We are one of the top Virginia Wedding Photography companies in the Washington, DC area. Our award-winning photography helps captures weddings, families, babies and businesses all over Fairfax County and the surrounding Washington, DC Metro area.

We are former photojournalists and White House photographers. We have photographed everything from weddings to super bowls to backyard celebrations.

History

Established in 2008.

Jennifer and Mike Heffner, two photojournalists who fell in love, founded

Vita Images. While searching for a wedding photographer for their

wedding, they realized there was a great need for high quality wedding and

portrait photography in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area.

I knew by the age of nine that I wanted to be a photojournalist.

Really, I did! You can check out my diary from when I was that age.

I love the creativity that being a wedding photojournalist allows. I am always amazed at how different and unique photography can be when one strives to capture the passion and emotion that comes from each and every wedding. The romantic in me also loves seeing one tiny thing in each wedding that reminds me of my own wedding day.

For over 20 years, I have been using photography as my art medium. I have established a career as an award-winning photojournalist and photo editor.

I started my first job as a photographer at my small hometown newspaper and worked my way up to working for some of the best newspapers in the country. When I left the newspaper industry, I went to work in the photo office at The White House for the Executive Office of the President as a photo editor. I have worked for many other companies such as National Geographic and USA Today

Jennifer did an outstanding work in taking our family portraits in the woods. We were a little skeptical of the gloomy weather that day but all the pictures came out so well. I had Vita Images photograph my wedding. They were fantastic. Jennifer worked with me to get the portraits I wanted and took a ton of pictures. Mike and Jennifer made a great team and were able to get a full array of shots. Jennifer, Mike, and her wonderful assistant Kristin went above and beyond to take great pictures and put us at ease on our wedding day. I used Vita Images for family portraits one Christmas. We had taken professional photos several times with portrait studios and professional photographers. Totally different experience! I loved that she came to us, rather than cramming everyone into the car and trying to keep hair and outfits decent while walking into a mall to some no-name photographer that doesn’t know you from the next family. She took her time finding us a perfect venue and asking what we were looking for. She then was able to not only handle my husband and I, but all FOUR of our kids AND 2 dogs and a cat. Knowing animals are all over the place and my 1 and 2 year old were cranky, I assumed it would be a disaster. Jennifer took time to work with us. Turns out, all our favorite photographs were the ones she took when we didn’t know she was looking. All the cheesy poses came out nice too, but she has an eye and a gift. Mike has also taken some professional action shots for us of our son playing sports that were fabulous! You can literally see the sweat drop on a forehead — incredible! I’m not going to say they’re cheap, but they’re worth every penny. I ended up order beautiful linen, premium-quality portraits and greeting cards through vita images. When all said and done, it was close to the same price I ended up paying at the Picture People, but with lifetime quality ad memories I’ll never forget. I would recommend Vita Images to anyone looking for some great shots!
