I do believe I’ll be shopping elsewhere for glass frames and lenses in the future. The front line staff, which depicts the culture of the business is rude, short and extremely unwelcoming. I had reservations about getting my work done here, but proceeded anyway.
The doctors are stand offish and prefer as limited customer contact as possible.
When I went to pick up my glasses they told me they didn’t have a case for me! What??? Seems like a really small thing when this is the merchandise in which you deal. The poorest attitudes I’ve ever seen. If I didn’t know better I’d think they were trying to turn business away!!!

I’ve always had positive experiences with everyone at this office. I have not had any issues with my exam, prescription, or replacement lenses under warranty.

I had my yearly appointment with Dr. Sylvia Briceno. I have been seeing her for several years. She is very thorough and pleasant. The office is nicely appointed and the staff is efficient and friendly. They have a good selection of frames in different price ranges. They seem to have the newest equipment, including a machine which can in most cases take the place of dilating the eyes. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for an eye doctor in the Reston-​Herndon area.

I’ve been a patient here for quite a few years and have always had a great experience with both annual eye exams and a random eye infection, where they worked me into the schedule immediately. Their technology and machines are modern, and exams are thorough. One pet peeve is that they ask patients to arrive 15 minutes early for «pre-​exam» stuff, but then I usually end up sitting in the waiting area for that time and going back at the scheduled appointment. Odd, but no biggie and I probably should just wait until my appointment time to show up anyway. Overall a great practice – recommend!

I am surprised by the amount of high-​reviews for this optometry office. Without getting too much into detail on my experience, I have worked with more than one doctor here and have found them to be impatient and a little bit rude, the customer service lacking, and the prices high. Will certainly be looking elsewhere for my next eye exam.

I went to this practice for many years, but after receiving poor treatment from the doctor I’d seen for years, decided it was time for me to move on. To make matters worse, I have just received a bill from October of 2013 and a nasty gram telling me it needs to get paid ASAP, when this is the very first bill I have received! I am so over this practice. Glad I made the decision more than a year ago to move on.

Okay they fixed the situation for me temporarily but it was also time for new glasses and a doctor’s appt. Happy they are helping me to get updated glasses, but annoyed as well… hoping to get the final glasses by Friday

Excellent care! Easy to access, friendly, knowledgeable staff, from beginning to end. Would not go anywhere else and would recommend NVCO and Dr. Hope Snively to anyone!

I picked this location because they had the sports glasses I was interested in. I called in to inquire about these and in turn made an appointment with their sports vision specialist, Dr. Smithson. My appointment with Dr. Smithson was very informative and I learned about my current vision and needs. I was very pleased with my appointment and i was also referred to come back when the vendor will be in the store with more choices for me. I came back to meet with the vendor and was able to choose what i needed. With that, i am saving the best for last. During my appointment with the vendor we were assisted by Brian Quinn who helped me through this transaction as well as my choices and the most important part the cost of how much different options will be. Brian was very patient and answered many of my questions that regarded what i needed most. We sat with the vendor and Brian asked all the pertinent questions with the frames, the lenses, the colors and the cost. Brian was very aware of what was really important to my visit and what i wanted to accomplish. In the end i was very happy with my purchase. Without Brian I do not think this experience would have been worth my time and money. Thank you Brian and Dr. Smithson, i will definitely see you again soon.

Very good services and testing. Great selection of frames — a bit pricey but not unusual for a retail business.

I have a patient here for over two years and am very happy there. They have great hours which helps me as a working mom. I hardly ever have to wait, and everyone is friendly and professional. Dr. Sparrenberger is a great doctor and very friendly and fun to be around.
I am thinking of switching from 2-​week contact lenses to dailies and he gave me 10 days worth to try them out so I can make an informed decision. I appreciated the professionalism. I definitely recommend this practice!

I have been a patient of Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry for over 10 years — first at the Loehmann’s Plaza location in Falls Church and more recently in Reston. I have had nothing but good experiences with the doctors, in particular Dr. Snively and Dr. Sparrenberger. And the optical professionals that help fit and pick-​out the eyeglass frames are top notch, too.

My eye problem is complex and improving thanks to Dr. Smithson. I was struck at my last appointment how excited he was with my progress, his compassion for his patients is amazing. He is the only doctors in the DC, northern VA and Baltimore who was willing to try and help me. The staff is very kind and very accommodating and I have never waited long in the waiting area and have been able to make appointments easily.

Dr. Robert Sparrenberger and the entire team at Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry are absolutely fantastic. The entire team is comprised of profossionals who treat patients with respect and like you are part of their extended family. As long as I live in the Reston area, Dr. Sparrenberger will be our family’s choice for eye care.

I have seen Dr. Snively here for about 6 years and highly recommend her and the office. I have extremely dry eyes and have never had trouble getting in to see her when I need to. The quality of care is incredible.
The office staff are professional, organized, and knowledgeable. There is a great selection of eyewear in different price ranges. Insurance coverage is never an issue, they make sure you and they know what your coverage is for visits and for eyewear, so there are no surprises. They have a large selection of goggles and athletic eyewear that can be fitted with lenses as well, great for a family whose children are into sports but not wearing contacts. We have insurance so our glasses are made at an outside lab, but they always make sure we know when they are delayed and when they have arrived.

I saw Dr. Giles for my exam. She was courteous and professional, and the exam was quick and easy.
I came back the next day to pick out glasses, and the optician listened to what I was looking for and provided good recommendations for me. He also compared the price using my two insurance plans so I could maximize my benefits. They had a wide selection of frames including designer brands and less expensive options.

Thieves! Avoid! $ 640 for eyecare!!!

My initial encounter with Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry was positive. Dr. Briceno was very pleasant and thorough. Jim, the sales guy, seemed friendly as well as the other staff. However, it’s been 3 weeks and I am still waiting for my new glasses. The only thing I’ve gotten are excuses. I was also told that my second pair could not be made as ordered (that would have been nice to know earlier). I have never received any calls to update me on the status. I also have not heard from Ashley, the manager, even after requesting to speak with her.
I understand that things happen sometimes. It’s how people react when they do that I judge, and I’m definitely not feeling the love after spending $ 2k at their store. Needless to say, my impressions have changed. I have experienced better elsewhere.

Prompt and friendly. Tests were thorough and very well explained. All my questions were answered clearly by the doctor. Overall great service and clean.

First time needing to consult an eye doctor. I wanted to reduce glare from looking at a PC for hours a day. I called, made an appointment. Everything was easy and everyone was really friendly. The Doctor I met with, Dr. Smithson, was awesome, he was easy to understand and connect with. Two weeks later I had glasses. HUGE difference. I recommend them to anyone in the area.
