Update August 28 2015 — tvs on stair masters still don’t work. I’ve paid this place thousands of dollars in two years and after asking for 2 years they’re still broken. Shame on you lifetime. It’s obvious you don’t really care about your clients.
Update June 3, 2016. Now the tvs don’t even come on. Really? Wish there was a good competitor gym but there isn’t. :(#lifetimedoesntcare

Very bad management and rude people …
Dirty pools and a million rules …
Rude life guards .
Kind of fit people who think they are better than their very customers …
Dirty lockers and showers and blaming it on lack of staff .
And when you quit they keep charging you for their lack of service …

Not worth the hassle or the money.
My 3^rd month at the gym I had cash (over $ 1,000) stolen out of my locker (which was 100% locked). The employee who was on staff that morning some how «quit» the same day and my issue was wiped under the rug. I filed a report that day but then heard nothing for weeks. They even took the theft sign DOWN!(would hate to not make members aware of the THEFT during prime new member season) After calling and having them put it back up, I was passed off to corporate.
The GM Georges didn’t even call or talk to me until i tracked him down after 2 weeks after the THEFT. He just sat me down and said «we don’t deal with that here but your like the 4^th issue in the last couple months». I guess I was just an issue to them. After a week plus of phone tag with corporate I finally tracked down the person in charge her first response was, «THE GYM IS NOT AT FAULT». No sympathy that myself or my kids Christmas money was stolen out of my locker. She was just upset that she had to take time out of her day to talk to me. They gave me 2 free months and that was it.
When I went back to Reston Georges ensured me the process had changed, which I put to test. IT HAD NOT changed and I got someone to unlock my locked without checking name or personal belongings before opening. I address this with him again and he just said he would be on top of it. He made sure to remind me that valuables shouldn’t be left in the locker. For my 2 free months I had to leave my wedding ring, watch, cash, credit cards, and even my new shoes in my car to make sure they were not stolen.
All this on top of a Men’s Locker room that NEVER has toilet paper and the showers and steam room smell funky all day. FOR OVER $ 100 PER MONTH I EXPECT BETTER HYGIENE AND WAY MORE CLASS.
Yoga classes were great but that’s where the positives stop.

Spa —
I just went to the spa today for an express pedicure. Lan was my technician and she was fantastic. When you select one of the colors in a small bottle they give you the rest of it which I’ve never had happen anywhere I’ve been before. The price was also very comparable if not better from stand alone nail salons but the atmosphere really sets it apart. This will be my go to place now.
They also have great masseuses, my husband and I both have been to Maria multiple times for 60 minute deep tissue. She’s an expert and really pays attention to the areas that need work the most.
Gym —
I’m also a member at Lifetime and have been consistently going to the Reston club for about 3 years now. The facility is great, the outdoor pool in the summer makes you feel like you’re at a golf club instead of a gym and all the other amenities are so nice to have. I love that the yoga studio has it’s own dedicated (large) space. The instructors are fantastic. Susan’s Yin class is my all time favorite and Melissa’s classes are challenging but she’s very motivating.
As others have said… with all the positives comes a price tag. But if you go regularly, I absolutely think you get your money’s worth.

Second time to this gym and someone rudely asks me in the family changing room to find another locker when I answered he got in my face to say he wanted to «drop me» and management just wanted to get statements??? Nonetheless furious and dropped my membership never had this happen at Gold’s!

I spoke with Adrienne the manager today and she was very kind and understanding. She did a full refund and offered a couple of complimentary services at LifeSpa. I appreciate her listening and being kind to me. It definitely helped lift my down spirits up a bit.

Ongoing theft from men’s locker room. Canceling my membership. Whomever it is, is getting into locked lockers… I had items stolen from me. Be wary. Terrible lockers.

I’m at the gym nearly every morning before work. On weekdays, the male locker room is spotless. Full towels, full soap bottles in the shower, and no trash anywhere. I believe the man who maintains the locker room those days is named Marvin.
On the weekend the lock room is a mess. Hair, spit, and used towels in the sauna and steam room. Empty soap bottles in the showers, no towels, and trash on the floors. It’s like a totally different gym.

Seems Marvin is gone. The locker room is always a mess now.

The premier gym of the area… with the equivalent price tag.
I’ve done the $ 10 gyms, the mid-​range Gold’s Gym places, and this boutique of a gym. I have a family now, and I can’t imagine taking them anywhere but here.
The level of service and cleanliness separate LifeTime. What keeps them alone at the top is what no one else has– a children’s program that can’t be beat. They hire certified people. As an example, my kid’s Montessori teacher used to work here. The children’s area has an entire program of its own, gymnastics area with instructors, jungle gym, arts and crafts studio, ~20 iMacs, separate play area for toddlers… very well thought-​out. I mean, they hold quarterly Parents Night Out events on Saturday night so you can leave the kids to play while you enjoy dinner.
Yes, LifeTime is huge. The locker rooms are cool and spacious. There are 3 pools and 2 jacuzzis. There are two full basketball courts.
You see, in my opinion, it’s easy to build more and more. It’s very, very difficult to create a quality kids program that is head and shoulders above the competition.
$ 221/​month well spent… if I can get myself there, of course.

