We ALMOST passed this place by and then were lured in by their drive-​thru (as we were on a roadtrip and looking to avoid stops.) I’m SO glad we paused for Ideal Dairy!!!
Firstly, before our food came out the kind staff gave us a dog-​biscuit for our pup! She was thrilled. We humans got two breakfast sandwiches and the bagels were ultra soft and tasty, not hard or grainy like so many other places. The egg, cheese and ham were all also good. We got coffees as well which are massive, we should have ordered smalls! When I asked for cream I was expecting the little half-​and-​half cups you get everywhere. Nope, they gave us a cup of REAL CREAM. Thick and soft and sweet and cold and oh-​so-​delicious. I could have drank the entire thing by itself! Made me regret that it was too early for shakes. Next roadtrip we’ll try the sweets!

Great soups, good bagel panini sandwiches, awesome ice cream treats and breads. Cool family story, excellent service. Cute ice cream shop décor. Will definitely make this our go to when passing through town. Worth getting off the highway for!

This place is a hidden gem in a small town.
Ice cream and ice cream products are top notch. You can tell they have been in the dairy business a long time. They use fresh fruit in there shakes. They serving sizes are perfect.
Sandwiches are fresh made to order. The sourdough bread is the soft kind. Has good flavor. Prices are good I have paid twice the price for way worse food. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Everywhere I go I have been looking for this kind of eaterie they are hard to come by any more.

Thanks Unilocal for this dream come true roadtrip stop. Delicious ice cream, friendly staff, clean bathrooms, and super cheap prices for what you get. We loved our lunch stop here. The paninis were so huge we took several halves to go. Get a milkshake!

The food here is soooo good, that the place needs to shut down. Here’s the problem… Ideal Dairy is so delicious, you won’t eat anywhere else, and the family of those restaurants would be unlucky and go out of business. Do you really want to see a homeless mother and children? STAY AWAY FROM IDEAL DAIRY! Do it for the not yet may homeless children…

Very nice little ice cream shop! A lot of great flavors, including licorice. I’ve only seen licorice flavored ice cream on the Oregon coast. What a pleasant surprise, yum!

There was a huge selection of ice cream flavors, and the shakes were massive. They are certainly generous with the scoops. Service was a little lacking, but was probably due to it being late and the kids working there wanting to leave early. Very nice treats.

I had the pastrami melt and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, no joke! I also had the salted caramel ice cream for dessert in a waffle cone and it was amazing.
I’m taking away one star for the gal working behind the counter who needed an attitude adjustment badly. Smile honey!

So many childhood memories: punch bags, squeaky cheese (although not very squeaky these days), ice cream, shakes! This is definitely the «go to» spot in the little town of Richfield.
They offer great sandwich specials: half or whole sandwich with soup or salad for about $ 6 or $ 7. Their grilled cheese on sourdough is a great comfort sandwich.
They have a drive-​thru too. But go in, walk around, stretch your legs. Bathrooms are clean. There is no WiFi (they should probably look into that in this day and age, but perhaps there isn’t a need in this town).
Looking forward to my next visit!
