The Vet House

I am sure what happened at my appointment was a misunderstanding. The desk lady was just doing her job. People who are poor shouldn’t own animals they can’t afford to take care of or expect anyone else to care. The Dr was great and that is what truly matters.

Incredible, incredible staff! We just lost one of our furbabies yesterday evening. I wanted to make sure that I could some how recognize the great care she received throughout her life from The Vet House staff. They always treated her as if she was their own. As a matter of fact they treat all our furbabies that way. When she hurt you could see they hurt too. It was very reassuring to have her in the care of people with that kind of empathy. Our furbaby could not have received better treatment during her life than she did at the Vet House. They continue to be very sympathetic and gracious to us as we make the final arrangements for our beloved furball. We will continue to entrust our furkids to the care of The Vet House with complete confidence that they could get no better care anywhere else.

Great staff. Always so helpful and caring. Recently had a situation where staff went beyond their regular duties by helping me with some travel documents for my pet.

We love this place. Dr. Major always listens to our concerns and never tries to «upsell» our visit. She explains everything completely and is a lovely veterinarian, she genuinely cares about what she does. I fully trust this veterinarian clinic and will be clients for as long as we live in town.

Thank you to The Vet House! I needed a very last minute medication for my dog prior to boarding his for the holiday and Dr. Swann came to the rescue. The Vet House is open on Saturday until 4pm and Dr. Swann treated my baby with fur with a very last minute appointment. I appreciate their customer service, Ms. Jean was more than accommodating with the appointment and was able to get us in an hour before they closed.

I just started taking my two dogs here. They are fantastic. We’d been going to Campbell Village Vet for years but Operation Kindness recommended the Vet House. It’s half the price for one thing, but most importantly they are dedicated to pets and pet owners. My rescue dog was having a lot of intestinal problems for a week and when I took him in they said it might be parvo even though he had been vaccinated, because sometimes parvo is so aggressive they get it anyway. While I waited fifteen minutes for the test results Dr. Major stayed with me. I was surprised she did and was super talkative about dogs in general. The parvo results came back negative. Later I realized she must have stayed with me in case the test was positive and I would have had to put him down. She gave me great advice on things I didn’t know even after 20 years of having dogs. I recommend them without reservation.

Great, caring staff. Nice clean facility. I have taken my dogs here a number of times through the years. They always get great care. The latest trip was yesterday after I found some blood on the floor and one of our dogs acting a bit unusual. I was able to make an appointment for him to be seen that same day, just a couple of hours after the original discovery. Turned out he had a growth that needed surgically removing. To my surprise they were able to schedule surgery that same day so I was able to leave him there and pick him up later after surgery. They contacted me when surgery was complete and let me know how things went. They answered all my questions about his recovery patiently. They know how much we furball parents care about our little furry family members. I don’t want to take mine anywhere else. I have peace of mind that mine are well cared for when they need something that requires that my dogs be there a little longer than just an appointment. As long as the Vet house continues to provide quality, caring service, we will continue to take our dogs there. No need to go anywhere else! :-)

