the first place. The nails looked horrible — the white tips were way too big compared to the rest of the nail.
In addition, they kept asking if I wanted my eyebrows waxed — umm, no. Didn’t ask for it in the first place, and found it rather rude/​insulting that they would keep asking.
Have not returned since this experience and have no plans to go back. Obviously, customer service and basic manners is something this place needs to work on.

I just walked out of this nail salon. My friend and I had a 10am appointment, they sat us down and started the water at 10:25pm. A minute later the water started overflowing without me realizing it. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t know I was Vietnamese and came back and said in Vietnamese that these girls turned the water back on and is flooding the place, which was not true.
I held my tongue to see if they would say anything else. They called my girlfriend rude for taking the magazine from the seat and that’s when we both got up and walked out.
They tried stopping us but at that point, I didn’t want to stay and hear them talk about us more. I left by letting them know that I understood everything they said and didn’t appreciate what they said about us.
Ladies, when they talk in a different language and giggle, it’s true. Most likely they are talking about you.

I got on here the other day to write a review and was surprised by the negative reviews. So I held off, thinking I haven’t had enough experience with the place yet to write one. But, I just had to go back today and have decided they definitely have me as a customer.
I went there a couple months ago for a pedicure with a girlfriend. They did a good job. My sister said the gems on the design on my big toe would fall off that day. I seriously think they didn’t fall off for 2 months. $ 30 is the base cost, so pretty average for the area.
I just went this past Saturday to get a fill on acrylic nails. I originally got them done in Delaware for my sister’s wedding, and they were looking pretty busted by the time I went for the fill. She did an awesome job. When I left there they looked better than the first go round. She was very meticulous about getting the bottoms close to your actual nail so they don’t look like crap when they start to grow out. And she is very concerned about burning your nail, which is nice.
Then one of the tips broke off Monday night. Obviously not her fault, since she didn’t do the initial job, only the fill. But I just went in on my (Tuesday) lunch break and she put a new one on… FOR FREE. I expected to at least pay $ 5. She is the acrylic nail guru. And it seems like if you make an appointment for fake nails, she’s who you get. Awesome job!

Nails and spa used to be a great place to go for some pampering, not so much anymore. Since this such a long post, to sum it up I’ll just say just avoid it if you want good service, but definitely go there if you want an infection in your toe and want to pay for a mani that you have to redo yourself.
I was just there yesterday and was so disappointed. The spa pedicure used to be an hour long. Now it is 45 timed minutes at a higher price. It is supposed to include a 20 minute foot and calf massage. The past few times, though, I felt lucky when I received 15 minutes and instead of getting a massage it is more like 10 minutes of rubbing lotion into your skin with no pressure whatsoever.
Ditto on the forearm and hand massage — rubbing lotion in does not equal a massage. Before filing nails, it would be nice if the customer was asked if they would prefer round or square instead of the technician picking for the person who is paying for the service. My nails were one so horribly today that the bubbles in the paint are bad enough even my husband noticed. I really thought that when the technician rubbed the lid against my just painted nail that she would fix it for real. Instead she just put more topcoat on creating ridges.
Stop asking people if they want their eyebrows done! It’s rude and you have watched me look at your menu, so it’s pretty safe to say that I know that it is n option. I finally left you do it today because I have a wedding to go to this weekend. Not only are they uneven, but nothing was put on them to take out the sting, and my eyebrows are still red over a day later, which has never happened at any other place I have had them done.
Perhaps the worst thing about the experience though was when the technician was trimming the cuticles on my big toe. I am not sure what she did, but it felt like she was digging in to the toenail part under my skin on the right side and it hurt so badly I let out an audible ouch. Now, my toe is red and so sore that nothing, not even the hotel bedspread, can touch it without pain and discomfort. I have had enough manicures and pedicures to know that neither her over zealousness in trimming the cuticles and nails and the pain is not normal. Any advice on what the hell is wrong with it and how to calm it down would be appreciated because this sucker hurts.
I used to come here because I felt so relaxed and pampered at a great price, so I have kept going hoping that the bad experiences were just a fluke. I give up and honestly, even though I used to rave about this place to people, I don’t think it even deserves one star anymore. Now please excuse me while I go repaint my nails and try to calm down the possible infection in my toe.

One of my real estate clients bought me a gift certificate to this place for my birthday. Three months later I finally got around to using it. This was my first time here and I had one of the best pedicures I’ve ever had — from a male — also a first.
My feet feel great and are oh so pretty!

Okay, I had to come back and edit my review. My first time at Hunter’s was a great experience. However, I wish I could say the same for the second time around. The salon itself is very clean and welcoming. And the staff is very friendly and helpful. Last time I was there Alex (one of the owners I believe) did my nails and he was meticulous, took his time and over all did a great job. This time I had Kim. She was very sweet and friendly but I felt rushed and felt like she kept trying to push me to do the shellac and also was trying to get me to buy these new fake designer hair clips.
The main reason I will probably not go back was because I was charged two different prices for the same service. Last time I did the mani and pedi, Alex charged $ 50-​$ 30 for Shellac manicure, and reg. pedicure, which I was happy to pay for as I was satisfied with the end result. This time Kim charged me $ 60– $ 30 for the shellac manicure and $ 30 for the pedicure. Not sure if they just recently upped the price from my last visit, but I wouldn’t pay $ 60 again for the end result– she did a sloppy job with my cuticles, didn’t even bother to remove little spots of my old nail polish, and filed my nails unevenly. I should have complained but I figured the best option is to just continue my search for another salon and spend my money elsewhere. I really wish this place could have been my go to.
