The Velvet Snout is the area’s premier dog care facility. Offering dog day care, all-​suite dog boarding (we board cats too!), full service grooming and obedience training. Dog boarding with luxury suites and spacious dog day care playrooms. Other amenities include a ½ acre outdoor private dog park complete with pool and synthetic grass for the comfort of your dog. The Velvet Snout specializes in Daycare with webcam viewing, Boarding, Grooming, Groom and Play, Training, and Board and Train for all dogs in a fun and caring environment. Our facility offers a clean and healthy environment for your dog to play and learn to be with other people and dogs. We provide special care for your dog when you have to be away.

History

Established in 2003.

The Velvet Snout was started out of a labor of love and of a tremendous desire to put the pet first. It’s for people that are looking for a high quality facility to leave their pet while they travel or are at work. At The Velvet Snout, you will find large play areas with dogs separated by size and temperament and an experienced, professional staff committed to making sure each day at day care is a fun adventure for your dog.

Business Owner

For over 15 years, Laura was in the sales industry and constantly had a desire to have the best care for her pets while she traveled for work. That was when she decided to start her own business known as The Velvet Snout Canine Adventure Center. Asher, her first German Shepherd, was regularly told she had a «velvet snout,» and Laura decided that would be the perfect name for this unique business.

I took my Yorkie that has health issues to get groomed and they made me feel very comfortable. They gave her the best cut she has ever had and contacted me as soon as she was done! Jesse did a great job and was very reassuring!

Took our Maltese/​Bichon mix dog for a haircut. His hair was pretty long. Jesse did a great job! I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he was able to pretty much replicate the cut. Didn’t take very long, either. Will definitely take our dog there for his next cut.

The staff at velvet snout went above and beyond there duty last Thursday. I’m a single mom of 3 and a rescue mom to two pit bulls. I tore my ACL the day before and was desperate for help. I needed my baby’s walked. I have taken my 1 dog to them before for grooming which they did a amazing job! So I called for help, they do not offer dog walking service, but the staff felt so bad for me they had compassion and understanding. So they sent Angel to my house ASAP. she arrived and my dogs loved her she walked them for me. I could not express my gratitude enough. She even went as far as to ask me if I needed help later in the evening! It’s hard enough to find a place that accepts pit bulls to begin with, but for this business to send someone to my house and help my dogs was incredible. I will never take my dogs anywhere else. Best business for animals in the DFW. God bless you guys

The staff did a wonderful job for a poodle we rescued from an animal shelter. I called to ask if they could take him and groom him the same day as he was incredibly dirty with matted fur and they said yes!
Our poodle looks amazing now and is in such a happy place after being on the streets for however long and not having a home. He now is working on a normal life after Velvet Snout took such great care of him. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating. Thank you! Thank you!

I have removed my prior critical review of March 31, 2014, because the business owner contacted me personally. My concerns were addressed and my fragile 13 year old lady dog was groomed and treated very compassionately.

At first glance this place seems pretty good, but upon entering that’s a totally different story. Walking in, you get a massive whiff of feces. We tried to overlook that seeing that it’s a doggy daycare. So we decided to go ahead and give this place a try, seeing that we are not utilizing the boarding aspect of the business. We payed for two dogs, for expressing glands, clipping of the the nails, furmination of one pet, hygiene trim and bath of course. At first glance when picking them up after they were done, looked to be good. Upon further exam at my house fur was falling from the dog that was to be furminated like she had barely been bathed. Now I totally understand that furmination does no cure shedding nor did I have that slightly in mind but having furminated her myself I do understand that it alleviates some and I know that if she did get furminated there it was not worth the extra fee because it was falling out at slight pets to her body. No hygiene trim was given to one dog and the other dog had scrap marks from the teeth of the clippers on his belly. Also, one dogs eye was irritated and began to puss after a day. We noticed the redness from the cleaning of the area around the eye but to see it swell up was another story. Two stars for a nice smelling dog but thats being somewhat generous. I’ll save my 150 bucks and do it myself and have glands expressed at vet…

The Velvet Snout staff is friendly and professional. They really love their fur-​clients and make a point to learn each ones unique personalities.
The last time my two boys were there, one of them managed to tear his dew claw. The on-​call manager was unable to get ahold of me (I was vacationing in heaven’s country which meant no cellular service!) so they made the executive decision to get him to their local vet to have the wound cleaned and medicated. It was the right thing to do since I was unavailable to provide any other instructions.
My boys are sweet but extremely sensitive and are quick to let me know when they are unhappy with something, usually by digging claws into the pavement and clinging to my leg. They are always excited to be dropped off at The Velvet Snout which says a lot to me.

The Velvet Snout is a clean, orderly, safe place to have your pet in day care or overnight stay. I had my dogs in daycare and then groomed and Patty did a wonderful job. My Chow has very thick fur, and she took it down to his summer length and he looks fab. My Maltese can get very stressed after being at the groomers, but came home fancy and prancy and very relaxed.
The staff takes great care to keep the dogs calm, watered and fed, and exercised by following a very specific schedule. Your pup will not get lost in the crowd with this level of accountability and documentation. The suits are glass so your pup can have his privacy, but still be involved in the activity around him and not feel isolated or lonely.
I am very pleased with my experience and highly recommend The Velvet Snout.

These negative reviews are laughable; you are people for real?! We have used Velvet snout a few times for boarding and I was beyond impressed with their attentiveness and patience with our spaztastic Lab.

My dog has become a grumpy little bastard in his old age and tried to bite the last groomer. They basically kicked him to the curb and said we needed to drug him before we could bring him back in. While we were at the vet getting homie some simmah down nah pills, our vet recommended The Velvet Snout (btw, how badass is THAT name?)
I dropped off my shaggy ass, trazadone’d out dog in the morning and my wife picked up our freshly shorn and stylishly bandanna’d beast after work.
He had some matted fur behind his ears that required shaving and they called first to make sure we were OK with that.

They said something happened to his food and so they didn’t feed it to him. His food isn’t cheap, and I was not thrilled about him eating whatever it is they fed him. Since the vet put him on a special diet, this was a problem for us. He also came home with diarrhea, probably from the food they fed him. Also while I am ranting away, I may as well add that for some reason they took off the tag silencer I had on his tags so that his hearing would not be affected by the clinking of his tags. That was just a weird thing to do. As for the staff, I really didn’t think they knew what they were doing. Overall, obviously a bad experience. This wasn’t his first time being boarded and he has not wanted to leave some other places that I have brought him. When we left this place, I have never seen him get in my car so fast. I was really disappointed because they never told me about the webcam, I don’t know if it even existed when I boarded him.

They didn’t take my dog out for a walk like they said they would. I had the doggy cam on all day at work. All of the dogs looked bored out of their minds. Nobody played with them. They weren’t given any water either. I liked the staff a lot, so I was hoping there would’ve been some playtime/​walk time for the pooches.

I love the Velvet Snout. I am very careful about where I take my dog, Henleigh. From the moment we got there the staff was helpful, sweet, caring, and very nice to my baby. I can also tell when she enjoys her stay. I took her to another place once; she never wanted to go in, and she was scared of some of the workers. However, at TVS, this was not the case. She gets super excited every time I take her there. I even offered my services to create a commercial for them. I love them!
