Here is the thing, going to the dentist is hard enough but when you’re going for oral surgery can be a straight up ordeal. I was so nervous about getting all four of my wisdom teeth extracted that I almost bolted from the chair 3 separate times. I barely met the doctor before we got started and after, Dr. Patterson left me with no information about what to expect. By day 5 I was just about dying of pain. The nurses asked that I come in for my follow up right away. After waiting about 40 minutes, I was finally called back only to receive 5 minutes. Dr. Patterson, didn’t give me anytime to ask questions, explain what the pain was, rinse the food out from my extraction holes or again, explain what I need to do to for pain management. In fact, he only said 2 things to me.
1. I have the largest tonsils in Fairfax, which would have been kind of funny, if they weren’t actually swollen and one of my sources of pain.
2. It would be unreasonable to think you wouldn’t be in pain, which was unbelievably insensitive.
I left quite in shock with how horrible this doctor was. The nurse however did give me a syringe as I was leaving. She said it was to flush out the food from my extraction sites. Again, I am not a dentist, I had no idea what to expect and wasn’t informed at any point during my time at this office. I didn’t know that I had holes in my gums — or the fact that that was normal, what should/​should not come out of the holes or how to tell if you got everything out of the extracted sites.
Long story short: Dr. Patterson is a terrible doctor and if you are interested in a quick/​healthy recovery, I would not recommend him.

I was referred to Dr. Patterson by my Dentist and I am sooo happy for that referral. I had to get two wisdom teeth pulled and I was scared to death. Well the office was nice and the staff was very nice. Dr. Patterson even called in the evening to see how I was doing. He made me feel so comfortable when I went in feeling extremely uncomfortable. 2 thumbs up to Dr. Patterson and his staff! I accidentally listed this review on a different surgeon. I love this surgeon!
