Canton Chinese Restaurant

If you are ever looking for a delicious authentic (or close to it :)) Chinese food restaurant you need to come here!
I am Asian and I vouch for this place, it is so good! For the 3 of us, we ordered 4 dishes and we devoured it. This place seems like it’s family owned so they might be a little slow in service, but well worth it.
We ordered the seafood tofu claypot, snow pea tips, salt and pepper squid, and fried pork chops– honestly it was all good, I really don’t have one bad thing to say.
I highly recommend this place– go try it!

I love the crispy pork, beef with pan fried noodles and Mongolian beef here. My family and I like to come here and eat because the servers are attentive and the food does not take too long to come out. It is also not expensive. We are a family of 6 and we order a good amount of food but our bill is usually only around $ 50.

So this dated establishment has a lot of Americanized Chinese food offerings as well as some authentic Cantonese dishes. It is not completely one or the other. For this reason, the restaurant has been a draw for two different type of people, even as it is located in New Chinatown.
I tried the Americanized Chinese appetizer and dish of fried wontons and BBQ pork lo mein and the Chinese dishes of Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce and crispy pork.
The FRIED WONTONS were tasty, even if the edges are too fried and crispy. It’s easy to see why this one could be a guilty pleasure even though it’s not amazing or authentic.
The BBQ PORK LO MEIN was awful, lifeless, bland, and made with overly dried pork. Nothing juicy about this dish. Needless to stay, we had leftovers. And it was this dish that was left over.
The CRISPY PORK was tasty, well seasoned and well fried. The pork was moist and it has the noticeably authentic Asian spices that differentiates it from the Americanized offerings. Well done. Just get the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce to nicely complement it since the pork by itself without any sides can be too much.
CHINESE BROCCOLI WITH OYSTER SAUCE was well made, even if it was a little on the salty side. However, as a complement to the two more bland entrees we had, it was actually perfect. This and the crispy pork together makes for good eating.
But overall, I think there’s better Chinese places to eat in the shopping strip. So I’m not sure if I would return — maybe with more research to find a dish that they really excel at. It seems like a lot of people also recommend the fried stuffed shrimp balls. If you do come here though, I can recommend the crispy pork. Oddly though, it seems like Caravelle, in the same shopping strip, is known for the same things, and unfortunately for this place, Caravelle looks nicer inside. So if I were you, I’d probably just head over to Caravelle.

Food is great here and the servers are extremely attentive and friendly! I really appreciated the amazing service and the food consistency here. The food here is very authentic and I always get the combination lo mein and crab meat soup. The dishes always come with a generous amount of food. My boyfriend and I came here the other night and discovered our new favorite dish here, which was a beef dish and it’s basically the same as «shaking beef». It was the best we ever had. Super tender and well-​seasoned. Canton has never disappointed me and I will keep coming back for more tasteful Chinese food.

Great food, even better service. I took my family of five in and they took great care of us. They encouraged us to order something more than the standard sweet and sour chicken. Their suggestion was great. Everything we had their that night was good.

Food is pretty okay. It’s a middle ground between American Chinese food and Authentic Cantonese with Vietnamese influence.
It’s missing some Cantonese essentials, which I thought to be very odd. 叉燒 (BBQ Pork) and 燒鴨 (Roast Duck) come to mind.
I think First Chinese BBQ down the road is better.
I enjoyed their Chicken Corn Soup 雞蓉玉米湯. And their 豆苗牛肉 (Sprout leaves (?) with Beef, and fried pork 排骨 were pretty good.
The 紅燒豆腐 (red braised tofu) was a little bit disappointing, and seemed more suited for those who aren’t looking for authentic Chinese (like I was).
Waiters were super nice. Not a bad place, and I might come back. But it’s not high on my list, and a bit far for what I got.

Although I’ve lived in Richardson almost all my life, this was my first time to Canton. My friend and I came for dinner on a Saturday night after shopping. The restaurant is on the smaller side and was packed so we had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up. We ordered stir-​fried water spinach with garlic sauce, sizzling beef and the salt and pepper shrimp. Everything was delicious but the salt and pepper shrimp had little to no seasoning. I would substitute for the cheese shrimp my next visit. If given the option, try not to sit at the table next to the kitchen. Although, it was easier to get the staff’s attention sitting there I got bumped into by the staff on their way in and out of the kitchen.

First time in this restaurant. Very authentic. The food was delicious!!! I had the Szechuan spicy chicken, my wife had the Beef with flat noodles. Both were very good. The taste of the food took me back to my many visits to China. I closed my eyes while trying the food and I felt as I expected, right back to Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. Let me not forget the appetizer, the fried shrimp balls, ground shrimp, shaped into a ball and fried in a light batter, yummy! the taste is outstanding! Friendly and fast staff. Will definitely come back.

Always cooked perfectly. Always filled with people of Asian descent, so you must know it’s good.

It was my first time in this this restaurant yesterday. I thought food was ok until I saw a small HAIR (what appeared to be a body hair, yuck) on my plate. And they didn’t even say sorry and gave me a weird look after I notofied them about it. Never eating there again.

No complaints here. Classic Cantonese food. I had the mixed vegetables and tofu in brown sauce. Good flavors and decent sized portions. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Prices are average. Typical Chinese restaurant décor ~ zodiac sign placemats, fish tank, and all. I mean that in a GOOD way: D. This is a great place for groups. While the dining room itself is a bit small, many of the tables have lazy Susans in the center which are perfect for sharing multiple dishes.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in DFW. We got a smaller amount of items than the usual. Salt and pepper Shrimp with salted cabbage is crisp. Sour cabbage with pork or beef is filling and tastes great with steamed rice. My mom opted for the pork and eggplant. Very busy at 6 pm

Ordered orange beef and fried rice to go. perhaps they were getting ready to close for the night, because everyone seems like they were preparing for the next day…
the orange beef was not crispy at all. it wasn’t as jerky as before… therefore it wasn’t great. Also the fried rice wasn’t as great as the first time.
It’s better to eat in than take out.