I still can not believe that we were here four times for our dog Bruno’s neutering and NOT ONCE did we ever meet, see, or even speak to the vet who performed a major surgery on our dog. Not once did we meet the doctor who anesthetized our dog. Not once did we meet with the doctor who removed our dog’s detached rear dew claws (we were advised to do so by an emergency vet to avoid getting them caught on anything)…meaning he just took the front desk’s note stating that we wanted them removed and did it without confirming with us that it was a good idea. That we never met the vet who performed all these procedures on our puppy is a sign that something is severely wrong with the practice.
We took this dog in a couple months ago from our neighbor. We then took his litter-​mate sister in just a few weeks ago when they moved out. She started going into heat shortly thereafter, and we decided at that point that we needed to get him neutered pronto in order to avoid anything from happening. When we dropped him off, I met with the surgical tech, who answered the questions I had about the situation. She was very nice and seemed like she cared about his care. However, the conversation ended and she took Bruno to the back and I was sent on my merry way, obviously without having spoken to the vet.
When I came in to pick him up the next day, I expected to at least speak to the vet at that point. No. I was given a care packet by the front desk lady, who explained the basics (mind you, this is the front desk lady, not a surgical tech or even a vet tech), and then a handler brought Bruno out to the waiting room and quickly left. Given the heat situation back home, I had a few behavioral and recovery questions, but the only person I could ask anything of was the front desk lady… sure, she’s nice and all, but again, she’s not even a tech and again… I just picked my dog up from surgery!!! Ok then…
So I brought Bruno back a few days later to get the bandages on his dew claws changed. I thought I’d at least get to ask some questions of the tech who changed them (I had no disillusion that I’d get to meet the vet for this procedure). But surprise, surprise again… someone came out from the back and just took Bruno to the back, told me to wait there, and whisked him away. When he brought him back out, he kindly told me he was all set, gave me the leash, and started to walk away when I stopped him and asked him if he was a tech. He said that he was, and so I got to ask him a couple of questions, which he took the time to answer. I still felt like I was being rushed out of there, but I was just glad that I was at least speaking to someone knowledgeable about the situation.
The final visit was to have his sutures removed. I really did think that I’d meet the vet on this last visit. But again, I did not. We arrived and, yet again, someone came out from the back and took him from the waiting room and said she’d be right back. A few minutes later, she brought him back, never once identifying herself as either a tech or a handler. Though we had a couple more questions, at this point, we just said forget about it and left.
Seriously, Vet House. That’s no way to run a practice. There are so many options in the Richardson area that we’ll never be back here. We’ve luckily found a vet nearby who first-​hand has shown the care that we expect from someone who you’re entrusting with your pet’s health.
Though the Vet House vets’ names are referenced by some testimonials on their website, it’s telling that there aren’t even any vet profiles on their website. Four visits later, they’re still just as anonymous to us as they are on there.

The doctors, staff, and technicians are all incredible. We have been taking our pets here for over 20 years. Dr. Major and Dr. Swann are the most compassionate, competent and kind veterinarians I have ever met. They will give you honest, helpful and sincere advice and will do whatever they can to help you and your pets get through any minor or major situation.
We just had to put our 14 year old Yellow Lab, Daisy to sleep this morning and I felt Dr. Major shared as much grief and sadness about this most difficult decision as we did as Daisy’s family. She honestly loved Daisy as much as we did.
You cannot find a better place to take care of your important «family members».
They are simply the best…

The doctors are amazing!!! I love how genuine everyone is here! It is so comforting. The doctors can be amazing (they are) but the office isn’t anything without an amazing office which they have!!! I loved how they treated my pets like their own and was the perfect amount of informative and understanding. I could not imagine taking my fur babies anywhere else!

Brian, the Practice Manager, and Dr. Swann are very caring and I highly recommend their services.

I have a 2yr old who had allergies. She was constantly nipping at herself & coughing out hair balls. She looked so bald.
We then were recommended to The Vet House. The staff there were very helpful.
Dr Major’s treatments were thoughtful & helped us try eliminating food that were allergy causing. But nothing worked. Many test were done but nothing. Then we removed our dog from any carpeted surface (kept her on tiles or wood). This along with a topical spray from Dr Major suddenly made a difference. Now my dog has hair on her back and happy.
Am thankful to Dr Major & her advice & education about possible allergy causing reasons & even about treatments we could opt for.

They stay open later than most other Vet Clinics and are extremely helpful. They work with you and can help fit you in at the last minute. Prices are not crazy out of the ordinary and you get quality veterinary care for your pets. Highly recommend

I brought in a stray cat that had some bad mouth problem that could barely eat. They sold me on antibiotics, neuter, a couple of tests and vaccines unrelated to his problem, a dental cleaning and a ridiculous whole body shave… after all this and about 4 total visits, I still have cat with same problem and a crap haircut… after last visit they just tried to shine me off, because the vet that looked at him initially and was familiar with him wasn’t the one who did procedures as was supposed to, so problem with mouth wasn’t addressed… hey guys it’s a STRAY! This isn’t FIFI that I’m attached to and you can just bilk $ from. I have real kids to spend $ on… if y’all can sleep with what you did, so can I… later

I have two French Bulldogs, and I love that everyone at The Vet House is fond of Frenchies! It makes us feel right at home when we visit.

