Blue Cross and Blue Shield

I’m certain I should NOT have to hold 30 minutes to speak to a customer service agent… seriously, they need to consider staffing up their business, because this is horrible business for people who spend tons of money for their insurance!

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas caused more chest pain than my failing heart. If you want to be happy, stay away from this company. They will reject claims that normally accepted by other insurance companies. Now, I have spent the rest of my year on phone call with Blue Cross and my doctor. Thank God my employer came to senses and switched to another insurance company after 1 year with BCBS. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY.

Absolutely atrocious customer service. Have not issued a refund to me in excess of $ 1000.00 in over 4 months. Customer service leaves you tied up on the phone for over an hour before you can speak to someone. Once you speak to someone your call «drops». I suggest people find an insurance company that is more responsive to consumers. This one is, in my opinion, the worst I’ve ever experienced.

This company does NOT care about their clients. Was diagnosed with a disease in April 2014 and just completed treatment in June 2015. I signed up for a new plan with this company in Jan 2015. I have had nothing my issues with them. They messed up my plan in January and was unable to start it until February. Each month since then I have called with issues involving my auto draft to pay for coverage and them covering medical bills. They would auto draft half of my monthly premium, then term my coverage for not paying in full, make me give them a full payment on top of the auto draft which has already taken half of my premium. I get told the finance department has to reimburse me for the auto draft they have collected. I am still waiting to this day to see a dime reimbursed. Another issue, I purchased my 2014 directly through them am need a letter stating I had healthcare coverage in order to file my taxes for 2014 (now required by law). I requested this letter months ago and still do not have it. This company has the worse customer service I’ve ever witnessed. There is no way to hold anyone accountable. Every time I have called I have been assured the issue will be fixed but I have to call every month because it never does. There is no way to contact the service rep you dealt with because no one has direct extensions. They give you a call reference number but its a different rep when you call back with that number and they have to rely on notes taken from the previous call which have proven to be incomplete or very vague or none at all. Today, I called at 10:52 am and my call ended at 1:18 pm without anything resolved just «requested» and with my call dropped 3 times. I finally spoke with Supervisor today after 2 hours. I made sure I wrote down her first name, employee number, and reference number and assured me I would be able to contact her if the call dropped. Surprise, surprise… the call drops. I call back and get connected to a random service rep. I give her the employee number and name of the supervisor who was helping me and assured me I could talk to if we got disconnected and she told the service she wouldn’t speak with me! She REFUSED to help me!!! I would give this company a negative rating if I could. It’s been a nightmare 8 months. They literally have nothing in place where customers can hold service reps or anyone else for that matter accountable. They simply want to collect your premium and put you on hold if you have an issue (which you will). It is now 8 months since I started my new plan with them and still waiting on issue 8 months old to be resolved.

My first experience with this company. Broke my ankle on June 22 — after 16 days finally got my information sent from my PCP (the one that’s listed on my card but who is not accepting new patients) to an orthopedic surgeon who can actually repair my leg. The first appointment I was offered was in early August. After reminding the receptionist that I’ve been limping around with a broken leg for 2 weeks the doctor graciously agreed to see me next week.
I spent 30 minutes on the phone with BCBS, and the girl tried to find a doctor who could see me sooner but no luck. I guess my only recourse is to go to a hospital that has surgical capabilities and run up a huge bill. There’s no telling how much damage may have occurred already and there’s no sense of urgency with anyone I deal with.
I don’t know if the blame is with the insurance company, the doctors, or the entire screwed up system but it’s pathetic that no one seems to care.