The food here is probably one of the best (authentic) Chinese places I’ve had. I want to say that my family and I come here almost once a week ever since I was a little girl! Every time we go to another Chinese restaurant, we find ourselves comparing it to Canton, and Canton always wins. I even converted my husband to being a diehard Canton fan and he cannot go a week without eating here.
The food here is relatively cheap and they give you generous portions.
Our family go-​to menu consists of:
the BBQ fried rice, snow pea leaves, crispy pork chops, French-​styled shaken beef, cheese lobster, crispy codfish w/​sauce (we ask for it on the side), water spinach, wonton soup, fried wonton, beef and Chinese broccoli, clams, oysters and… pretty much everything else on the menu. ;) They have really flavorful soups with the Vietnamese Canh Chua Ca (Hot & Sour Catfish Soup) being my ultimate favorite.
Of course, they have a more «Americanized» menu as well. The sesame chicken was my go-​to as a little girl. :)
As with most Chinese/​Asian restaurants, the service isn’t always the best, but don’t let that stop you from feasting here. There is an older lady here that is the SWEETEST and will give you the best service.
As for décor, I think I’ve gotten used to the mismatch here. For example, the cool bar lighting with little girl’s fans on the ceilings. just to name a few.
Come here and you won’t regret it!

This family owned restaurant in Richardson’s ‘China Town’ is in an old burger hop and across from Caravelle.
Family home cooking is my description, complete with very tasty home cooking. More importantly, all the staff are always VERY friendly and courteous.
We dined here Friday, 3/​20, and feasted on several fish dishes: salted fish fried rice, fried shrimp balls, shrimp with bitter melon, crab with fish maw soup, combination seafood low mein, baked cod steak and ordered sautéed snow pea leaf to compliment. (See posted pictures)
My family of four had more than enough left over to have for Sunday dinner.
Coming back and dining here is like visiting old friends and why we will always regard this restaurant as one of our favorites.

This place has been here for quite some time. When craving for certain dishes, I would always stop by to order a few of my favorite food. I recommend their crispy fried pork chops, snow pea leaves with beef, combination chow mein which is crispy pan fried noodles with meat or seafood and veggies. Should also try their Singaporean noodles which consist of thin clear noodles, veggies and meat.
When the weather is cold, I usually like to order their hot pot. They’re known for their Canh Chua which is a sweet/​sour soup with fish and vegetables. They make it very tasty here. Overall great place for family style dining so you can try a variety of their dishes.

Went here in Valentines Day evening. Place was packed! Very small place. Luckily not many big parties that night so we received a larger table fairly quick. Service is friendly, but on the slower side. We received rice, 10 minutes later we received a vegetable dish, then 10 minutes later started slowly receiving other dishes.
Stir fried vegetable with garlic: very light and not too garlicky. Dishes like this, if too much garlic is added, you end up tasting like garlic rather than feeling like you ate a meal.
Fish filet W/​XO sauce: tender fish filet stir fried with XO sauce, served on top of stir fried green beans. Pretty good! Sometimes the XO sauce can be overbearing, but I would say they did it just right!
Salt and Pepper Pork Chops: I’ve had better. The pork had more of a thicker breading that fell off when you bit it, rather than a lightly brushed batter I’m use to. I would say the pieces were pretty big which made it harder to eat. The other thing I wish this dish had was sliced jalapeños! This dish didn’t have any so I felt it was missing something.
House Special Steamed Chicken: reminded me of steamed chicken with ginger and scallions. Only difference is, the sauce had a thicker broth like sauce that complimented the chicken. Chicken was VERY soft and juicy. Served with a side of ginger onion sauce.
Pea tips stir fried with shrimp: Pea tips were good! I always love the delicate-​ness of Pea tips. Shrimp was big and wasn’t over cooked. I didn’t get to try the shrimp due to not eating much seafood, but everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

After being disappointed multiple times
By a restaurant in the same shopping center I decided to give this place a try. I have only called in my order but have done so three times now. The woman that answers the phone is really nice and friendly. I’ve gotten the combination fried rice, sesame and sweet and sour chicken. All three have been delicious. We have been overcharged once and didn’t order the sesame chicken but got it anyway, luckily it was good so no complaints.

As the restaurant name implies, this place is all about the cantonese food. I remember coming here growing up very fondly.
We got a whole fish of sorts, mapo tofu, beef flat noodle, chicken and mushroom hotpot, peking style pork chops, snow pea leaves and sizzling beef. I wish the portion size was a little bigger as we needed 7 dishes to feed 7 people but the quality is great and tastes authentic. I really recommend the sizzling beef and noodles particularly, among the best I’ve had anywhere.
Call ahead for reservations — the restaurant isn’t all that big so you’ll want to get space asap.

I love this place! I always get the crisy pork chops and egg drop soup. It’s so freaking delicious! The portion is huge. I always bring a friend. They order a dish and we share. This is the best way to try other dishes. The waitress, Gina… She is so wonderful! 我爱她! 她帮助我说中文. She teaches me a new word each time I come. My friends and I wanted to give her a tip. She says «the tips go altogether.» If you decide to try this place… request Gina as your waitress. She will take care of you!
