Salon Nordine & Day Spa

I couldn’t recommend Salon Nordine more. I’ve been seeing Alicia for six years and she is the only person I trust with my hair. She is a genius with curly-​thick hair and I always leave the salon with a wonderfully versatile haircut that allows me to embrace straight or curly styles. Also, Alicia specializes in color and it shows! Whether I want to lighten up or go darker, I can trust Alicia to give me a beautiful color that suits my skin tone perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with my hair and the level of service Alicia provides!

I’ve been to the Merrifield location for manicures, pedicures, and facials and had a really great experience. So when my mom, mother-​in-​law, and grandmother were looking for places to get their hair and makeup done for my wedding, it seemed natural to pick the Salon Nordine in Reston since we were staying in the area. While the end result looked good, I was dismayed that both my mother and my mother-​in-​law had to redo their hair when we got back to the hotel. My mother’s hair wasn’t that bad (she had a pretty major blow-​out that made her look like from the 80s that she had to tame) but my mother-​in-​law has very recognizable curly hair and even had a picture of what her own hair stylist had done. But whoever was doing her hair wanted her to have a blowout and kept on pressuring my mother-​in-​law to the point where she resigned herself to just getting it done and redoing it later. While it looked okay, it wasn’t what she wanted and no one would have recognized her if she hadn’t redone it at the hotel. It’s already a stressful day and we shouldn’t have had to feel pressured into something different from what we wanted. In the end everyone looked fine, but my mother and mother-in-law’s experience here just added unnecessary stress for everyone. I don’t know if it’s a difference between the locations or the services provided, but I’ll definitely be sticking with the Merrifield location.

Alicia is one of the best stylists I’ve ever had. :-). And the Salon Nordine staff is wonderful!

Terrible customer service! Owner never around. I have a complaint and for over a month I have tried to reach the owner in person and by phone. Each time I am promised by a less than friendly receptionist she will have him call me. He has never called. There is no manager on site to talk to. I now go to a salon where several of the stylists left this salon to start their own because the Salon Nordine owner was so hard to work for. Now I understand why.

Irina helped me out in a pinch by giving me an amazing hair cut. Irina, you just gained a new client!

Not impressed at all. The only thing worth the money was the girl who washed my hair and gave a wonderful head/​shoulder massage. The stylist rushed me through. She didn’t even know she was cutting my hair. Thought it was a blow out even though I made the cut appt 4 hours earlier. She had another client and made the assistant help dry my hair to get me out quicker. The cut is terrible and I tried to ask for layers and a bit shorter three times. She made 4 cuts with thinning sheers, which did not make cut layers for shoulder length hair. It just sticks out and the ends look frayed. The desk checked me out while on the phone and barely acknowledged me.

Sahar and team Salon Nordine Reston were life savers and are seriously the best staff ever! I have finally found my hair stylist and my new home salon!
I came in with a terribly done «balayage» hair style from another salon. Sahar listened to my concern of my dark roots (I’ve always been a blonde) and explained what her next steps were. Once we both agreed on a plan and after showing her some photos of what I was thinking — she went right to work– getting me blonde again :-) She knew exactly what she was doing and explained everything to me every step of the way.
My appointment ran over closing time and the staff never once rushed me out. Instead both Sarhar and the staff remaining made me feel at home and we chatted away. I seriously cannot thank the talented Sahar and the staff enough. Sarhar is very talented, super sweet, funny and genuinely takes an interest in you! This place is a breathe of fresh air with down to earth people, that truly care about you! I cannot stop taking photos of my hair, I am so happy with the way it turned out! I am so excited for my next appointment haha :) Highly Recommended!

This is the second salon I followed my wonderful stylist Alicia to, and I’m so happy I did. It is a clean, comfortable, convenient haven where I feel ultra pampered while getting beautiful. I can only review the hair services, because I have not yet taken advantage of all the incredible things they offer here. I had a tour of the day spa «palace» downstairs on my first visit, and it looks like you can very happily spend a whole afternoon getting primped for any special occasion, with waxing, massage, manicure, pedicure, and professional makeup application. But let’s back to the hair. As other reviews have said, Alicia is a warm, welcoming person, a true professional, and an artist you can trust. I have been her client and friend for many years now, and she has always taken the time to get to know you and what’s going on in your life, get a feel for your style and what you want to project, and above all, will do what is best for the health of your hair and scalp. Ask her about the artificial sweetener. I had color and highlights done on Saturday and my hair has never looked or felt healthier… so soft and shiny. I usually take a selfie as soon as she’s done bc I like to immortalize the results on Facebook :) If you’re in a rut and need a change, Alicia will help you with that, too. She is versatile and wants nothing more than to see you happy. The other parts of the salon experience that I enjoy so much are the complimentary wine (or water or coffee or tea), the wifi, and the heavenly massage chairs in the shampoo area. The shampoo staff is always lovely, too. They use intoxicating potions and, while your body is getting its full-​on massage from the shampoo chair, your scalp will get one too. It is so soothing. The only reason this salon does not get 5 stars from me is that the front desk staff does not rise to the level of the other employees. They have never rolled out the red carpet, so to speak. They have improved from cold and unfriendly, to lukewarm, but they do not match the outgoing nature of most salons in this price range. There are many, many salons to choose from, and people will go where they enjoy hanging out. There’s room for improving the tone that’s set when the client walks in the door. Otherwise, a great experience.

