Tropical Smoothie Cafe

I have been here a couple times. I usually get the smoothie and ½ salad combo which comes with a side order of a fruit, chips, or cookie. Their salads are use fresh ingredients and taste good and my coworkers tell me that their sandwiches and flat breads are good too.
The main attractions are their smoothies, which are excellent. My favorite so far is Peanut Paradise with splenda (you can substitute splenda in any of the smoothies to reduce the calories).
Its a good place for a quick, healthy lunch.

Staff is very friendly and fast. They know how to keep the long lunch lines moving. I work right next door so I come here frequently when I want a refreshing smoothie. My favorite is the Bahama Mama and Mango Magic, both are delicious every time I come in. Haven’t tried the food here yet, but I am sure it’s just as good! Cheap and yummy!

Tropical smoothie is one of the best place for lunch. I grab my lunch here very frequently. It hardly takes 5 minutes after I place an order. I really like their quick service. I found out from one of their staff that they deliver food too. Next day I ordered food to my office for delivery, the smoothie was fresh and the food was hot!

I live right around the corner from here and love the healthy smoothie options The food can be a dicey at times but I come for the smoothies and give them an A plus!

I work near this location so I grab lunch here regularly. Smoothies and food are always good and the staff is friendly.

Wanted something light for lunch yesterday since I was planning a big dinner and my boyfriend recommended this place. I passed on the smoothie since it was freezing cold outside but my boyfriend got one and really enjoyed it. They’re huge 32ozsmoothies for only $ 5! If you purchase a meal and add one on, they’re only $ 3! I ordered the king Caesar wrap and it was delicious! Tasted just like a chicken Caesar salad all wrapped up in a tortilla! It was exactly what is wanted. My only reasoning for leaving only 4 stars is because the staff was not friendly. We were the only customers when we walked in and the cashier merely mumbled a greeting that I didn’t even catch. He wasn’t rude but he also didn’t smile once through the entire visit.

Is this location closed? The sign in front says open at 7am… this is the third (3) time I have come by to get an early bfast smoothie after 7am and it has been closed.

Love love love the smoothies here! Food is decent too if you are looking for a quick bite!

Always awesome smoothies and sandwiches. Superb staff and service. The other night i was running late and I got there just after close Firas told me it was okay and asked what I wanted. I just needed a mocha madness smoothie added banana. He made it quickly and opened a register to ring me up. It was super nice. This location never disappoints.

I frequent the one in Ashburn but work in Reston and decided to give this one a shot. I regret it. I contacted them through their site a week ago and still nothing back from them… no apology… nothing. The employees are less than friendly here and are SO SLOW. They could learn quite a few things from the one in Ashburn (One Loudoun). The service there is top notch! Still waiting to hear back from management…

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Im from out of town (3 hours away) and everytime I come to Reston, Tropical Smoothie café is my first destination stop! I enjoyed my Spicy Wasabi sandwich and Green Smoothie. I enjoyed it very much and will be back every weekend :)

Upgrading to 3 stars … my visit here last year was my first Tropical Smoothie experience, and it was rather meh. Granted, I didn’t get a smoothie here, just lunch, and had terrible fish tacos. Since then, I had a yummy lunch at the TSC in Dumfries, and have gotten my wife hooked on their smoothies. I left my car at work last night and my wife was kind enough to drive me to work today in exchange for lunch. It was just before 11AM and many of the usual lunch spots hadn’t opened yet, so we went here for lunch.
My experiences at TSC are up and down … I was at the Manassas location just this weekend and I would never eat there because there is a weird smell that permeates the establishment. I caught a very slight whiff of it at this TSC, but it was so faint that after a minute or so I didn’t notice it. My wife ordered the King Club wrap, and I ordered two Korean beef tacos. My wife seemed to like her wrap, and my tacos were tasty. But they were WAY too expensive — nearly $ 6 — for the size. Their food tends to be overpriced and small portions, and this TSC didn’t have any specials to offer a better value for the food dollar.
However, the one consistent among all of my TSC visits is that the smoothies are REALLY good. And maybe they think that you’ll get so full off of their huge $ 4+ smoothie that you won’t really care about the small food portions. Sorry Charlie, I noticed, and that’s why TSC is at the lower end for lunch options for me. However, I do pledge my continued patronage for your delicious smoothies.