Our cats have been having issues the past 4 – 5 years. The first couple times we went to The Vet House, there wasn’t a very good resolution to our issues. One of our cats has something akin to allergies. She’s just snot-​nosed all the time. We affectionately call her «asthma kat.» Yes with a K. It’s pronounced with a C sound. She did have an ear infection and we took care of that but she’s still snot-​nosed. We’re not sure what to do about that now.
Our other cat has been peeing blood for quite some time now. We brought her in and Dr. Major said she was having anxiety and that we should give her kitty Prozac. We followed her advice but the act of pilling her was causing her just as much anxiety as if we weren’t pilling her. *sigh* so we decided that that was just the lot we drew.
We took our second cat back to the vet recently because she, out of no where, started peeing on everything. If you left a shirt on the floor, she’d pee on it. Then it got worse and she started peeing on the bed. We took her into see Dr. Major and she prescribed urinary tract food to try. We locked her up in kitty jail (aka the bathroom) and in a couple days, she started peeing normally. Totally normally. It was a miracle and we have Dr. Major and Science Diet to thank. Our cat has lost at least 2 pounds and she’s so much happier. I am so grateful.

Love The Vet House!!! I have been disgusted by another vet prior (not here) and found this place. The staff is super nice and helpful. The vet is so informative and patient. My cat needs to be sedated for treatment and the receptionist called to see how he was doing the next day. Who does that!?! Their prices are very comparable as well.
We moved about 30 minutes up north and were still bringing our pets here until recently. We are so bummed we have to find another vet. The ONLY reason we have to is because we are having a THIRD child and we do not have the room in the car for three kids (two in car seats) and a 20-​pound cat and 40-​pound dog for a longer drive!

Best vet ever! Friendly, reasonably priced and they don’t push anything on you threat you don’t need! Love this place! I don’t know how many vets I pass to get here but there are several. We tried a couple closer to home and came right back to The Vet House!

Love this place! The vets are amazing and so is the front staff — always friendly and willing to help! We moved here from out of state and found them here on Unilocal.Couldn’t believe the negative review after I have had such amazing experiences here over the last year but as my momma taught me a long time ago — some people will gripe no matter what :)

The vets and techs are great… friendly, courteous, helpful, professional, etc. I have nothing negative at all to say about them.
The problem is with the front-​of-​house staff. They are always brusque and frequently rude, behaving as if you are a big giant pain in their butt and their lives would be so much easier if you’d just disappear. Today when I was in there, the line stacked up four deep while the receptionist was taking her time assisting a demanding and indecisive customer while barely acknowledging the rest of us. Finally someone came out and called the next in line to the back so we could get things moving again, but I stood there for a full ten minutes waching a customer and a condescending receptionist debate the relative merits of different heartworm tablets, all while the receptionist was speaking to the customer as if she was a learning disabled toddler and completely ignoring the rest of us.
As long as you can deal with the front of house staff long enough to get to the actual healthcare professionals, this place is great.

After a few weeks of vet visits, changing my cats medication and watching her suffer, I made the hardest decision and put her down. I was so happy with the way the staff has treated me over the past few weeks– scheduling me appointments last minute when she stopped eating, answering my million questions and phone calls. One of their techs even stepped out of surgery to answer a question for me that the receptionist couldn’t answer. But, most of all, I was happy with the way they treated my beloved cat. They were always gentle, kind and I felt like they cared about her as much as I did. I might also mentioned how well they worked with me on my limited budget. We did everything I could afford for her, and more– on their dollar. I feel like this is a pretty common practice as well. They really do care about their animals! Yesterday, I had a long, painful conversation with Dr. Falagrady. She was so kind and really helped put my mind at ease. Not only did she walk me through the euthanasia process and give me a hug afterwards, but apparently The Vet House takes your animal’s paw prints and fires them in a kiln, giving them to you a few days after. They have no idea how much that means! All in all, I’ll be taking all my pets here. Very professional– from start to finish.