I went to this place to see Alicia.(recommended by a friend) Never met her, never been to the area before, I was new to everything.
Located in Reston Town Center, these are the things I love the most:
— free parking right across from the salon
— the place is super clean and very «fancy»
— customer service is great! Made me feel at home. Well except for the girl who greeted me :(I told her it was my first time and her facial expression was like «ooook» I think I was expecting a more warmer welcome. Anyways she was gone by the time I left.
I waited for Alicia, she walked towards me and she had this big smile as if she was waiting for her long time friend. We walked to the station together she offered me water and wine. I declined but later On I was sipping some great white wine.
Alicia was very friendly, I did not feel rush at all. She talked to me about my hair, the looks like could look on me and she show me pics which I really like. e
Even the ladies who wash hair were nice and friendly. I was given cappuccino by one of them.
Alicia is a sweetheart, she did a great job with my highlights and the undercut. I LOVE IT!!!
I told her I am about to turn 30 (next month) and hope to be back for a spa day. If I had an amazing time doing my hair I wonder how spa day would be.

Today is my birthday so I decided to treat myself to a day at a spa. After reading g reviews, I decided to schedule an appointment at Salon Nordine in Reston. Inhale no idea there was a down stairs, which is the spa area. It’s so pretty and serene down there! I loved the Moroccan décor!
Nasrin gave me an amazing facial and my very first mud wrap! When she told me to relax after my face mask, I passed out!
Ailynn was my massage therapist and she nearly made me drool! She took the time after my appointment to go over my tension areas and made future massage suggestions.
After my appointments, I felt like I was floating!
As I was walking into the resting area, a nice gentleman rearranging the area rugs, asked me how I liked my facial, which was my last session. I told him everything I had today was amazing! He then introduced himself, and he was THE Nordine, the owner! He sat with me and asked me what I had done, and I told him I was spoiling myself for my bday :-)
He said happy birthday, asked me if I wanted a glass of wine and something to eat. 2 minutes later, I get a glass of chardonnay and a delicious slice veggie pizza!
He then comes back and asks if he could offer a complimentary shampoo and blow dry. Whaaaat! So off I went!
Sahar was my stylist and OMG did she make me look and feel like a princess! My hair IS beautiful and she even taught me how to pin it up so the style lasts!
So needless to say, everyone needs to experience this salon! Not only is the place beautiful, but the staff is amazing!
Nordine, thank you for an amazing birthday! This will NOT be my last visit!

Iris is amazing! When I have my eyebrows waxed by Iris the shape always is fantastic and it doesn’t hurt. I would not trust my eyebrow to anyone else.

Mija Perkins did a fantastic job for my daughter. She added a peekaboo streak of blonde and a nice bang. It’s so perfect for a seventeen girl. I highly recommend Mija at salon Nordine in Reston.

Had a great massage experience here with my wife for our anniversary evening. The service is professional and the space is clean and the décor a little more interesting than your average sterile spas. I had to think about how perfect this place would be for an extended Dulles layover escape, only 10 mins away.

All of my problems with this salon stem from the owner, Nordine himself.
Let me say that the employees, stylists, and salon specialists are not the problem; they all do wonderful work and are very helpful, talented, and kind.
However, it is an absolute shame that such great people are working for such a horrifically unprofessional man that has not the slightest idea of how to run a business.
First of all, I had previously been a religious client of a stylist that switched locations and went to Fairfax. Unfortunately this was too far of a commute, so I scheduled an appointment with Nordine, as he came highly recommended. It was difficult to schedule, which is understandable because he is the owner and is highly demanded. However, I am baffled as to why he was recommended at all.
Let’s start out with the fact that he showed up 35 minutes late to the appointment. When he finally arrived at the salon, he sent me to shampoo without an apology. I finished the shampoo and was sent to a chair to have my hair cut. He was still not there as I waited after the shampoo, and he came back another 15 minutes later. At this point, the receptionist apologized over three times and I should have been out of the salon already.
He did a decent job with my hair, but it was slightly haphazard and could have cost me $ 10 at Hair Cuttery rather than the $ 110 I paid for a simple haircut.
Finally, I called the salon to file a complaint with him, and was told by the front desk receptionist that he would call me back as soon as possible. Instead, I was called two days later by the front desk again, to give me an apology but nothing else. I was expecting another appointment free of charge or some kind of reimbursement. At the very least, I was expecting a call from Nordine himself. I did not get any of this and would never in my life recommend somebody to this salon.
Think twice before booking an appointment here, because you will spend a ridiculous amount of money at an establishment run by a disrespectful man that does not care about his clients.