I ordered online and was texted that my food was ready for pick-​up about 5 minutes later. So you really can’t beat the convenience of their system!
I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when I pulled the salad out of the bag and saw this sad looking creation of mostly shredded lettuce, but the flavor was ok. I really liked the pesto chicken flatbread though. I think next time I’ll skip the salad and get a sandwich with a light smoothie instead.

The food and smoothies are absolutely delicious, but they’re out of ingredients a lot.

This location of tropical smoothie is the best i’ve been to. I love getting wraps here. They actually WRAP the wrap tightly so that the contents don’t go spilling out everywhere. The staff is also very nice.

I’m simply impressed with this place. A little smoothie place that can make killer wraps and sandwiches. I had a hummus wrap the other day thinking it would be pretty mediocre. It had so much flavor and fresh ingredients. I also love their Caribbean flatbread, the sauce and cheese are awesome. The high rating is really for amazing food, I never imagined great tasting food from a smoothie place!
I usually get smoothies from here, too, and they are consistently great.

I’ve been to a few different TS locations and this one is no different. The smoothies are solid and the staff is helpful in explaining what each is comprised of, if you aren’t hip to the smoothie game. The restaurant is clean and there’s a few tables outside to enjoy the nice weather.

Why should you take my word on smoothies? Because I make them at home and it only takes me about 2 weeks to earn a free smoothie at Robeks. It’s safe to say I am a smoothie connoisseur (and apart from a killer veggie mac and cheese, it’s all I really bother making at home).
So, with that said… I tried this place on a whim because someone got me a gift card. I was a dedicated Robeks customer, but after trying Tropical, I haven’t gone anywhere else for a smoothie, nor will I.
There are a few reasons for that, but the first is that their 24-​oz smoothies can be added to ANY food item for $ 3. That makes it an unbeatable value proposition against other quick-​service places (not to mention healthier). My go-​to is the Spinach & Kale smoothie and a breakfast burrito (usually the Early Bird, filled with eggs/​chicken/​tomato/​pepper jack/​chipotle mayo). I walk out for under $ 7.50 and am satisfied for hours.
I’ve only tried the breakfast entrees and a few smoothies (try the Caribbean Carrot). But everything has been amazingly good, and it’s darn consistent… always the same, never poorly made.
I’m not a perfectionist about service. And I’ll admit that I’ve waited a bit too long for food or drinks. BUT, I enjoy the food and the owners so much that it doesn’t matter to me anymore.
The owner/​manager is very young (like, not even 30) so I cut them a lot of slack. He is a very friendly guy and when I had to wait a while for my breakfast wrap the other day he gave me and another customer who was waiting on the same thing a «free lunch» card. So what is there to complain about?

Wow, I really like TS but this location was the worst!
If I were the owner I’d want to know how many people walked out while I was waiting (forever) for my order. I came in just before a deluge of people on a Saturday. The poor (2) staff were making smoothies for everyone but neglecting the food orders. So I (and others) got our smoothies but had to wait for our food orders.
When I finally asked about it the girl said «I’m on Smoothies». Lol. I watched and waited for 20 minutes while the other girl (who I guess was on food) made smoothies and neglected food orders. At least 7 people came in, waited and then left because neither of the girls who were frantically making smoothies, took any new orders.
I finally canceled my food order and got my money back.

So I couldnt give it a full five stars because they are still working out their kinks, they opened not too long ago… definitely over a month now. (Its very obvious they are new staff in training still) The menu varies from other locations. So far I have had about 6 smoothies and a sandwich. The sandwich was tasty on really hearty bread. The smoothies are good. However, I have noticed recently that they are not telling people they have the option of splenda or turbinado sugar. (I only knew because I had been to other locations.) I’m not a fan of sweet so I usually ask for little or no turbinado. My colleague loves this place; we like to get out of the building and this convienient since you can walk to it from our building we make it a point to stop at least 2 times a week. I definitely recommend giving it a shot.