Best fitness club ever. Plenty of machines. Well conditioned atmosphere. Pleasant staff.

I have been to almost all Life Time locations in NOVA, but I must say Life Time Reston is undoubtedly the largest and best location among others. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They have everything for a well-​rounded work out including, two basketball courts, indoor rock climbing, sauna, hot tub, steam room, swimming pool, and some open space for your daily exercises. Although I’m not living in NOVA anymore, I cannot wait to come back home to spend my whole day here!
Also make sure you try some of their tasty smoothies!
Life Time Reston is a heaven on the Earth, fairly pricey, but definitely worth the money!

The only problem with this place is that they don’t come to my house and DRAG me to the gym more often.
Seriously, the one in Reston is THE BEST. My fiancé and I have a membership (he added me) and during triathlon training, the pool and spinning classes are the best. In the summer, their massive outdoor pool is a swimmer’s dream.
I live 30 minutes away now from the Reston location and if I lived closer, I would take advantage of their incredible classes. The staff is so courteous and friendly, especially when my locker won’t open and I need their assistance.
My one and ONLY recommendation: I wish they would be more eco-​friendly in the bathrooms and have blowers for drying your hands instead of all the paper towels. That’s it.

Fun gym… impossible to quit… has unauthorized charged me over $ 2k.
I liked this gym when i first joined. The guest policy used to be lovely for our family. However, they decided to stop accepting nannies taking children to activities as «acceptable». So I’ve tried to cancel at Reston and at the corporate office. We left the area, and for every two weeks I’ve called either corporate or the Reston office following up. No such luck. I cancelled my credit card, disputed charges, and they continued to charge me $ 150 for a service that I haven’t even used in nearly two years. They told me at the corporate office that I could come to MINNESOTA and sign paperwork to repeal it.
Thieves.

I worked out here a few times, and thank God I was «grandfathered in» or whatever they call it and only pay $ 80 a month. Apparently there are poor saps out there that pay over $ 100 to work out here.
The equipment is meh, typically broken down and takes forever to repair just like the one in Dulles and Centreville. Machinery really not new or impressive.
A very average gym with a very high price, not befitting of what you get.
Worst of all, this place charges $ 30 for a guest! I’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on LifeTime over the past 4 years and their ass-​backwards business model now decides to charge me for bringing a guest to the pool?
Instantaneous 1 star. Sure there’s nice staff, the café is nice, but if you’re going to money-​grub that bad, you deserve 1 star for being so stupid.
Meanwhile I will search for a new gym to go to, I really can’t give this chain money any more.

Fantastic gym. I’m not sure how this gym could be anything less than 5 star. It has everything: Pilates, yoga, free weights, machines, indoor/​outdoor pools, group classes, amazing trainers, tons of cardio machines, etc. I love love love the Children’s Area best– great caretakers and my kids have a blast. I never feel guilty about working out and leaving my kids there. Great camps — and birthday parties– for kids as well. Plus it introduces them to a lifestyle of healthy living and exercise.
Did I mention the incredible indoor rock climbing? The only downside is the cost. These incredible facilities are not cheap. But for me and my family, this is our splurge and we love it.

Has everything! I feel like I’m on vacation when I’m at the pool. The price is way too high though. I also wish they had some normal treadmills instead of the high-​tech ones. they are better for your knees but feel like you’re running on sand.

I love this gym. I was able to try it on a free guest pass. The reason I am not joining is the fact I live and go to school in Vienna and Tyson corner area. Traffic makes it hard to get to. If I didn’t have that to worry about it I would join in a heart beat.
The showers are decent with free towels and personal hygiene products. This was nice so you don’t have to lug all your crap to the gym except a change of clothes for later at a minimum.
I tried their yoga classes here and it was decent. I wish the instructors would correct form but not sure if that is a lifetime policy or something that they can’t

I would like to recognize Maureen Dorman for an excellent customer service experience. We had a meeting to discuss canceling my membership. She was so helpful and informative. She was very understanding and made me feel comfortable with my decision. She explained my alternative options that will work within my budget. I was so impressed. I walked out of the meeting feeling great instead of feeling ashamed or embarrassed. I will now be a customer for life. This is a great example of how to turn a negative situation into a positive one.
She was so knowledgable about all the different services that are available to lifetime members that I never knew about.

Came here as a guest of a friend and wow this place is huge. Definitely a fitness club kind of place.
We did their yoga class and the instructor Diane? Diana? She was ok. I’ve taken quite a few yoga classes and usually they’re pretty challenging and fun. Her class was pretty boring…
They have a nice restaurant inside with healthy foods/​snacks/​drinks. Don’t get the emerald smoothie, tastes like chalk. I should have asked them to hold the protein powder. The egg white omelette was very good though.