I went to this salon today for a pedicure. When I sat down I asked the women not to touch my cuticles.
About 10 minutes in I feel a very sharp pain and see tons of blood.
She cut of a large piece of skin that caused bleeding that lasted for over an hour. It’s 3 hours later and I’m still in pain.
My leather flip flops were ruined from the bleeding.
I asked to speak with the owner or manager but no one was available.
I left my contact information and still have not heard back.
I would not recommend this salon for anything based on my experience.

I got a silk wrap with gel polish and had the polish peel off one nail within two hours. Went back, got it fixed. Next morning 3 more peeled off. I went back, they fixed those three. Asked to speak to the manager 3 different times. She didn’t want to bother me while I was getting the fix done. When I was done I asked to see her again, she was «with a client» yet called my office number 2 minutes after I walked out. After spending $ 166 and having to go back twice, I would have expected more. To make it even more fun, I had a flight out that night and another nail lost the polish in one clump on the flight. Bottom line, they suck bad and I do not recommend them at all.

I’d been in for eyebrow threading previously and was pleased, but decided to go in last week for some much needed relaxation as I had surgery the next morning. Amanda was my massage therapist and was great. Anytime I pass out during a massage, they’re doing their job. I only wished I scheduled a 90min instead of 60. Nasrin gave me a deep cleansing facial w/​exfoliation which I’d never had before. Extractions are slightly painful, but my skin looks great even a week later. The owner, Nordine was also very pleasant. I will be back again!

I visited Salon Nordine for the first time about a week ago. I received an amazing custom facial! It was so relaxing and really cleared my pores, even some stubborn areas. I looked great when she was finished, and unlike some facials, it is a week later and I have not broken out. I ended up getting the algomasque and I can’t wait to get another.
I also received manicure and pedicure. The pedicure chairs are great, but my manicure was not good. The filing was uneven and the polish was uneven and on my cuticles in several places. I get manicures a lot at spas, but this felt like a manicure from a walk-​in shop off the street. I would never get a manicure there again.
The dressing room is very small (no more than 2 people at a time), but it has everything you need. Overall, though, it was a nice environment.

I recently moved to the area and needed a complete new hair style for a fresh start.
I wanted someone with years of experience
and with the help of Unilocal I came across Mitra Sani.
Mitra was so patient with me as I had lost ¾ of my voice to laryngitis. She listened to what I wanted for the cut and color. She understood that I was wanting a change as I was beginning a new chapter in my life.
She brought out the large book of hair colors and explained the process.
Once the color was achieved which was outstanding! Spot on! Exactly what I wanted… To be honest… For YEARS!!!
Mitra listened to me about the style of cut.
She had me hold a mirror to confirm how much would be taken off the back.
I showed her photos of what I wanted and she again amazed me!!!
Mitra has been a blessing to meet and have her help me with my new chapter of life.
She is very caring, helpful and never in a rush. I came in as a new client but hope I gained a new friend in Mitra.
I look forward to my next visit with her!

Eyebrows: Can not recommend Nasreen. She understood and was empathetic to my overly sensitive approach to my eyebrows because I want them to remain thick and clean (think Kardashian brows — no filling in needed). The end result was just not the what they normally were, it was too rigid in some areas and an overall messy line. I would not recommend a visit for eyebrows if you’re particular about great shape.
Parking: Free parking garage across the street or pay for Morton’s valet, both are super convenient to get to this salon!
Hair: Cut/​Blow dry a little more than average if you’re not from Northern Virginia, but you pay for the location & comfort. ($ 80) Not to mention attentive customer service. (Hello! The owner himself will respond on any social media venue ASAP! That’s ²⁴⁄₇ customer care)
I worked with Jenny in 2014. On Valentine’s day I walked in with big curls falling down my back. Jenny said she’d do her best to make the blow out look like the curls I wanted but warned me that I may have to get a style done (not sure how much more this would have cost?) to ensure I get the full body curls I was looking to have for that ever important date night. I appreciated her thoroughness. However she’s since left the salon. MISS YOU JENNY!
I worked with Michelle in 2016. I walked in with my big curls, once again, flowing down my back. I just need me quarterly trim and blow dry. For $ 80 she trimmed and blew dry my hair. Michelle was really quiet during the blow dry but struck up convo during the styling. She cut, then blew dry my hair straight, then cut again! It’s so different, but I didn’t mind because she gave me a heads up. She used a curling iron to finish the blow dry with the natural curls I originally requested. She was great and I loved my hair. Highly recommend.
Salon: I was greeted by the front desk reception, they offered to take my coat, and offered a drink. (including wine) the first visit in 2014 but 2016 was a totally different experience. No one offered a drink! I had to ask Michelle for one.
